True a goat that still is amongst us! He needs to be cherished including his music! I speak on behalf of many fans here in the uk 🇬🇧! His music can be heard wherever you go around the British Isles 🔥
Got to see Nas perform this live in Hawaii! I was the only one that knew all the lyrics in the small crowd. I Was in the front so Nas pointed at me as we were rapping his first verse, and kept rappin with me! I finished his verse ‘and of course n a s are the letters that spell.. NAS’. I yelled Nas super loud and the DJ missed scratching it into the song so I completed his song a bit! Love Nas been listening to him since the 96 album all the way back then and went back to listen to illmatic shortly after but bought his first five main albums
If you were in the front, how do you know you were the only one who knew the lyrics? We’re you watching Nas or the people behind you? And how would you know anyway? Because you didn’t see their lips moving? You assume a lot.
@@anonymouslakernerd7214 In Kona, Hawaii the crowd was small. When he saw me rapping every word of his verse, he came over to my side of the stage. I was the biggest fan in the crowd. He was warming up seeing who knew his individual tracks. Not anyone knew the lyrics to his classic songs surprisingly. I’m also a rapper so I know every word to rap in the same syllable pattern as Nas, and he was impressed. You assume a lot!
@@Prestigiousguy You assume that rapping every word of someone else's song is a reliable measure of fandom? Maybe there were bigger fans than you in the crowd who were enjoying the show without needing to be part of the show. Just like you used this video as an opportunity to (a) stake your claim as the biggest Nas fan at a show [hence, shifting the spotlight from Nas to you], (b) Let anyone who reads this know that you, too, are a rapper [and therefore important?] while other folks are just satisfied watching the video. Beyond the image NaS is a poet. He’s as true of an artists/musician as it gets in Hip Hop. Runs in the family for him since his father was/is a musician. there are are a lot of double entendre’s in this specific composition. For example when he says “can't take it with you under this Earth Rich men died and tried, but none of it worked.” So here he is talking about the obvious. I don’t have to spell it out. But he’s also referring to death customs like in ancient Egypt for example where they would bury their Pharaohs with gold and other jewels but grave robbers ultimately stole those treasures. Another example would be this line “Sooner or later we'll all see who the prophet is.” He’s talking about who is the GOAT in Hip Hop. He’s humble bragging that he’s #1. At the same time he is taking about the major religions i.e., who is the real messenger of God. Is it Moses, is it Jesus or is it Mohammed. NaS grew up in a time where though many AA were Christians however there was a 5%/ Nation of Islam influence. So he was well aware of the various religions and their beliefs. Look despite the image of NaS people have studied his lyrics and his vocabulary since it’s light years beyond his formal education. He’s a self taught man.

@Kingz K - glad you get into listening and pondering his lyrics, such as how J.Cole borrowed a bar from Nas and I hope your taking heed to what Nas said "let my cash invest in stock", your saving your $ and putting it into stocks to make it grow too. Great video review bro, stay woke.
I'm only 25 and it's so weird to me that anyone has only heard of Nas through J. Cole and just that's it. They know he exist because of Cole but don't know anything else at all. Damn when I was growing up I first got into Hip-Hop with Em and Dre and Snoop and shit, but I looked up and studied everybody they name dropped and kept expanding. How you noticed that Kendrick used the first bar of this song, in one of his songs, is a perfect example of the kind of thing Jay Z used to do in tribute of BIGGIE, that had people, including Nas, accusing him of plagiarizing BIGGIE. They are so recognizably Nas's bars to anyone that knows hip hop, that anyone hearing Kendrick use them, knowing how much of an inspiration Nas was to him, would take it the way Kendrick meant it, as a tribute as opposed to Kendrick "biting" Nas's bars. That was Jays defense as well.
