My personal favorite is a k swapped 1st gen Honda Insight. After you gut and swap them they only weigh around 1600lbs, so a semi built na k series would be plenty of motor for it. Gonna start a build on one when I’m out of college.
Hondas biggest mistake was not making the prelude RWD. Would have put them in the Nissan/Toyota bracket. Instead they are the the Japanese ugly ducklings.
I remember either Tanner Foust or Stephan Papadakis building a RWD Integra in the early 2000's for D1GP or US Formula D, and the project just fell through because the wheelbase and chassis made it impossible to do proper drifting in. It's all I can think about when I see these swaps.
Been having very boring uploads on my feed lately, then out of the absolute middle of nowhere here comes David with this thing🤣 thank you David, keep doing your thing🤙🏼
EK/EG hatches are my absolute weakness along with ice cream. Honestly, I'd run a five speed with the longest gearing possible in that thing to give traction a fighting chance. Obviously wider tires also.
@@androiduberalles it seems like a missed opportunity to enjoy this at about 200 fewer hp. A light weight, rwd car with 300ish whp would have been really interesting.
I'm the weird one in the world, I enjoy racing my FWD Civics. I enjoy the lift off oversteer, the turn-in characteristics of the Chassis. I don't really care for AWD, or RWD setups... but that honestly could just be not having driven one on a road course (or autocross) and only seeing drag setups with them.
Can't even drive the damn thing because of the power and lack of meaty tires 😅 I think this car is a perfect example of "just because you can, doesn't mean you should"....maybe do boost by gear or like he mentioned larger fenders and wheels and tires
@@ichista if it's spinning while short shifting and 50% throttle don't think it's the driver's fault.... 500hp with that tire width and something that light is just stupid
This is why i love hondas, you dont need to fabricate custom part in order to change the cars entire drivetrain. Everything is plug and play for the most part and can use other factory honda parts on any other honda
This would be such a fun daily to build a more lowkey version of this and paint it grandpa gold and a valved exhaust one for party mode and one to keep it quiet
Dude this is awesome!! It's about time you got to drive a RWD Civic 🤙 This car reminds me of my Civic sitting in my garage 😅 I've been procrastinating so bad on it, just on and off the project 😭 Mine is a KA24E (S13) EK (00) Civic with KA-E Trans, 300ZX VLSD, and S2000 staggered wheel setup (215 Front, 245 Rear). If I can ever finish the dam thing I would be more than happy to let you rip it around town 😎🤙
They need to turn this thing into a drift car. Thank you for reviewing my new favourite Civic. Also, Why is that that track so dirty? Sounds like you're driving off road.
I have 2003 Cavalier Z24 (clone) and I love it, and this whole rw conversion idea has been floating around in my head, and then do what comes naturally and hit up #ZZP and see what we can squeeze outta my 2.2 ecotec
Great engineering..but that car really needs wider front and rear fenders..It would be pretty competitive on the Optima Series if it has more grip and some improved interior as well..👍🏽🏁
Obviously not set up for hooking up on a drag strip... or anywhere with that much power. Once they get the larger rear tires and a hideous wing they may have something. Awesome test build.
I wish some one would make a pure carbon fiber hood for this civic I have a 2000 and every CF hood I have tried was just an oem hood with the skin replaced. Back in the 90s you could get a CF hood with no medal webbing they where so lite weigh it didn't even need to be propped up.
i imagine it has about the same amount of grip as a miata with that much power maybe with like 350-400 it would work or some 255 tires instead but i cant imagine that staying on track for time attack unless the driver had god like throttle control looks fucking cool tho maybe drift car in that setup?
I had this idea years ago when the S2K first appeared. Just never had the means or the money. I thought take that driveline from an S2K and put it in a civic, I would have done a coupe. Still a bad ass car though! 💪👍
Throttle actually dealt with the HP first and are gonna work on the traction next. bro that car looks like its gonna disintegrate with all that shaking 😂😂😂
Oh they want to upgrade to wider tires? After all the modifications (and custom ones at that), no one thought “hey maybe we need more rubber to put all this power down?”
Sounds scarier than a mustang, you can’t spin until you win in a RWD. It’s a badass car, definitely should do a wide body kit and 10-12” tires and then it would be a completely different beast
Good video but what I gathered from this and the swapped viper that throttle still puts their name on every panel and they’ve made 2 cars, although cool, basically it’s not drivable by any less than a pro and definitely not for the street. Like I said although cool seems pointless.
And honestly sounds a lot more mean when it's not banging off the rev limiter constantly. Here you lift and the tires are bouncing to fight traction for some reason just gives that sound a lot more grunt. Idk lol
@@mickeyandrade3435 if it’s vibrating at all(which it will cuz k series) or the tie down loosens up even just a little those plastic caps will rub thru with quickness..

Haha my less than 100 hp d series also has 205
Also on 215 in a mostly stock 9th gen si.... It fights for grip in corners but never in a straight line 😂😂
I still remember my neighbor had his restomod LS3 Camaro on 245s or 255s. I was like dude, you're gonna be spinning like crazy, lol.

I dont think it was made for drag it was made for circuit
Ok, David NEEDS to review Jimmy Oakes' Nissonda after this!
tire isnt as much an issue as lack of suspension tuning thats causing all the wheel hop. if they fix that then itll move out pretty good
