SPEED CLIMBING EVERYDAY FOR 30 DAYS - Beta Breakdown!

- Spent 30 days learning how to speed climb and quite frankly it was an absolute blast. In this video I highlight my process and break down the betas tried and the beta I used to cut my time down on the wall!
This has probably been the most time and effort I've put in a climbing video but it was definitely fun focusing on speed climbing for a while instead of bouldering or lead climbing. The change of pace gave me some time to just develop more explosive power and let my poor little tendons rest from all the crimping.
Shout out and thank you to everyone @ Urban Climb Blackburn, was a blast making this video.

Nice progress! Glad to see you decided to defer learning the Tamoa skip, I usually don't recommend it for new speed climbers until they get a good solid rhythm down on the full route. I'm looking forward to seeing more speed climbers from Australia over the next few years. I had a nagging ankle injury from just before the Korea WC, so I expect next season should go better, along with adding some new beta. It's great to see the gym has the official speed holds since attempting the Tamoa on knock-off holds is much more difficult. Cheers.
Thanks for chiming in Noah! Hopefully get to climb together someday and steal some pointers off you and Sam sometime so I can knock down my time some more too!
@@BeorOng sounds good. Maybe IFSC will have a WC in Aus or NZ in the future. I missed out on the YWCH in New Caledonia back in 2014.
I’ll be honest I wasn’t really interested in speed climbing, but seeing your efforts and analysis of adjusting beta to your style made this video spectacular and even inspired me to give it a go.
yay! honestly I think a lot of the hate behind it is learned... even I hated on it for a while, but since it was there I thought it would be a novelty thing to try and just be like -- yeah what ever that was fun... but now its like...the same feeling of sending a proj everytime you beat a new PB
Thank you for sharing this! I enjoyed seeing your journey. I've been top roping climbing for less than a year and I find the speed wall fascinating. I wonder if I could even climb it at all. Probably take me 5 mins! Maybe someday when no one is looking I'll give it a try.
Came to this vid after seeing Sam Watson get the WR down to 4.79! The WR break and this video have got me motivated to have a go! Hope you managed to break the 10s barrier? :)
The carpel tunnel is probably from all the editing lol I feel your pain
Haha, i think it was caused from an injury from bouldering i did to my thumb. I think the inflamation just ended up causing some pressure in the wrist
@@BeorOng gotcha. Hope it’s better soon. Nice vid!
Impressive progress man!!
Great work Beor! Killed it 👊
Thanks for timing
Dang, good on you! That improvement from day 1 is wild 👏🙌
Easier to make big improvements at the start, late game is shaving off milliseconds...lots of work still to do
@@BeorOng cheering you on for the sub 10! ✊
I'm telling Tom that you called it a hand jam instead of a fist jam and he's going to have you kicked out of our group chats
😭 goodbye climbers crag, it was fun lol
Idk why you chose the exact title but it made me click on the video, so well gone ig :D
Hahah i put it in the description but its just a lighthearted jab at magnus and geek climber and all the other youtubers who write pro or average climber does blank for 30 days haha
I am ashamed of my shity filming sorry beor I have disappointed you once again 😭
I made it work lol
@@BeorOng still could've been better even if U did make it work
This was very entertaining and had lots of great content and information. Great job!
No one has ever broken down the betas before...spent like 3 hours just slow motioning everything and noting every move lol...end of the day it was super fun making this vid though!
is this in melbourne?
Urbanclimb blackburn =) down in the southeast
I'm here cause legend says you are the Usain Bolt of speed climbing...After watching this I can confidently say you're not but that was one hell of an enjoyable and educational video. Now please can I get a belay?
Amazing progress mate!!
Btw, I'm curious to know about what's your current best time?
Well done!!! 👏
Nice!!! Way to go! 18 seconds - to close to sub-10 in 30 is seriously impressive! Took me MUCH longer than that 😂 are you still speed climbing? That sub-13 Wall of Fame is genius…
I took a 2-3 month break after doing a pulley, but yeah Im definitely still speed climbing. I actually enjoy it and its a good change of pace from lead and bouldering every now and then to develop more explosive power and just aerobic endurance, giving my fingers a break
Thank you for the video and well done. The breakdown by sections was incredibly useful. Just after seeing this I improved my "third section" and cut my time by 1.4s.
awesome to hear! im glad this video is helping and that more people are getting onto speed! honestly it doesnt deserve the hate it gets lol
Good stuff Beor, yay for coach Bryan
Watching him on the wall was insane
Legend himself 💪
Where? =p
