This is very simple to understand. For example, if we look at the human body we see it has one body but if there is pain on the left hand, it cannot be felt on the right hand. From this analogy we can see that Consciousness ( body) is one with many minds (hands). What is perceive in my mind cannot be perceived in your mind.

For me, the brain is like a Sense organ that is used by consciousness to perceive thoughts in the same way that eyes are used to perceive physical objects.

To whoever questioned my use of dialectical (post-structural leanings) re: cause and effect. Words, names, methodologies, etc. evolve. I think it started with Socrates and polemic discourse. My knowledge of the term from a historical materialist viewpoint (I am a non-dualist) means that economic infrastructure affects/creates cultural infrastructure and vice-versa (Karl Marx). It is easy to transform the concept to an ideological one through a nondualist approach to what is reality? The nature of our true Being as Oneness without dimensions/divisions means that all is consciousness (not the phenomenal mind): as the ultimate dialectical exchange of all energies. Of Oneness. OMG I just heard Francis say that our real body is the universe. So much better than ubiquitous materialism.

The Ananda sprouting ones are given the priority, the other ones are diverted to the realm : Welcome, but not interested, section.

All is an appearance. You, bodies, and feelings are also appearances. Look at the characters in your dream. All the same substance, correct? Does your dream character know the thoughts of all the other dream characters in your dream? No, but they are certainly of the same substance, correct?

Thought is vibration, maybe. I mean, maybe when you are on a vibration some thoughts come to you and their are good because you are vibrating hights and "they" (people who thought, or soul maybe) know what is going on. When you are low, bad thoughts. When you are high, high thoughts.

    Francis:
I have a hard time with the extravagance---the luxury lifestyle of so many of these new non-dual teachers-preachers even while appreciating what they are sharing and how much it seems--seems to be helping these people. I often catch myself thinking that these talks are a mix of "spiritual entertainment" and philosophical masturbation done for profit. Gotta afford that house!
My idea of someone who has truly awakened is one of compassion and simplicity with conscious use of the gifts of the natural environment. A lifestyle would then reflect a practice of causing the least amount of harm to others and to the environment. So now i ask Francis and the other teachers: Can everyone--can billions of people--have what you are having? Waste what you are wasting? And set an example of "abundance" (that popular law of attraction "hook") that helps folks justify asking for more plastic crap and more animal abuse and environmental degradation w/o guilt! Voting with the dollar! Give me more!
How many of you are vegan? Vegetarian at least? And if you eat meat justify that for me. It is not what you say but what example you set by the way you live. Francis this house of yours is abuse!
Please don't say it is all ok because it is not the real reality! Who truly knows what that is. My experience and conclusions are just as valid as yours and yours sometimes seem to be in defense of how you live as a non-entity in this illusionary dream of your own making!
    I don't buy it for a minute.
Any "thoughts" for this temporal entity.

Love Francis and I get the idea that he has to survive to and the space they hold it costs money etc. but most young people into advaita simply don’t have enough money to either put the whole 20$ they have in their account into the gas tank or buy a ten sack of weed and a burrito from 7-11 and $5 in gas let alone attend a retr at that cost more than a months wages at the guitar shop.

@@jonathanromero7658 Self-realization is a cure for suffering. Most young people are looking to stop their suffering by attaining things in the material world. Many more older people have simply had the life experience to know that nothing in the material world will put an end to their suffering or provide true happiness. They have tried it all and are ready to give it all up. It really has nothing to do with age, but where one is looking. Go within and inquire. It is the most direct way and costs nothing.

There is no "consciousness" apart from experience. So, the question arises: does it make any real sense to differentiate the two? I don't think so. "Consciousness" is something we assume as a basis for direct experience, but apart from the experiences themselves, where is this "consciousness"?. It is just a very convenient concept - particularly for gurus. But it is still just a concept, and therefore at least one step removed from reality. Maybe we don't need it.

    • @tbayley6
      @tbayley6 8 лет назад +1

Bob Aldo I'm not so sure. There is something about it that is not conceptual. When my 'experiencing' subsides, a different mode of consciousness is revealed that is not caught up in what it observes. You could say there is still something 'going on' I.e.a subtle experience, but even then it feels like there is something primordial, a kind of potential behind it. Whether or not that's true, I think people need to explore it, because the reassurance gained settles so many psychic difficulties. And therefore the pointing of gurus using terms like 'pure consciousness' seem to me perfectly acceptable.

    • @bobaldo2339

Tom As long as we remain aware that the symbol is not that for which it stands, the pointing finger is not the moon, etc., I think it is fine to use whatever words we find helpful in our spiritual practice.
