I really wish he took his shell off because I have always been very curious to see his real face.
When Sheldon finds out that under his shell was another shell, he is so sad and frustrated that he promptly gives up on being hatched.
He gets up and walks away as he says: "I guess I'm just an egg! That's all I am: just a poor, little, defenseless egg!" He looks and sounds clearly sad and resigned to never be able of taking off that damn shell! The only consolation he gets after that is being captured by a fox, then violently beating that fox up in self-defense and guessing that "there's worses thing to be than... an egg". That is the end of the episode. Damn!
Sheldon gave up too soon: they broke his shell just once and then he walked away after finding a single shell underneath that one! Who says there would still be another shell underneath if they broke that second shell? Damn! When I saw there was another shell underneath the one they had just broken, I wish that Orson had tried sittinhg on Sheldon again and hatching him again to break that other shell too. If they found yet another (third) shell under that second shell, they should still keep trying to hatch him until they finally revealed his real body, without any shells remaining.
If the writers reallly wanted to prevent Sheldon from being fully-hatched, I say they should show Orson sitting on Sheldon again to try breaking his second shell, then skip to a few hours later and show that shell hatching and revealing another shell (a third one). Then, Orson would try sitting on Sheldon yet again to break that third shell, then they would skip to another few hours later to show that shell breaking, revealing yet another (fourth) shell. Orson, again, would sit on Sheldon, they would once more skip to a few hours later, and that shell would break... only to to reveal that Sheldon still had a fifth shell underneath all those shells.
After revealing the fifth shell, Sheldon would get justifiably fed up and hopeless. That is when it would make perfect sense for the writers to end the episode the way they actually did. So Sheldon, clearly sad and frustrated, would give up on getting hatched and would leave the chicken coop, saying: "I guess I'm just an egg! That's all I am: just a poor, little, defenseless egg!" Few seconds later, he would be caught by the fox again, then grab the fox by his nose, slam him into the ground a few times, spin around and throw him into the distance, and then conclude there are worse things to be than an egg. Being hatched four times in a row, only to find out that he was still wearing a fifth shell underneath all those four shells that he had taken so many hours to break, would be a very good reason for Sheldon to feel so frustrated that he would be both angry enough to use so much violence and resigned enough to accept there are worse things to be than an egg.
Either that, or Sheldon would still be willing to try and break that fifth shell. Once again, Orson would sit on Sheldon, but this time the scene would fade to black, and the episode would end, without showing the fifth shell breaking. That would be a good way to show us that Sheldon would never fully hatch, no matter how many times he and his friends tried.😢

Wow! This is probably the longest comment I've ever received, and a good one too! I completely understand how Sheldon didn't really try any harder than hatching one layer of his shell. It's funny because a flashback in the episode "Egg Over Easy" shows Sheldon's eyes poking out of an open hinge on his shell, implying the layers aren't infinite. I don't actually think the writers had a set amount of layers for Sheldon to inhabit; it was probably one of those cartoonish hyperboles Garfield & Friends is known to do, but the fact that Sheldon gives up after one try is an interesting choice.

@@HiddenAcresClips I watched this cartoon and the episode "Shell Shocked Sheldon for the first time when I was still a kid, and I didn't find it funny at the time, because I was feeling both pity for the character and frustration for not having my curiosity satisfied.
So, I didn't like to see Sheldon giving up after just one try. But you made me curious: you said it was an interesting choice; what did you mean by that?

@@eunumsei2258 You'd think the wise Sheldon wouldn't immediately jump to conclusions. I just think it's interesting because I completely understand not having expectations satisfied as a kid, but I never thought about it that way until you brought it up.

@@HiddenAcresClips I would think Sheldon would NOT immediately jump to the SPECIFIC conclusion that his shell had INFINITE layers. I thought Sheldon would FIRST jump to the conclusion that his shell had FINITE layers, THEN he would try hatching a few more shells, and only THEN he would jump to the SPECIFIC conclusion that his shell had INFINITE layers. That is why I think that it would be wiser if Sheldon got hatched FOUR times, revealing FIVE identical shells underneath each other and only THEN stop trying. You see, the little guy was NOT happy about discovering that he was STILL wearing an eggshell after all the time he took trying to take it off. And he also was a somewhat calm and patient kid, at least much less impulsive than Booker. I can totally see Sheldon as somebody patient enough to keep on trying for a while before giving up.
And I also LOVE the possibility of Sheldon STILL trying to hatch after revealing the FIFTH shell, with Orson sitting on him again a fifth time as the screen fades to black and the episode ends WITHOUT an actual resolution. It could make sense, too, because Sheldon is actually a KID, and kids can VERY persistent in REFUSING to ACCEPT DEFEAT. A kid who tries to do the impossible and fails could KEEP ON TRYING instead of accepting defeat.

@@HiddenAcresClips Do you mean Sheldon immediately jumped to the conclusion that he had infinite shells underneath each other just by hatching the first shell and finding out a second shell under his first shell? So, didn't he even need to try breaking the second shell to realize that his shells were infinite?
