      He was on a lecture tour talking about his remarkable career and came to Greensboro, NC. I was about thirteen years old and I went with my dad. It was right after Thriller came out and he joked some about that as it was so hugely popular at the time. We waited outside the rear stage door by his limo and, after about thirty minutes, Mr. Price walked out the door and came towards us. He was very tall and had on a black overcoat. He approached me first and extended his hand. We talked a few moments. He was very warm and gracious. A true gentleman.

      @@glamdolly30 He was the first celebrity I met. I’ve met a few others since then but none matched the thrill of meeting Vincent Price. To see someone that legendary walking towards me was truly remarkable. Coming out of the rear stage door in that black overcoat was like a scene out of one of his movies. I didn’t want to wash my hand for about a week.

    Thanks for featuring this in my recommended, I do indeed enjoy my regular horror. One of the incredible aspects to Vincent's career was his ability to play both the good or bad guy. Most people only talk about his sinister roles, of which he had an untouchable talent, but he also played the victim, with equal ease & ease. RIP Mr Price, your legend will live on, thank you for your work.

  • @kriegerg69
    @kriegerg69 5 лет назад +23

    I'm very glad people are enjoying this...This appears to be my rip I did years ago from a VHS tape someone sent to me, and I got recorded onto DVD. I believe I posted this on a couple of horror sites. I recognize the particular imperfections and such in this recording, which is how I knew it was the one I shared years ago. I'm pretty sure I saw this the night it originally aired on late-night network television.
    Will see what I can do about trying to clean it up a bit, and get it into HD resolution...but I doubt much can be done with this recording. Would be much better if someone found the original video master or even a secondary broadcast tape.
    There's also a similar one done years later hosted by Anthony Perkins called The Horror Show. Will have to see about getting that up also.

    • @drgangrene
      @drgangrene  5 лет назад +3

      I really wish there was a proper dvd release, its a real treasure. But I'm just glad it exists. I'm not monetizing it, btw, it's monetized by the copyright holders (MGM and Warner Brothers). I just put it up here for folks to enjoy. If you have a cleaner copy you should definitely post it!

    • @kriegerg69
      @kriegerg69 5 лет назад +2

      I'm going to try and work with the recording I already have on DVD. Otherwise, I can try digging out the VHS tape I have and making a newer, possibly slightly higher quality recording to work from. Depending how this turns out I'll let you know.

    • @kriegerg69
      @kriegerg69 5 лет назад +2

      Well, I tried on both specials using Handbrake, and it really didn't help a whole lot. I can still upload what I did here, but there really wasn't a great improvement. If a recording is bad enough, there isn't a whole lot that can be done with it to improve it.

    Peter Lorre didn't want to make Mad Love. When he came to America he wanted to film Crime and Punishment but they made him make that creepy movie Mad Love first.

    Once I saw these familiar sets, Vincent Price, Billy Van, and heard the bad jokes I figured this had to be from the makers of The Hilarious House of Frightenstein.

    Being Romanian (Transylvanian), I found the reference to Vlad Țepeș (especially the way they pronounced it) most amusing.
    Glad to see they did some research. Not everything they say is accurate, though...
