Mike C It was accidentally shot down. 800 flew between a AQM-74 target drone and two surface to air missiles during a C.E.C missile test. Navy shot down a target drone in this same area weeks before the incident. Navy was testing submarines launching SAMs at airborne threats. These tests were conducted in M.O.A. , W105 and W106a-b were active naval gunnery areas almost directly below the flight.
