Ya agreed. There are pretty obvious and some are unrelated to Tolkien's legendarium. Now if you asked "Who is Thranduil's father?" that would have taken a real geek. Oropher is the answer. As with so many of these quiz videos, the questions are based on Peter Jackson's Lord of the Rings, not Tolkien's Lord of the Rings.
21/25. I missed the release date of the animated movie (guessed 1983), who tells Denethor about Boromir, the Gollums age and, sadly, even the river where he found the ring. At first, I guessed the correct answer, judging by logic and proximity to the place where Gollum then resided, but I got misslead by how the correct answer was portraited in the movies. It really didnt look like what its name suggested there. I am kind of disappointed by the result, but I am happy I remembered how many kids Sam had, The name of the orc, and what gift Boromir got from Galadriel. None of whom I mentioned in the movies, only in the books. the other questions were relatively easy.
Interesting video, though not "hard" and i think it would be best to stick to either the books or films, as the answers differ. One big thing though, is the question about Déagol is incorrect, The One Ring was found in the Gladden River, a tributary to the Anduin and said to be "in the vales of the Anduin" so it is an understandable mistake! I would also recommend a Tolkien Scholar help you with spelling, for example it is Théoden not Theodin.
You should have made clear that you were talking about the movie version. For example, nowhere in the three volumes of the book version does Aragon tell Eowyn how old he is. In the book it is Gandalf who tells Denethor that Boromir would have taken the ring. In the book version we are not told the total number of Sam's children nor all of their names. In the book the exact number of arrows that kill Boromir is not mentioned.
stephenglasse9756... You're quite right Stephen, the books don't state an exact number. In 'The Two Towers' it just says (and I'm paraphrasing here) that Aragorn finds Boromir leaning against a tree as though he were resting but that he was pierced with MANY arrows. However if QuizNerd25 is referencing the films then he is still wrong, the movie clearly shows Boromir being hit with three arrow before he is unable to stand any longer and falls onto his back on the ground. At this point the Orc then loads another arrow and shoots him again whilst on the ground helpless. So, if QuizNerd25 is referring to the film then the correct answer should have been FOUR arrows. Please forgive me for being a nerd but Tolkien is a bit of a passion with me.

19. That "how many arrows killed boromir" Q is unfair. I'm sure the book doesn't specify.

@@beefabob Tolkien is worth being passionate about. Hopefully PJ can direct THE SILMARILLION and do it better than THE HOBBIT.
