Why is Lyle 'crazy'?
Maybe he forgot to take his meds?
I thought he was more obnoxious than anything
I hope Lyle is alive and happy and well, and I hope he'll tutor me in the ways of living one's best life. He's a friggin' rock star.
Edit: I'm a huge Richard Dawson fan, but "Gene would you tell Lyle to please stay on his mark" was a nakedly transparent and ham-fisted way of trying to steal back the audience, and it was petty and frankly kinda cruel. Just because Lyle's stuff was poppin' and he was having a great time dishing it.
Panelists:
1. Edward Asner
2. Brett Somers

5. Richard Dawson

I don't blame Richard Dawson for getting pissed off at Lyle. He was too weird.🤯
More than just weird... he was rude, abrasive and insulting.
And he was a jerk………
there's nothing wrong with Lyle. He's just a guy being himself. Why don't all these 'I'm better than you' jerks just shut it. Take a look in the mirror- you ain't perfect
Cry harder.
I like Lyle. Why is he labeled "crazy"? Just because he exhibited some unique personality? Some people need to lighten up and relax 😴
Same with the lady who was a bit odd. Seems a lot of people today have some perception problems.
I liked Lyle too, but when he said he was there to meet actual celebrities RIGHT BEFORE trying to win the money what did he expect. Celebrities seem to be very thin skinned with an elitist attitude. We are the little people to them. I won't paint all of them with those attributes, but most think they are "better than you!" Hell, many of the celebrities don't take it too kindly when their fellow celebrities joke around condescendingly.
@@Imnotyourmamaluke Then it seems you and the panel didn't get his joke. He mentioned country music legend Roy Acuff who was 73 at the time. He intentionally made himself sound like a bumpkin hoping to meet a regional figure. If he had said Burt Reynolds or Robert Redford it would have been insulting. One comment on this video said a search showed he did stand up.
You are spot on that they were thin skinned, as these were indeed minor celebrities, but they did have national recognition. They did manage to get some bigger names on the panel and sometimes it seemed to make Richard uneasy, but Brett never cared, she would jokingly insult them for any poor answers.

Very astute analysis. Now that you've pointed it out, I wholeheartedly agree with you. To be perfectly honest, Brett doesn't bother me at all. I do like this show for the most part, but there are definitely patterns dispersed throughout the game which favor certain contestants, mostly the attractive ones and minorities. Almost without fail when you see the set swing around with one of the aforementioned contestants present, you can say goodbye to the current contestant. I'm not sure if this is always the case, as 1976 is the first year I started watching, so I have a lot of years to catch up on. In fact, I'm not quite sure why I started watching the 76 year. I think it was recommended to me. Anyway, sorry for the long response. These shows are my reprieve from reality at the present moment. Take care of yourself.
He wasn't crazy.
LOL Lyle wasn't crazy . He actually was funnier then a lot of the panelists had been over the years . Richard to me was more condescending then Lyle was.Lyle I think was too intellectual for that game. Richard had a holier then thou attitude once he got family feud and would be on match game too, towards other panelists and contestants. Earlier on he was great, had a great attitude ,was funny etc. The only 2 that their personalities did not change through the years was Brett (even after she sobered up)and Charles . I grew up watching Match Game and loved it as a child
i liked Ed Asner on MTM, but here, he seems pompous, arrogant, insufferable and self-important.....
I’m not an expert but I think he may be on the autism spectrum
@@cathrynhudson105 who? Lyle?
Musicfan Hawk yes,Lyle
You are crazy as a loon!
HAHAHAHAHA!!! I LOVED THE GODFREY DANIEL REFERENCE!!!
😥no closed caption here...
I can't tell if Lyle is being glib or just rude.
8:28 I just knew Dawson was going to have nothing to do with this clown.
Looks like Richard really got testy when he didn't get picked for the audience response question.
What else is new? He's been like that for a long time.
he didn't get picked YAAAAAAAY
I sometimes wonder if Gene gets as annoyed with Brett as I get with his treatment of the women on his show, panellists and contestants. I kinda' think he does.
I really I really like Gene rayburn's we need to as the old man periwinkle on the show he's really a good
ROFL!! Another fine after dinner tapping episode. ;0) The return of Dawson and Rayburn comedy team! ;0) Repeat blind date question or have I watched too many episodes now.. ;0)
Oh Lyle is the best contestant ever!!!! I laughed so hard.
He is weird
Tracy Brooks I laughed, too; I thought he was funny.
He was not funny
I loved the haughty exchange between Brett and Richard, where she asks him in a semi-British accent, "How's your show going...Family Feast or whatever..."
I thought Lyle at times was funny. Then he just went on and on and on. But he did seem to insult Trish. Stockard Channing over Trish?! On what planet?! Then he insulted the whole panel by saying they weren't stars. Richard clearly didn't like him. He didn't wave when he was leaving. I do believe Gene was glad to get rid of him as well. And no I don't think Richard was tanking the super match. I don't mind a funny contestant, but he was a bit much.
...the one with the feedbag under her nose.
You can tell Gene was HAMMERED 🍷 🍺 🥂 this episode lol
He seemed the same as always.
Gene doesn't drink, he has liver problems.
Brett on the other hand, had to be rather schnockered to blow such an easy definitive answer as “flat.”
Patti was a sabateur
LYLE IS A FUN KOOK 😂😂😂😂😂
Grumpy Richard.😂
I think snow job woulda been more appropriate if the genders had been reversed
Well, as of 5/4/2022, Mr. Google says that Mr. Bliss went on to meet his maker on February 13th 2022, at the ripe old age of 87. So..........that's a weird looking 41.

Also:
Ed Asner was a shitty panelist. I mean, every panelist has the ability to sabotage a contestant, but with contestant Gerri Gaye, Asner made it so obvious. "Left me the stuffing?" C'mon Ed.
No, Brett, the operative word doesn't help YOU any.
*accretive
Just another way that Brett hogged up airtime.
@@mikehunt4986 who would you have liked to see more of?
@@pencils812 There was this one particular hot blonde who I think was on the show for just one week. She was stunning.

Conveyor Belt (6 seconds; music replaced)
Threw in a toaster
I would have said dog whistle not train
I would have said wolf whistle thinking that would match Lyle, based on his comments and behavior.
Brett is seldom a match.
No, she really matches a lot. You just have to watch a few shows.
@@Michelles222 that's how I remember her being when I used to watch this as a kid in the '70s; that Brett matched a lot.
Glad this guy lost and the girl won. He was such a condescending toadstool. Yea, I know it was like 30 yrs ago but asses are asses no matter the decade
I bet you cleaned that up, you wouldn't believe.
Lyle's been drinking contaminated water. How did he get through contestant school?
They liked his quirkiness.
0:11 ANNND... Richard get banned!
Richard banned himself when they changed the format for the bonus round
This contestant Lyle was so obnoxious
🐒🐣🐣
Lyle thinks he's funny .... He am wrong
You am right
@@storylass9071 😂😂😂 I almost peed myself. If I was on Match Game, I’d say I almost tinkled myself.
That Lyle is a pain in the posterior! Things that make you go ummm. and dang, he won over Jerry Gaye!
Everything goes. It'sanything goes. i swear they must have changed the answer for him to win that.
Worst contestant EVER. Think he was gettin' on Richard's nerves.
This guy was a jerk
I agree, and a creep
No need to be so hard on Richard.
@@jjryan1352 I thought Shannon was talking about Gene.
