Bro, Egyptian IS-3's were decimated by Israelis M4 shermans. IS-3's were really bad, expensive and unreliable. Not to mention their short life expectancy. T-54/55's were monsters though after they've resolved basic design issues.
@@janchovanec8624 IS-3 performed really well against 90mm guns and bazookas, actually. A 1945 tank vs 1952 tank (Patton). Shermans stood no chance, no idea where you got that from. T-54/55s were leagues below when it came to armour and firepower, only got an edge after getting HEAT/APDS which 122mm guns also had.

The first version (M50) was equip with an French 75mm (improved version of Panther 75mm). Then in the 60s, they upgraged it with the French F1 105mm capable of firing a HEAT warhead (spin stabilized) that is able to pen up to 400mm of steel armor. In other words, it can destroy early T-62s.

This is so depressing. I’ve wanted this tank for a few years now. I initially went down the German and American lines years ago and remember dreading coming face to face with an is3. Now that I’ve finally unlocked it just yesterday, it’s been power crept into oblivion. Mobility and apfsds are the name of the game now.

I fly way more often than I tank, don't play super often, and don't have premium. I unlocked the IS-3 9 months ago, and it's still the most recent Russian tank I've unlocked lol

You brought up a cool concept, Engineer corps tanks. Now that snail has given us tank corpses, they need to add in the tanks that can deal with them. Mostly for fun as they are clunky bois but I like the idea of bringing out a plow tank.
I get that feeling with the penetration model. I shot a dicker max Pzgr.rot at a t-34 1942 three times. First one didn't pen the front, second one hit the gun mantle and didn't cause damage, and the last one was somehow eaten by the tracks. I went into the protection analysis and all three of these shots were fatal.

This is honestly one of the most fun things to fight with and against. Meme it all you want, but this thing is both a formidable ally being able to eat most shells and deal quite a bit of punishment. Bit of a different story when this thing's opponents are smart or carry HEATFS. Not even uncommon to be in a stalemate engagement with one of these things. I know I do a lot with my T34
Brilliant, I have never played war thunder but I watch all your videos, this one I have had to save to my favourites due to "both my tracks are gone, wanting to buy tracks" just cracks me up everytime I watch it, i even had tears. Thank you so much.
If say every 3rd match enabled significant mud/snow that makes all light tanks, wheeled vehicles and SPAA useless on maps without paved surfaces. Then on some matches heavy tanks could have a role. Likewise, have some matches where thick cloud cover negates any CAS. That again would possibly change the meta of that match. A bit of variety without any major changes to the game mechanics.

You can kill strv from front Phly. He has a fuel tank exactly in the nose of his spike, just below the barrel, tricky shot but one-shot kill. Finally, it's time that you learn something from me, and not other way around : )
i just started playing again. IS-3 is fun when you're not getting a full up tier. Really wish they would make tiers better. and the IS-4 is at 7.7? jesus.
@@oguz1071 Yes. The Long 88 can kill the IS-4M from the front, and thats what it currently faces in a *full downtier*. At a lower battle rating than the IS-4M you also have the RU-251, Jpz 4-5, Le KPz M41A1, M48A2C, MKPz M47 G, and SPz BMP-1. They all have HEAT-FS which can easily pen the IS-4M literally from an infinite distance away. Thats in a full or partial downtier and just counting German vehicles. The IS-4M is just hilariously bad if it gets an 8.7 uptier vs stabilizers and APFSDS. The Maus at 7.7 makes just as little sense.

Tiger II vs IS3 is a very fun battle! I still play a lot at 6.7 and 7.0 for Germany and always face T44 and IS3. They are my deadly but respected nemesis.

What? No. Early Cold War NATO has a bunch of tanks with weak armor because they hadn't quite figured out reactive armor and composite and thought mobility was more important. If you use flank and/or surprise, many older tanks can do well. I'm doing alright with the BT-5, BT-7, and KV-85 in uptiers into the early Cold War.
I have been killed countless times in my IS-4 by AA, and It’s so stupid. I’ve been killed by the Ostwind II, Gepard, Falcon, and Wirbelwind all from the front in an IS-4. WT really needs to fix their ballistics computer because getting killed by an AA from the front in a heavy tank is dumb asf

@Phlydaily The Ostwind does have 100% chance of penetration if you aim right under the barrel. Because the shell isn't bouncing into the 30mm Driver hatch but the 20mm hull roof. You even said at the beginning to aim at the big muzzle brake, guess what, aiming there also means shots that deviate low will bounce right down into the hull roof on top of the drivers' head if the gun was pointed straight ahead and generally keeps everyone else alive. But in that situation, your gun wasn't pointed straight ahead but off to the left, which means the round bounced into the propellant storage next to him. You were also doing the protection analysis from a range of 500m, while the shot that killed you was more like from 10-20 meters.
Imagine if they made type of battles based on year tanks fought in, so like early 1944 battles... and every tank could fight based on when it fought, Germans costing more to respawn. The point is, during especially some times, heavy tanks would not have to suffer anymore. Well, at least the German ones, especially maus lol.
Try the PT-76B it has a stabilizer that works at full speed so no need to slow down and it has HEATFS at 5.3, but it isnt too fast only 44 Km/h (i think). And the armor isnt much (can be penned by 50. cals), but i find it fun having a full stabilizer and HEATFS at 5.3 Attempt #2

I played the Leo yesterday, I killed 4 IS-3 and 2 T10-A in almost every single match. I would always go with the Leopard 1. TBH the new BR chance is very odd, why put the Leo down to 7.3, it worked just fine at 7.7.
IS-3 should not have gone down. You don't need a maxlevel crew + Ace spaded one to understand that. Great job Gaijin, making the game better every time you touch it. Also see the premium T28 being 6.3 while the T95 is at 7.0 with an outrageous repair cost.

I've had .50 cals go through the turret ring of Centurions, so the Ostwind thing makes perfect sense in Gaijin logic.

I wish there was a RB mode for era specific. Cap’d by a date range regardless of BR. Also wish the game matching would also balance with numbers and not just BR. To a degree. No 15 vs 1 foolery.

What? No. Early Cold War NATO has a bunch of tanks with weak armor because they hadn't quite figured out reactive armor and composite and thought mobility was more important.
If you use flank and/or surprise, many older tanks can do well. I'm doing alright with the BT-5, BT-7, and KV-85 in uptiers into the early Cold War.

I have been killed countless times in my IS-4 by AA, and It’s so stupid. I’ve been killed by the Ostwind II, Gepard, Falcon, and Wirbelwind all from the front in an IS-4. WT really needs to fix their ballistics computer because getting killed by an AA from the front in a heavy tank is dumb asf

@Phlydaily The Ostwind does have 100% chance of penetration if you aim right under the barrel. Because the shell isn't bouncing into the 30mm Driver hatch but the 20mm hull roof.
You even said at the beginning to aim at the big muzzle brake, guess what, aiming there also means shots that deviate low will bounce right down into the hull roof on top of the drivers' head if the gun was pointed straight ahead and generally keeps everyone else alive. But in that situation, your gun wasn't pointed straight ahead but off to the left, which means the round bounced into the propellant storage next to him.
You were also doing the protection analysis from a range of 500m, while the shot that killed you was more like from 10-20 meters.
Imagine if they made type of battles based on year tanks fought in, so like early 1944 battles... and every tank could fight based on when it fought, Germans costing more to respawn. The point is, during especially some times, heavy tanks would not have to suffer anymore. Well, at least the German ones, especially maus lol.

Try the PT-76B it has a stabilizer that works at full speed so no need to slow down and it has HEATFS at 5.3, but it isnt too fast only 44 Km/h (i think). And the armor isnt much (can be penned by 50. cals), but i find it fun having a full stabilizer and HEATFS at 5.3

I played the Leo yesterday, I killed 4 IS-3 and 2 T10-A in almost every single match. I would always go with the Leopard 1.
TBH the new BR chance is very odd, why put the Leo down to 7.3, it worked just fine at 7.7.
Play the Conq, it still does well at 7.7 as a heavy, bounces HEATFS fairly well. I had quite a lot of bounces on my stream earlier.
