Can you please tell me why did WFLA-TV dropped their previous "(Remember You'll Have 8) On Your Side" news music package from Gari Communications in favor of Sample Music's "Bold Horizons" in 1995?
WFLA, the NBC affiliate in Tampa FL, is owned by Nexstar Media Group. WFLA is the sister station to CW/MyNetworkTV affiliate WTTA in St. Petersburg, ABC affiliate WMBB in Panama City and CBS affiliate WKRG and CW affiliate WFNA in Pensacola.
Rod Carter previously from NBC 13 WVTM-TV Keith Cate from WIAT 42 since the rebirth of Channel 42 after entire WBMG staff was fired in December '97. Josh Thomas from ABC 33/40.
I remember watching #NewsChannel8 each morning before my bus picks me up and takes me to Jefferson HS. Remembered that one news story about one student (not one of my classmates though) who was murdered while attending that school.
The first opening was the same as what NBC affilaiate WILX-TV 10 Lansing had in the early 70's when their news was called Newscene 10 before changing to Action News in 1973.
You need to offer some WFLA-TV news opens from the 1960s, when Arch Deal anchored the news in the evenings. That would certainly bring back memories!!!
You are missing a bunch of opens. On RUclips there are opens from The Spirit of Tampa Bay era from 1982 and 1983, On daily motion there is a weekend open from 1987 by weatherguru76, On RUclips, Live at Five opens from 1988 and 1989-90, quite a few from the Bold Horizons era of 1995-2000, plus you have the chronological order of the opens from that era wrong as they had the inside of the NBC peacock in the logo until 1996 when NBC told them they were breaking the logo rules so they had to change the logo to show the entire NBC peacock logo.
That's not "Part of Your Life" being used in the first open, it's a theme that I have heard on SouthernMedia's News Music Search Archive called the "WTLV 1972 News Theme." The radar pinging sound effect comes from the then-current "NBC Nightly News" open and its use dates back to the early '60s on NBC Radio newscasts. (For some reason, the open also screams "early '70s TV news" for me.) WFLA's longtime anchor Bob Hite was the son of CBS announcer Bob Hite, who voiced the open for the "CBS Evening News" from 1972 until his retirement from the network in 1977 ("wmbrown6," please correct me if I am wrong).
@@DisOneIsCool Other stations using this theme were WDAF Kansas City and KFDX Wichita Falls from the Archive, and WKY (now KFOR) Oklahoma City from my memory.
"Tampa Bay's News Leader" and "8 on your side" is my favorite quotes of WFLA-TV channel 8.
WFLA is the NBC station for Tampa Bay St Petersburg to sister station WTVJ in Miami
Including WLS Chicago, IL and WRAL Railegh, NC from the 2011-2014 ABC 7 Eyinntess News logo during the open and WRAL did not have a open
Wfla is now a nexstar media group Inc station
A heads-up, WFLA launches new graphics tomorrow (8/10/2020)
Now you can still watch #8inthemorning

There is/was a 1965 WFLA news open floating around on YT.
They had a unique looking 8 logo during that era.
