I can really feel the Christmas spirit here. The way he spreads all that joy, hope and love with everyone he meets. I know this will be a wonderful Christmas movie I can watch with all my family members, especially our children. They love the color red on christmas.

A revenge filled action hero is the style that suits him and I'm so glad to see him finally cementing his footing on the big screen with more movies! I've been such a huge fan of his career since the Killing and RoboCop and it makes me so happy to see him in a film like this. I can't wait.

Not to undercut this movie, which will almost certainly be a best of the year movie, but you should also check out Primal and Madness Combat. They're both entire animated series with practically no dialogue and insane, violent action.

No the guy who made the movie made it easy for the trailer guy. John Woo is known for the most beautiful action movies of our lifetime. The man is a genius at making action beautiful. He did face off and mission impossible 2 as well as a lot of chow yun fat action movies. My favorite director.

This movie, is AS REALISTIC...as it could get in terms of a father. The emotion...the fear, the rage...the confusion. This movie showed the protagonist as close to being one of us. Im 32, father of 2, a boy of 9 and a daughter of 8. I could literally imagine myself being there and...i got no words. AWESOME MOVIE 9.9/10 for me. Not gonna say anything more to avoid spoilers. Just go and watch it!

I can really appreciate that the trailer seems to suggest that great deal of training and planning were required before old buddy could get his revenge. It’s refreshing compared to the trope that being angry is enough for a regular person to get revenge on criminal organizations.
Or as I put it in my comment, not another ex-military guy. So its so refreshing to see someone actually train and not go on rage alone or used to be in service etc.
Broken Arrow an action classic? Good joke never heard that one. A Bretter Tomorrow, Bullet in the Head, The Killer, Hard-Boiled and Face/Off. That are John Woo's absolute action classics. Hard Target and Mission: Impossible II are pretty good too but the rest like Broken Arrow, Windtalkers and Paycheck is crap. Even his last big action movie Manhunt wasn't nearly as good as them.
For those interested in Kinnaman: Before Joel Kinnaman became a Hollywood star he starred in a Swedish Cop/Gangster movie series called Johan Falk (GSI), as the incredibly charming and likable Frank Wagner. The movies are in Swedish, but you can probably find them with English subtitles. They are really good, and Joel Kinnaman really carries the series.
9/10 I totally recommend !! If you enjoy movies like : Taken, John Wick, The Equalizer...you're good to go ! (There's no dialogues, so no need to stay so focus trying to understand what the characters are saying, nor the expositions)
2023 so far has been an action film lovers wet dream, we’ve had John Wick 4, Sisu, Extraction 2, Equalizer 3, and now John Woo’s return with Silent Night. It’s enough to make a grown man cry🥹
I don't know why, but this movie has me not only feeling giddy for a new John Woo film, but also feeling oddly glad. Our area had a number of gang-related freeway shootings that ending up leaving innocent children injured and/or dead. I feel that this movie is not only a great, kick-ass movie by John Woo, it's also a cathartic revenge fantasy for those who feel some lasting trauma from those real-life events. RIP Jasper Wu and Eliyanah. Wish the people who killed these poor babies could suffer this same fate.
@@Hawk7886 No, the children were in other cars that got in the way of the gang shooting. Some adults driving those cares were also injured or killed, too. Gangs have been using our freeways for shootouts more often lately. I've grown up in this area (so I've been around for decades), and it's never been like this before.
People mistakenly feel (maybe because that is how it is promoted) that this is another John Wick, brainless shooting video game action movie and i thought the same but to my suprise it was not....this is one of the best tragic drama movies i have seen in years, since i can say from Hours with Paul Walker!! It doesnt have an over the top action hero, the guy is not Punisher and you can easily see his human feelings in everything he does like for examble, in his first kill he actually throws up not beeing used to it. It carries a lot of pain and the story is building on that so much that in the end the bullets hit harder than you think. It is a gem for me and a rare masterpiece of filmaking and acting. Also.. eveyone who is a father and loves his kid will feel 10 times more this movie...

honestly went into the movie knowing nothing about it except that it involved Christmas and action. It really surprised me to find out that very rarely were there any words spoken in the movie. But it ended up being super cool for a short movie!!❤
Remember meeting Joel in my town back when he still lived in Sweden he was recording the Swedish movies Johan Falk witch from he become famous and than moved to the states. Nice to see him getting more roles. We chatted for a bit and also we toke a picture together i remember.
It's impressive that even given his age John Woo still has some ingredients to add to his film career, this film shows that even after twenty years he's still in shape, it was one of the most fun films I've seen in recent years ❤
this movie could have used a bit of finesse a la Law Abiding Citizen. i get that the main character Brian wasnt as educated or experienced as Clyde, who was a CIA black ops "engineer". Bryan was your typical handyman, with zero tactical experience, who never held a gun or knife. this movie was more of a bust in and shoot, with no planning, tactics, or stealth. overall, it was incredibly done with no speech at all, and you could feel the raw emotion. i am hoping there will be a sequel. after all, they didnt show him dead, right?

Don’t spread BS, there is plenty of dialogue in the movie. The only one that’s quiet is the main character who gets shot in the throat early on and he can’t talk.
It's great but it's not simple shoot'em up revenge film. It takes time to developed the main character's grief slowly turn into anger and hatred. A character study film like Taxi Driver.

Hard Target and Mission: Impossible II are pretty good too but the rest like Broken Arrow, Windtalkers and Paycheck is crap. Even his last big action movie Manhunt wasn't nearly as good as them.

Before Joel Kinnaman became a Hollywood star he starred in a Swedish Cop/Gangster movie series called Johan Falk (GSI), as the incredibly charming and likable Frank Wagner. The movies are in Swedish, but you can probably find them with English subtitles. They are really good, and Joel Kinnaman really carries the series.
I saw the entire series. It was great. He wasn't the main character, but he was memorable.
He’s also great in The Killing!

9/10 I totally recommend !! If you enjoy movies like : Taken, John Wick, The Equalizer...you're good to go ! (There's no dialogues, so no need to stay so focus trying to understand what the characters are saying, nor the expositions)

This has got to be DUMBEST MOVIE i have watched in a decade.
2023 so far has been an action film lovers wet dream, we’ve had John Wick 4, Sisu, Extraction 2, Equalizer 3, and now John Woo’s return with Silent Night. It’s enough to make a grown man cry🥹

I don't know why, but this movie has me not only feeling giddy for a new John Woo film, but also feeling oddly glad. Our area had a number of gang-related freeway shootings that ending up leaving innocent children injured and/or dead. I feel that this movie is not only a great, kick-ass movie by John Woo, it's also a cathartic revenge fantasy for those who feel some lasting trauma from those real-life events. RIP Jasper Wu and Eliyanah. Wish the people who killed these poor babies could suffer this same fate.

@@Hawk7886 No, the children were in other cars that got in the way of the gang shooting. Some adults driving those cares were also injured or killed, too. Gangs have been using our freeways for shootouts more often lately. I've grown up in this area (so I've been around for decades), and it's never been like this before.
People mistakenly feel (maybe because that is how it is promoted) that this is another John Wick, brainless shooting video game action movie and i thought the same but to my suprise it was not....this is one of the best tragic drama movies i have seen in years, since i can say from Hours with Paul Walker!! It doesnt have an over the top action hero, the guy is not Punisher and you can easily see his human feelings in everything he does like for examble, in his first kill he actually throws up not beeing used to it. It carries a lot of pain and the story is building on that so much that in the end the bullets hit harder than you think. It is a gem for me and a rare masterpiece of filmaking and acting. Also.. eveyone who is a father and loves his kid will feel 10 times more this movie...

honestly went into the movie knowing nothing about it except that it involved Christmas and action. It really surprised me to find out that very rarely were there any words spoken in the movie. But it ended up being super cool for a short movie!!❤
Remember meeting Joel in my town back when he still lived in Sweden he was recording the Swedish movies Johan Falk witch from he become famous and than moved to the states. Nice to see him getting more roles. We chatted for a bit and also we toke a picture together i remember.
So happy to see Joel getting more kick ass roles like this. He’s twice as good as some of those getting twice the work. I’ll be seeing this for sure 👊

It's impressive that even given his age John Woo still has some ingredients to add to his film career, this film shows that even after twenty years he's still in shape, it was one of the most fun films I've seen in recent years ❤
this movie could have used a bit of finesse a la Law Abiding Citizen. i get that the main character Brian wasnt as educated or experienced as Clyde, who was a CIA black ops "engineer". Bryan was your typical handyman, with zero tactical experience, who never held a gun or knife. this movie was more of a bust in and shoot, with no planning, tactics, or stealth. overall, it was incredibly done with no speech at all, and you could feel the raw emotion. i am hoping there will be a sequel. after all, they didnt show him dead, right?

Don’t spread BS, there is plenty of dialogue in the movie. The only one that’s quiet is the main character who gets shot in the throat early on and he can’t talk.

It's great but it's not simple shoot'em up revenge film. It takes time to developed the main character's grief slowly turn into anger and hatred. A character study film like Taxi Driver.
