- This is Pt 12 and the finale of my video building guide for the Polar Lights 1:350 scale TOS Enterprise model kit. Here, I'm working on the last steps to complete the model by putting on the rest of the small detail parts. After that we have a look around at the details of the completed model. This entire video build series is available in order under the playlist tab on my channel.
Just bought one of these to build in Boyd’s honour. You’ll be sorely missed.❤
Hope to see your project soon.
BEAUTIFUL work Boyd. I am truly honored to receive it. She will have a place of honor in my house. Many thanks, again!
To have a Captain's Log of her hull being laid down is magic.🖖
Boyd has done one hell of a job here. Enjoy the work of this genius :)
An artist at work is a sight to behold!
Simply gorgeous! What an outstanding job Boyd!
Thank you sir.
Mister Crompton, you are a Master Shipwright. She's a thing of beauty and your talents do her and her designers proud.🖖
Simply a thing of beauty! Next up, Enterprise E 1/1000 scratch build! Lol cheers!
She's beautiful Boyd! Tim's going to love his new ship.
Looks AWESOME!!!!!
Amazing work as usual Boyd! What a beauty.
Praying you’ll do the refit. I know it’s long but it will be really informative to know what you would use of the new electronics out there, like the mega board, etc. Plus, there are processes of painting and assembly that we missed out on with your last version, years ago that you’d have a chance to show us for the first time. I can’t tell you how important it is to see you do EVERYTHING. The stress and fear leave immediately. LOL!
Man these videos are addictive, I guess that means I'm sorta a Trekkie?
Thanks so much for taking the time to do this video!
Boyd, I am building from 1/350 all the way to 1/2500 of the TOS Enterprise’s. One day I will tackle the 1/350 Refit Enterprise with lights. Awesome job sir!
That looks like a very nice Enterprise when it comes as dogs on front of the sales that's spinning effect there would make it look even better.
I also would rly apreciate a series like this for the refit. I soak it up. But take your time. If it is stress, it's not worth it. The videos you made about it already help a lot. Thx for this series.
The last episode😪 in enjoy this series, all 12 episodes are awesome, thank you very much for this fantastic journey😍
It's like visiting the Smithsonian sir your a master of modeling electronics and painting the years you have spent building these help me a novice I was so lucky 12 years ago that you and others where there for help ideas and reference thank you.
WOW absolutely amazing sir. You are an incredible model builder.
I never get tired of seeing this ship it's my all time favorite this build series has been awsome boyd you are the man when it comes to this ship... great work 🖖😁
Just what it's all about, bringing models to life.Fantastic job. Wish there were some larger Excelsior kits though, Good looking ship.
Boyd, you're a master. This has been a great series to watch. Thanks for sharing your time. We can watch paint dry with you ;-)
Now all we have to do is build our own :-)
Hi, Thanks for this great serie and sharing. I've receive my model box and will follow your tips. Bye Jean-Yves
Stunning result, the ship has turned out spectacular great job.
Thanks for the extensive tutorial on how to build the ship, it was fun following the build tutorial.
Can't believe I've just watched 12 episodes of this lol.hate star trek but the Enterprise is cool I'll give it that! My dad loved it it was never off the TV when I was a kid the originals with Cpt kirk I have now got alot if his collection all bubble wrapped and stored away I am a modeller myself armour mostly but still follow other builds amd actually building a massive 32nd Dauntless from Midway just now first aircraft so always love to try something new!
Fascinating
You are like the Bob Ross of modeling. Just absolutely amazing. Happy little nacelles! :)
Thanks Boyd for taking us on this journey
Absolutely awesome!
Fantastic job!!!! Thank you very much for the time and attention to detail in this video series. Really looking forward to the Enterprise Refit, whenever you get time. Cheers
Fantastic build, this will be very helpful when I build mine 😁
Nice , Boyd. I built my 350 scale in 2017 following your tips. My model has the Tenna controls for lights and sound for phasers and photons. Thanks again for you attention to detail on these video builds. You are a true master modeler
Amazing as always Boyd! I did this kit a couple years ago. You may ask then why did I watch this build series? I did it because it's always great to watch the master at work, and there is always more to learn....and yes I did learn a lot. Thanks again Boyd for all you do for our hobby!
As usual your video series about this iconic ship was incredible Boyd. I'm always impress of your knowledge of model building and tools to build them never cease to amazed me. I really enjoy your videos and use your information and recommendations to apply on my own model kit build. Thank you and keep making your video always a pleasure to watch them....👍😉
Fantastic job. And will be a big help when I do one of mine.
Wonderful work! For what it's worth, the little thing on the bottom of the sensor dome is supposedly an ion cannon, according to numerous sources.
The phaser according to production notes
Very well done, Boyd. The one I bought from you years ago is still the pride of my Star Trek collection and working well. Time for me to try my own hand at it now.
I wish I'd Frost in the domes on my 1/350 U.S.S. FRANKLIN Model ... Now that I think about it if you haven't built the U.S.S. FRANKLIN Model yet Boyd I'd recommend you give it a go building that one .
I'm bummed. You finished this kit in just over a month. I have been working on my TOS ENTERPRISE since December of 2019 and have yet to get the nacelles on. But I sure do enjoy watching you build the star trek stuff. Keep on modelin
Amazing work!
I realize you probably have quite a number of request for the addendum video , But please don't forget doing a little helpful hint section about using the window mask.. I have a few concerns on that situation...
Thanks Boyd.. And thanks for all your Vids!
Master builder Boyd, really enjoyed watching this build.
I'd like to see you kit bashing other types of TOS starships. Tug, Loknar, Larson, Tokyo. Wonderful work.
Great build series Boyd. Thank you for doing this. I finally feel brave enough to get my model going with I get my current builds finished.
Very cool. I watched all 12 parts before even opening the box. I now have a better idea of the time and detail it will take to do a professional build.
Looks great !!!! Professional job through and through !!!!
Beautiful.
Incredible work.
Yep, In the past I myself always thought people have been making those blinking lights on the back sides near the shuttle bay way to bright on their models... Oh, I believe that little pointed dohicky at the very bottom of the planetary sensor array dome was initial called an Ion Cannon when Matt Jeffreis first designed the ship
Brilliant Job
Boyd, I want to thank you for the series. I haven't built a model kit in at least 10 years, the last being the 18" Enterprise. Have you ever published a paint guide detailing the paints/colors that you use?
Beautiful build. Glad your thinking about doing another refit. Can’t wait. I still have my kit ready to go, got the tenacontrols mega board, orbital dry dock masks, trek modeler paint guide. I’m in progress of redoing my garage for building projects and doing my own channel. Quite possible I’ll build mine then upload it and definitely give your channel a major shout out.
sweet nice job
Appreciate the build series - many thanks for taking the time. Took me back to the days when there was a new Trekworks video to look forward to every few days; and to get the benefit of your experience in building these has been great. Hope you'll get the chance some day to do the same for the Refit!
Absolutely amazing work, you are a true master.
Most definitely those things on the inside on the front of the water sales that has the lines on it they need to spend it is asked the overalls effect to it.
This is an Amazing model .. Boyd you always excell yourself when you build these , with my models i love to do any phaser damage effects on mine , from the series or films .. Amazing work though ...
Good afternoon. I have been watching the whole series, my model showed up today so I want to gather everything I need before I start. Would you be so kind as to list the number and types of LEDs needed. Thanks for all the in depth advise and knowledge sharing. Be Blessed, Thanks, Mark
Looks better than my Master Replica E 🖖
great job
I'm starting my first one tomorrow! Just got done with the amt 1/537 refit. The pylons were a pain but turned out pretty nice. Can't wait to start this 1/350 tos tho
Sweet so amazing!!!
Hey Boyd, really nice job on this build series. Very educational. For your addendum, I’d be interested in seeing if on another Enterprise build, you could show how you do the bussards with the motor that spins the inner disc. I’m curious what you do. Maybe you do the same thing you did on the Discovery Enterprise? Also, I was curious why you don’t do the rust ring in the saucer? Maybe it’s a customer preference to leave it off on this one? Thanks!
I'm amazed and so impressed with your TOs 1350 scale build but here I'm at Part 12 and I also noticed I'm part 11 your hand and your body gets in the way of these tiny little Nubs that you're putting in on the sausage section and then the cell and I don't know what you're doing how you're doing it I don't see it so if you could reshoot this and put a close up and put the camera on the opposite side kind of at a 45° angle would that be right no actually well like 2:00 down so we could see what you're doing because I'm thinking about doing mine but because I've never built one I'm really nervous about doing it but I'm still very nervous because I can't see what you're doing so I'm still at a loss and I'm still very uncertain about attempting this myself please help Eric Sahagun ... sorry for the lack of punctuation but my fingers don't fit in that tiny keyboard
Fantastic work
Which Tamiya clear colors did you use? I imagine it was the acrylics. I highly recommend the enamels and lacquers instead. Better color depth and self leveling. I've found the acrylics don't quite get that rich, deep color.
Wonderful!
NICE ! ! !
Hello Boyd, thank you again for the updated TOS Build. Very helpful.... Quick question, when painting the front nacelle bussards, I know you scuff the inside of the dome, do you paint with clear tamiya over the scuff area? Airbrush? Do you red? Orange? Mix? Thank you in advance.
Just beautiful. After watching the entire build, it occurs to me I won't be able to have a normal life without one. Please advise how I get on the list for a future build ?
Hi Boyd. Another masterpiece. Quick question: When you use white paint to diffuse windows, what kind of white paint are you using? Thanks for all the great tips, my friend. Peace.
Thanks, it's craft acrylic Folk Art white, thinned with water and applied with an airbrush.
@@TrekWorks Sorry to be a bother...but when you thin craft acrylic Folk Art white, what's the ratio part for parts of water to paint?
@@leslauner5062 I think he mentioned in a previous video that it's about 1 to 1, but, of course, that depends on the needle size and air pressure.
Hi Boyd. Loved this build series. The ship looks awesome; I'm about half way through my 1/350 TOS build. :-) Just a query: have you ever experienced an issue with the Polar Light lighting kit motors being able to turn the nacelle fans? I have the latest kit and am unable to get either motor to turn the fan dome once friction fitted into the nacelle. Thanks for any feedback.
Absolutely incredible workmanship. Guess I will get started on mine after two years! Question on the shuttle bay approach lights....on Gary Kerr's model and in the picture on the back of the Polar Lights lighting kit it seems the outer lights are red, the center is green and the vertical ones are yellow. Since you are the guru of this model are there screen caps from TOS that show the center light as the yellow one? Did they vary in differing scenes like so many other things on the studio model? Just curious before I build mine.
Love it, great job, have question for you, did you ever try the tenacontrol refit bleutooth ltg kit, i am looking to try it , but a bit scare !
rather than the dull white on the bu8ssard, ill be spraying a little gold/'orange on the inside so power off looks more realistic
Thanks, Boyd! Loved watching this build! Beautiful work, as usual.
One question: Why couldn't you use the same method of frosting the Bussard domes as you use in frosting the other clear parts with the white acrylic paint?
It looks absolutely beautiful Boyd. In the past it appeared that you painted the buzzard domes clear orange but not this one. Am I just imagining things or did this change for you over time?
Awesome work as always. Great build series. What was the reason you switched to acrylic based hobby paints from the solvent based paints you used a while back?
I like to use the craft paints where I can. It's less expensive, better for your health and in most cases it works great. I still use automotive paints and others like Tamiya and Alclad it just depends on the subject.
Where did you find the fiber optic pieces, and what diameters did you use. I've done an internet and come up dry. Great build! Cheers
Magnificent!
What would it cost to have you make me one?
by any chance did you write down how you did your lighting? It looks absolutely lovely.
If you go back and watch the episode of Captain Kirk's Enterprise and look at those round things on the front of the water sales you see that thing inside that had the lines on it then spin.
Is this also avable in the Netherlands?
Awesome build, Boyd. I have the 1/350 polar lights light kit. I’ve heard the issues with the noisy bussard motors and issues with the LEDs fitting around the shuttle bay to make the shuttle bay and hull fit properly. Do you know how to tackle that?
I'm curious as to why the bussards have a flashing green or blue light as part of the spinning pattern.
Thanks Boyd. I really enjoyed tuning in to this complete build. Loved the finally with dialogue and music at the end. You truly are a genius. I have a Jupiter 2 that in time I hope you can build paint and add lighting and if possible some sound effects and music. How do I go about contacting you with details? I'm not sure what the scale is as it's stored away. I believe it's the biggest scale available..
Wow, NICE!
What is that thing hanging from the bottom, where the interplanetary sensor light is at?
Could you add a link for the stands you use? I haven't been able to find anything like them. Much appreciated!
Me I don't have that part moving on sale so that it looks a lot better I think if they did.
Hello again I reached out to you the other day about the round 2 lighting kit bussard collector PCB board I was having trouble with. I got a message from round 2 stating they've been out of this part for quite sometime and are focusing on a new lighting kit as a replacement maybe you can pass a warning out to your viewers to buy with caution so they aren't left scrambling for alternatives after buying this kit..
Thanks..from Rick@dronetario
Hey Boyd, awesome build and thank you for making this step by step series!! Now I have a question. I’m newbie at lighting and I tend to see a lot of modelers use 12v power sources frequently. I’m wondering why you choose to use 9v and if there are any specific pros and cons?
I use 9 volts most of the time because I like the brightness level of the LED's at that amount and the lower the voltage the cooler the LED's operate and should last longer.
Hi. I got this Enterprise and the Refit two years ago. Two month after that I had a stroke which hit my lift side. Would you make these two models with one hand or should I just sale them?
I can't find that pistol grip dremel tool anywhere Boyd. Can you tell me where you bought yours? Thank you
Dremel quit producing them a few years ago, it is too bad because I sure like mine and wanted to get another one.
I know you have a lot of experience with the polar lights lighting kit. It's frustrating me to no end! Many of the connections came loose so I had to reconnect them. One of the pcb boards for the bussard collectors leds stopped blinking..the center led's still work though. Is there a way to fix this issue?
Actually I don't have a lot of experience with the Polar Lights kit. I used it once on my first build of the ship and never used it again due to the poor quality. That was seven years ago.
How would I go about getting in line to have you build one for me? I live just a few hours away.
what is your price to build this model
How much for a completed kit.... you can IM me
How much for one
Did I miss something? Why are a group of windows unlit?
right under the saucer
How do we contact you to commission an Enterprise build?
He has an email address in the 'about' section.
Fantastic!!!!! If you build and sell? Give me a message back!! Awesomeness!!
