It should still be viable! But it will definitely be significantly harder with the new defense levels
One thing you could start doing is experiment with an army that uses 7 zaps, nobody will be ready for it :)

If you want to spread your zaps across different targets (for eg 4 on wizard tower, 3 on cannon, but 7 on the main pack of defenses you're targeting), 7+1 would be better, but if you're sure you'll be targeting all zaps in the exact same spot, 6+2 is better
