    I just came across your video trying to find the best way to take care of my cory eggs I found in my tank yesterday! I have a small 1/2 gallon plastic container with water from parents tank and an air stone but was so worried about fungus since I have NO Methylene Blue but I DO have ICH-X! Thank you so much and wish me luck, this video made me less worried about the eggs now since they are turning darker and I see little eyeballs! :)

    I have angel fish eggs and a fish expert by me said to use methylene. I separated the eggs into a 10 gallon and used the water from the community tank that the parents are in. She told me to use the methylene as directed on the bottle. So I used 1tsp for per 10 gallons, but I feel like it’s too much? What are your thoughts?

    • @BentleyPascoe
      @BentleyPascoe  9 месяцев назад

      Likely more than you need. I would do a water change to dilute it Unless that person uses the same dosing, then keep as is.

      You want to do it post fertilization, it could prevent fertilization otherwise. Cheers!

    Oh goodness, THANK YOU for addressing this! I've been so frustrated for the last three years because I just can't get eggs to hatch! I have super hard, high pH water, and this explanation really helped me understand the problem I'm having. I'm not a hopelessly bad fishkeeper, it's just the hard water!
    I'm not sure where I could find RO water, but you mentioned distilled water? Any tips on how I could use that to help, or do I just need to bite the bullet and buy a small RO unit?

    • @sarahwoodring5587
      @sarahwoodring5587 2 года назад

      After a year of trying, I finally have angelfish wrigglers! I added 50% distilled water to my 8.2 pH, off-the-strip hard water and added ichX. Still had some eggs fungus, but it doesn't seem to have spread to the other eggs. THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU for the advice and explanation!!

    I just loved the way you have explained everything.. my problem is liitle different and im not getting the right solution. Actually my anglefish eggs hatch they become wrigglers but they die as wrigglers.. is it M blue thats killing them? Eggs are hatching after just 24 hours and what prople say is to start changing water on day 2.. thats 48 hours since the eggs are in methylene blue. Is M blue killing my wrigglers? Can it kill.. when should i start changing half wafter of the egg container?? Hope ur advice safe many lives😊 .. i have tried hatching eggs 3 times so far

    • @BentleyPascoe
      @BentleyPascoe  2 месяца назад +1

      @@NutritionFacts101 I would say try experimenting with doing the water change earlier to see if the methylene blue is the problem. I know from some experience with master breeder Dean, he pulls his eggs out of the methylene blue very fast. In the sense that as soon as he starts seeing wrigglers he removes the methylene blue to get them into fresh water.

    Hello. You mentioned the eggs turning blue in methylene blue. Is the eggs turning blue bad?

    • @BentleyPascoe

      That is typically a sign of an unfertilized egg.

      @@BentleyPascoe okay I wasn't sure if a super diluted amount would have an effect, I was wondering if it would just dissipate and become neutralized from all of the detritus and other things in the water. Any tips on getting angelfish survival rate to 90+% outside of the first month of life? I lose a lot of babies in the first 2 weeks of a 100-200 egg spawn but if I can get them to survive 2 weeks and a day they’re bullet proof. I usually have 10-20 babies survive of 100-200 egg spawns. I do, I've used it in a spray bottle to mist plants with REALLY bad BBA outbreaks before. I just lowered the water level (or pulled out the plant) to expose the algae, gave it a gentle mist, then refilled the tank. the H2O2 (peroxide) almost immediately breaks apart in water to become safe
