Finding out that first-time messages get highlighted really leaves me torn. Part of me wants to make sure it's positive and let everyone bask in warmth. Part of me also has a rough time fighting the impulse to throw down with something like Does this look infected?
I’m not a regular on any of the channels for you four dudes but I have to tell you that I genuinely enjoy seeing your faces come up and listening to you speak. I don’t quite understand everything to the same extent that you do but I find it fascinating and I learn things. You guys are awesome!
I started doing this recently, I created a text to speech plugin for Zotero (a reference manager used by academics) and every lovely message someone sends me I save in a special note in my dev notes
I‘m mod on a smaller Channel and there definitly are really nice first time messages but at least 50% are just Hi and another 25% are just answering if chat gets asked to do something (vote, join marbles or something like that)
I think I said something joking/teasing Thor about a situation he was talking about, so I doubt I made it into the Discord XD. Some random person gave me a sub out of nowhere a few seconds later - so that was nice even though I barely use Twitch - feels bad though I bet someone else would have appreciated it more.
My friend makes her living off streaming. She is scared of growing too big because she loves reading and responding to EVERY message. So much that within 10 minutes of starting stream she wont be caught up to the CURRENT messages in chat for another 5-10 minutes. After about 30 mins it slows down but I'm tempted to start doing some of these things anyway.
I don't understand why anyone wastes their time with hey, or hi - it's on par with talking about the weather, it's mundane, pointless; just get to the point.

It probably depends on the streamer some of them would love the weird message. Others the wholesome.
