This wasn't what Lucas visioned at all. It was for a generation growing up without fairy tales. in a world of cinema, full of dull, depressing, realistic violence. I grew up in the prime time era, when star wars was new and fresh, it captured pure fantasy adventure. The force surrounded all living things and it binds us all together. It gave confidence to boys and girls around the world and showed that anyone could be the hero, a Rogue, a Princess, a Farm boy. Even the evil villain found redemption. Totally agree. I am a straight man. And a series I enjoyed years ago was Queer as Folk... it was about the gay community and it was pretty graphic. I loved the show cuz the characters were well written and DESPITE the difference in sexuality, they were relatable and interesting to follow thier stories. But I'm homophobic cuz I reject Mando being pansexual... so what do I know?

The Scoundrel's Cantina so this is just my opinion and how I'm interpreting all this, but I don't see the boycott as actually doing anything, it won't bring George back, hell the man even said "why would I want to direct another movie when I know people are going to hate it no matter what." Or something very similar to that. His plan to create more than six movies was never going to come true while he still owned Star Wars, since the fans and writers basically did all that by adding as much as they did with the EU, so there would've been no point for him to make anymore movies. Also, I see fans saying Rey is over overpowered, yet they'll like characters such as Starkiller, the man was overpowered as fuck yet people will be okay with that because "it's part of the game", that's a poor excuse. Abeloth is another perfect example, she was stated to be more powerful than Grand Master Luke, yet I never saw anybody complain about her. Revan was able to split himself into two separate people, and that's acceptable? Nihilus could devour planets, yet people are fine with that. Traya could wield three lightsabers yet and fans are on bored. Any other Sith Lord in the SWTOR lore could be considered overpowered in some aspect and people will say "sounds reasonable" people complain about Rey magically knowing how to fly is unreal, yet they don't take into consideration how long she was on jakku, she would had to learn and teach herself how to survive for the years she was alone. Look at jakku, it's littered with imperial walkers and Star destroyers, which could very likely have had information an on hand solo, the millennium falcon, Luke, Leia, the rebellion, the Jedi, etc. Were her abilities a little over the top for some who's just discovering them, yes, but she was in no way a Mary Sue, if she was truly a Mary Sue, she wouldn't have had to survive on jakku for as long as she did.
Onto the story regarding that Droid that was supposed to be "Force-sensitive" that exploded so that Luke would pick R2, I'm sorry but that is a story that I simply can't get behind, Skippy wasn't Force-sensitive, he clearly had mechanical problems, which caused him to explode.
Does Disney's EU have problems yes, it hasn't been fully flushed out yet, but will be with time. Some of their characters such as Rose and Admiral Holdo, are incredibly badly, that I acknowledge. I can't stand either of those characters. I'm also well aware of how bad Rian Johnson was at directing the Last Jedi, the multiple plot holes were a huge problem throughout the entire film. I do want to state that I understand why Ackbar was killed off they way he was, Ackbar's actor died prior to the film starting it's production, I can understand why he died the way he did, it still sucked a little but I respect the decision nonetheless.
Know before you people say that I support Kathleen Kennedy and her SJW agenda, I don't, I can't help but laugh at every statement she makes. Did I like TFA, yes, and I acknowledge that it very closely resembled A New Hope, but does that make me a so called "fake Star Wars fan" as some fans who take it to the extreme like to call me? No, I am a Star Wars fan like each an every one of you, but I can't stand back and say that Legends/EU was perfect when it wasn't, if just as many flaws as Disney's EU. While I know not many of you will care, I will be going to see Solo, because I believe the movie deserves a chance and will reserve my judgement on the film until after I've seen it a few times.

What makes this so pathetic and desperate is that Star Wars has never put a focus on sex. These are light PG-13 films. We didn't see Han and Leia or Anakin and Padme being overly affectionate. I'm sure there are plenty of characters in Star Wars universe that would like sex with other species or droids, but it has no purpose in the story.
This franchise is supposed to be a fun romp. It s supposed to have a Indiana Jones, Oceans 11, Back to the future, Fast and Furious type of vibe. Just 2 hours of ridiculous fun and escape.
Lando's sexuality has no impact on the story or character, especially because it was never a concern in the original films. It's not like he had some mysterious relationship in the films that made us ask the nature of his relationship preferences. No one cares who he sleeps with.
Why are we so obsessed with who everyone sleeps with? That's not an important character detail in this franchise.
Oh guess what, Mace Windu and Yoda had a Gay relationship, did that help them defeat Palpatine? No. So who cares. Han and Jabba had a secret love affair. So what. did that help them destroy the death star or defeat Vader? No. So who cares.

The funny thing is that as far as Star Wars goes, they've already done an inter-species relationship in Canon, and since Disney took over too. The animated Rebels series has a romantic relationship between two of its main characters - the human male Kanan and the female Twilek Hera.
Now, is said relationship a central focus of the "Rebels' story? Do the writers keep trying to emphasize it and shove it in your face every 10 seconds?
A solid "No" to both. There is one episode where the relationship is explored in a little more depth as part of a greater plot, but for the most part is kept as a minor part of the story that gets touched on every now and again.
Feloni keeps it reasonable, although it probably helps that Rebels was created as a kids show.

When watching game of thrones, one of my favourite characters was Prince Oberon. He’s bi/pansexual. I’m a straight, white male. At no point did I think oh god I hate this guy because he’s pansexual. No one got mad about this. You know why? Because it had a place in the story, in the show, in the genre. It fits, it works. They wrote his character brilliantly and it is actually shown in the show. It’s actually shown, it’s part of the story therefore no one has a problem with it.
The reason this whole Lando business makes no sense is because they just tagged this onto him as an after thought whilst it has no relation or correlation to the plot/story or the films or genre in general. If they had put a scene in the film where Lando flirts with men/aliens whatever you want and it actually played a part of the story then most people would be like oh ok, so he’s bisexual or pansexual, ok. But it’s not, it’s just a stupid label they have put on the character to fill their diversity quota and continue their virtue signalling. I do however also agree with Jeremy’s point, don’t go changing characters that have already been established. Leave them as they are, if you want to explore something like this, just create a new character.

No, Lucas had an agenda of his own - turn SW into a display case for film-making technology and easy translation into merchandising and video games. The storytelling was secondary at best - the "making of" documentary clearly shows him cobbling together scripts at the last minute, and admitting he was muddying the waters of comprehension. And when your agenda gets away from making a great film with great characters and a great plot, you see what happens - the movies become renown for looking "fake", being dumb, and the merchandising dies on the shelves.

Well this has definitely done it for me. I'm 47 ,grew up with Star wars since I was 6 in 77. The REAL star wars brought everyone together, regardless of race, Creed, religion etc. I admit, I bought a ticket to see Soylo because the"little kid" inside me still loves Star wars and wants to be transported back to a galaxy far far away.. however the adult me has had enough of this new lucasfilm/Disney garbage...so I just cancelled my ticket and got a refund.... Star wars will forever have a special place in my heart,but that's only EP 4-6, then 1-3.... that's it. Heck I even gave the force awakens a try, but aside from the nostalgic feeling it gave me,story and characters were bad. After the last Trainwreck, that did it. Sad thing is I don't think all of this boycotting or talking about them is going to make a difference. they feel superior and untouchable.. even if their movies tank, they're never going to accept or admit defeat.. they'll go down with ship.....keep up great reviews Sir

You know what's crazy? I've seen both Star Wars Clone Wars and Star Wars Rebels and the animated cast of that was incredibly diverse. There were plenty of blacks, plenty of different types of aliens (not everyone was human) and few Asians sprinkled in here an there. People had light skin, dark skin, tan skin, big noses, little noses, pretty, ugly, fat, skinny and the women were all badass, not because they were born that way like precious little REY, but because these women were strong and courageous and spent YEARS developing their talents. I guess we can partially chock it up to the fan base of the animated shows being smaller than the movies but the shows did it RIGHT. They didn't make a big deal of diversifying their cast they just DID it and didnt make a big deal out of it--that was the work of FILONI and LUCAS (who were still doing Clone Wars together at the time before Disney took over). Proof that Star Wars can be the way Disney wants it to be without it being overkill.
I'd like to know in what reality it makes any damn sense for a business and its employees to attack loyal consumers (the fan base) while pandering to an extremely tiny, uncaring minority and still expect success.

It really does suck cuz Star Wars used to be my favorite sci-fi franchise. And now these bastards are just filling it up with identity politics that never needed to be there in the first place. After the Last Jedi and the situation with Lando now being a pansexual Star Wars is dead to me. To me the expanded universe is the true Canon I don't care about anything Disney produces. It is entertainment, nothing more, nothing less. If it is not entertaining you, don't watch it. I stopped caring about Star Wars after "The force Awakens" for many reasons; bad acting, horrible story telling, terrible plot contrivances and basically written by a narcissistic 12 year old girl. The movie was atrocious on so many levels, but far and above all that, it was not made for me, a 40+ white male. Star Wars had become purposely exclusive and even insulting to my demographic. Okay, fine, if that's what Kathleen Kennedy and Disney want to do, they bought the franchise, they can do that. However, I will never again spend a penny or a minute of eyeball time on the Disney franchise ever again. As far as I am concerned, the Star Wars franchise ended with the flawed yet still entertaining prequels. What is being pumped out by Disney really has nothing to do with the Star Wars that I enjoyed growing up and into adulthood, its really just another batch of their 'princess' movies when you boil them down.

I predict if Soylo a Soy Wars story does not preform like expected for Darth Kathleen and Lucas films, they will blame it on the negative publicity on having to fire the previous directors.
