“Fred’s going to look like Charlie Sheen” …… I’m in tears!
Loving the sound of the rain on the canvas. So good. Malcolm would be proud!
After many years of not having the chance of using my camp ovens, I have now dragged them out and using them again. I have come across your videos, they are great, and inspiring me again. I remember watching Malcom, many years ago. Well done.
That milk placement @ 4:04 felt like a glitch in the matrix.
Malcolm was a great Aussie icon opening up Australia to the world just like damper is to camping
Malcolm was a childhood idol of mine. It’s great to hear these stories!
Also, hilarious episode!😂
Camper from the states and I used to watch your vids years ago and very happy I’ve returned, Cheers Malcolm
Looks like an amazing set up and the rain tops it off beautifully in the bush.
So sad how Malcolm passed away. Bet he would've loved the series.
Bloody rippa of a vid this week you did Malcolm and every Aussie proud with this one top effort fellas
I often watch the preview with RUclips’s captions because “Welcome to Fight a Fork” makes me laugh every time. Small things amuse small minds I guess.
Love a good damper Harry!
Watching Guys like Malcolm Douglas and les hiddins were so good to watch growing up 👏
Everyday's a Sunday with Malcolm. What a legend he was
It was with such great sadness when I heard about Malcom. I met him in 1972 when he was promoting 'Follow the sun', I was 7 yrs old. He became my bushman hero. Malcom started me on a lifetime of fishing and bush trekking. We bumped into each other again at Narooma when he was filming 'Crossing the bar', pure coincidence. We had a long chat and I told him I would catch him up in Broome as I was headed that way. I wanted to do the Derby to Wyndham run. Sold my boat to pay for the journey up and headed North. Christmas 1989 nearly died in a car accident in Cairns which slowed me down. Got stuck there, bought a bigger boat and bugger me, I'm still here. He was such a huge and positive influence on my life. I wished so much that I could have caught up with him again.
I can still remember Malcolm coming to our school 50 years ago in Wollongong to do a little bit of a wildlife presentation, i was only about 7 years old, i still remember it like it was yesterday, the man was a true legend and is sadly missed.
Same here in 1972....Follow the sun.
What doesn’t go well with a cold beer, Malcolm would be proud of you guys, well done and you’ve given me inspiration to try a different damper from my normal recipe that has beer in it, a stout also is great. Cheers.
Oh and you gotta try damper with apple in it and have strawberry jam and cream on top, yum, double yum.
That block of butter is the real MVP of this episode
Great cook up, Malcolm Douglas is a weekly watch in our house.
You're living your best life Harry!! Well done on what you've created
30:14 Love the bloke in the background. Do you call him Russel?? 😄🤠
Giddy up Malcolm! Great vid! Kids will love doing these!
I grew up watching Malcolm and now I'm going back to revisit damper in my next fire.. thanks guys 🤟
Wheres Waz's sweater from? that thing looks awesome! Cheers Malcolm!
I gotta have that sweater! Anyone know what it is?
As a kid, I loved watching Malcolm Douglas on TV. I also loved Waz's Mixed Herb Damper. We only just got back camping in WA for 2 months, so on my next camping trip, we will definitely be trying these dampers.
Having grown up watching the Malcolm Douglas shows and Bush Tucker Man series and books its always great to be reminded of their qualityeducational shows.
You guys are talent - greatly entertaining ep. Still not convinced that damper is better than flat bread or sour dough that rises in a warm car and then tossed in the camp oven. But much more importantly - you introduced a West Ausie to Malcolm. I have binge watched ep after ep. Malcom Douglas has got to be right up there with Phillip Parker-King and Wilfred Thesiger. Maybe you could do a twist on desert frog cooked in the coals à la Malcolm.
My mum introduced me to currents in damper for sweets 50 odd years ago! (I used to put a little pack on them in my kit as a scout) Yeah! I grew up with Malcolm & the Leyland Bros. Some of the best camp food is sometimes the most basic! Herb & beer 👍Sweat with a whiskey or rum 😁Loved this, so many memories all round!
pretty excellent, loved the Johny cake and so well explained for the damper. Simple but well explained. others try and don't make it sound as easy.
Malcolm Douglas and Vincent Serventy first developed my interest in Australian Wildlife with the TV show Nature Walkabout.
I got to meet Malcolm in Broome at his croc Park.. what an absolute gentleman he was. Even happy to stop for a photo. Legend. Great ep.
Thanks to you both, and to Malcolm!
Malcolm would be proud! What an icon! Keen to get my damper on next outing. Great video :)
Here is my recipe.4 cups of self raising flour 2 spoons of powdered milk 1teaspoune of sugar half a teaspoon of salt 500 ml of water , stur with knife. Rest for 30 minutes, heat oven . Place damper in oven top side on bottom, after 15-20 minutes put trivet on bottom & add heat to top of oven not to much & cook for another 20 minutes or until completely cooked. Like Malcolm likes it😅
Hey Harry, loved this vid and also listened to Fire to Talk podcast the other day, felt like I was there with you guys. Btw I have an old Malcolm Douglas Cook Book, must pull it out and see what camping delights I can try. Cheers Marg
We didn’t get TV till I was 17 so I’ve never seen Malcolm and his television series. But I make a finder damper and it’s bloody delicious. Uses ginger ale. Great work guys.
Another fun episode with Waz with some interesting results. Malcolm was a legend and sorely missed.
Love your videos Harry, keep up the good work !
The Johnny cake is definitely a cake. However those caramelised bananas you made would go so well on that! I’m sure Malcolm would eat it either way!
Need some strawberry jam along with the cream with the desert damper! Maybe chopped apple instead of currants (and more cinnamon) as an alternative. Ooooh, and custard!!!!
Ah you remembered to pack the salt this trip I'm sure "Malcolm" would be proud! great video guys
I will be trying the sweet recipe that Malcolm did next time away camping. Awesome idea and simple..
Recently discovered your videos and funnily enough, from Scotland. Binge watched a few now and loving the range of cooks and budgets along with the tips. I have misophonia so have to watch a lot of it on mute because oh my, those squidgy eating noises 😳 Not sure if there's anything you can do mic wise when you're sampling? Any way, love a reverse sear and picked up so many tips already. Great stuff! Congrats. 🍄🥩🍟🍻🏴
Just finished listening to Waz's podcast with Harry and jumped on to watch this , great to hear Malcolm Douglas's name feature in both the podcast and this vid.
Malcolm. I was surprised when you first said to try coffee with your johnny bread and then the beer came out. That was great. Cheers guys. Enjoy the beer.
Luv the Herb Bread recipe - I reckon 'Malcolm' would have done this to absorb his cook-ups - YUM!
Cooking damper is just great fun camping and not too hard to perfect. I'll have to give one of Malcolm's Johnny cakes a go. Haven't tried that yet.
Thanks for the tips👍
Damper with ginger beer every time. “Malcolm” would love it
Malcolm is~was the Best ...
Another great HowTo Video Harry, Woz & Fred ...
Gunna try each of them next Trip ...
Rolling it up and cooking it in a scroll is genius. I'll be adding that trick to my damper for sure. I love me a can of Mornington Brown Ale and a teaspoon of vegemite in my damper mix.
Eat Malcom’s dampers at Mandurah boat show and they where great. Great vid 👏👏👍👍
My special is a beef stew with a damper mix cut into 4 & put on top about 20 to 30 mins to ready. The Malcome idea where eveyone gets a big damper to soak up the stew. Never had a complaint.
Keen to try these out. Malcolm would be impressed.
I grew up watching Malcolm Douglas what a legend of a man, a great man gone way way to soon.
The only 2 things that are off my diet is the bread bread roll and chips. Would love you to do fire to fork flat bread for when your out bush you can make fresh flat bread. Oh made your beef stew with a twist of Port added to Guiness marinated for 24 hours. Wish I could upload the final photo. Ordering your book.
Good old Malcolm ,The rough and ready man’ a real bloke. I like these type of camping with no chickens to spoil everything
Brilliant content 👌 learnt alot thanks guys legends in outback ❤❤❤🎉🎉
I once made damper for Russian Scouts while canoeing down the Volga. We used soft wood for the fire. It was not hot enough and the result was awful. The scouts were very gracious and said nice things. Malcolm would have told me the truth.
Hi Harry and followers. Does anyone have success cooking damper in Bedourie camp ovens?
Malcom - thanks for the great recipes!
I’m going to the Bathurst 1000 this year with my wife and 3 kids all under 12 years old we are camping for 4 nights I’d love it if you could do a video covering a menu for us to try , the fire to fork 1000
That was bloody brilliant you blokes. Reckon Malcolm would’ve had a laugh too.
Malcom Douglas, Les Hidens and Steve Erwin were and will always be my favourite Australian celebrities.
Youz did Malcom proud there boys, very well done.
that last one looks really good, im wondering if i could make it in a pot rather than a camp oven im thinking it would be a wicked thing to make tramping/hiking
Lol watching the pan flip attempt: “I mean…the ingredients are in there”
Malcolm, tell me again the ingredients used.
Savoury or sweat I like the swirl approach. Thanks Malcolm for inspiring your recipe and vid guys. Can you use a can of pear and peach bits instead of water for a sweat one? Had it this way about 30 years ago but don’t know recipe.
It's worth a try.. why not give it a shot and see?
Anyone know what jumper brand Warren is wearing?
Malcolm :) Keen to try these!
Been listening to Woz and Andy from the get go. I didn’t know about “Fat Chance”. Just watched it. Woz needs to do more, he’s good at it. I guess you go alright too Harry😂. A good combo. Malcolm would be proud of those dampers.
Malcolm was great to watch, you guys are a crack up. More things to add to my burgeoning camp file. Thank you
Gee your shows are great 👍
Dreaming of Malcolm’s 70 series troopy!
I don't care whether its cake or damper! when you put the sugar into the melted butter and dipped, jesus!
Malcolm new what he was doing, with a stew? fantastic, cheers.
Miss doing a damper, cheers for the reminder, hopefully up to Malcom’s expectations lol
Give the banana one a crack with with golden syrup and top with walnuts. I’m sure Malcolm is enjoying a cowboy beer and a sandy, butter soaked damper watching on.
Hey Harry not sure you see this I just been watching your videos I noticed u said the damper went well the beer why not add some beer to the dry mix??? Just a thought I had
Anyone know what shirt warren was wearing please ?
Not sure I've heard of 'Malcom' before. Great video though.
Hazza use icing sugar instead of granulated sugar, will make Damper lighter and fluffier.
Hey Malcolm, it was gooderer with beer! 😁🍺
Malcolm would have loved those dampers. I know the cricket ball joke as the moth ball joke. A bloody big moth lol. I do enjoy a good damper, follow a few of Ron Wilson's recipes. Going to have a go at these though. There goes ultra low carb 🙄
Malcolm is definitely a sweet-tooth!
Great recipes.. thanks!
Cheers 'Malcolm' .
Dunk in a nice curry on a cold day yum.
Awesome damper Malcolm would be proud
I loved Malcom his outlook.
Not called johnny cake but in canada its called bannock. Can use it was a pizza base, as bread etc.
Malcolm says yes it goes well with beer
Fun fact - Malcolm Douglas and I have the same birthday, I attribute my awesomeness to this.. 😂😂
Nice, i put olives in my savory damper. I think Malcolm would too.
So wheres the dogs he was waiting so patiently for some to good ep fellasdamper is a simple yet awesome dish
Poor old unloved Fred didn't even get any! Malcolm would have sorted him out.. Those eyes 😍
Malcolm was a aussie legend a true icon
Some good looking damper boys. Malcolm would be proud.
Risk vs reward, I would of gone for the pan flip haha
Does it go well with beer Harry
Malcolm Douglas, a true Aussie legend
Malcolm and his old dog Boondi what a show!
Looks great “Malcolm” 😀
Here’s an easy damper recipe just 2 ingredients: 3 cups of self raising flour and a bottle of Bundaberg Ginger Beer (take a swig as it doesn’t need the full bottle)
Feeling sentimental, like so many Aussies absolutely grew up watching Malcolm...
