- This is Part 3 of the Book Scanner Project.
This video part shows you how to use the book scanner to scan a book, using a mobile phone.
You can use a Bluetooth camera shutter to take pictures remotely, instead of swiping the mobile. Unfortunately my mobile didn't work with the shutter when I made this video today.
In Part 1 you saw how to make a book holder made of a wooden plate, a Plexiglass sheet and glass hinges.

In part 2, we talked about the book flattening method I use in order to keep the book pages flat, so that the camera would make better images to help the OCR software do a better job to recognize the text.

Great idea! I was using my glass casserole to scan small documents, but had no idea how I could flat a heavy book! Thank you very much!
Thank you for your comment.
Hi, you haven't problems with plexiglass reflection? How to remove ? I see your light is dark
Yes I have reflection from the lamp that I used but you can use a different lamp with better overall illumination. The end result of OCRing the images was really good.
I Used this Bluetooth trigar to shoot photo i.e. A4 and legal size paper in 2018
Thank you for your comment. It is a great gadget and beats the selfie stick rod because it works on back cameras as well. Also makes a nice gift to friends and relatives.
Nice idea. Great knowledge
Thanks. A new version is in development these days. Subscribers will be the first to watch it.
Thanks for the video.
Thanks for your comment. I am working now on an improved version just waiting for some parts to arrive. I want the wooden plate and the tripod to be fixed to the table with suction cups instead of adhesive tapes. The hinges will have no friction from the screws acting as standoffs.
