  • Four escaped convicts descend on Mineral City looking for a former partner. Meanwhile, Roy and most able bodied men are hunting the desperadoes elsewhere. Dale is subsequently kidnapped by the baddies to make her show them where their partner now lives.
The show starred Roy Rogers as a ranch owner, Dale Evans as the proprietress of the Eureka Café and Hotel in fictional Mineral City, and Pat Brady as Roy’s sidekick and Dale's cook. Brady's Jeep Nellybelle at times had a mind of her own and sped away driverless with Brady in frantic pursuit on foot. Animal stars were Roy's Palomino horse Trigger and his German Shepherd Bullet, the "Wonder Dog".
As with many other Western films of the 1930s-1950s, the Roy Rogers Show featured cowboys and cowgirls riding horses and carrying six-shooters, but unlike traditional westerns, the series had a contemporary setting with automobiles, telephones, and electric lighting. No attempt was made in the scripts to explain or justify this strange amalgamation of 19th-century characters with 20th-century technology.
The show received an Emmy nomination in 1955 for Best Western or Adventure Series, but it lost out to the syndicated Stories of the Century, an anthology series starring and narrated by Jim Davis. The series finished #27 in the Nielsen ratings for the 1951-1952 season and #30 for 1954-1955.
Directed by Robert G. Walker, Don McDougall, Leslie H. Martinson
Starring Dale Evans, Roy Rogers, Trigger

Besides the Lone Ranger this was one of my favorite television cowboy shows. But unlike the Lone Ranger the storylines often didn't make sense to my young mind. Then when I watched the reruns as an adult I understood why. Because Pat drove around in a jeep while everyone else was on horseback, even the criminals. Duh!

The Lone Ranger's great cowboy outfit was even tighter than Roy's more ornate cowboy britches ; both outfits were tailored by Nudie Cohn !

Unbelievable ! Four escaped prisoners are looking for civilian cowboy outfits, guns & holsters to ditch their prison clothes. The last of the four knocks out Pat Brady to get his denim outfit but no guns. The other three prisoners were also unlucky about stealing menswear but no guns too. Alone comes Roy in his sleek, fancy pants, boots , shirt and dual pistols in his holster & gun belt but 4 outlaws can't overwhelm him to get his great cowboy duds ? Roy gets punched in the face & knocked out ; falls backwards down a slope but none of the four outlaws think Roy's clothes or gun belt is worth going after to steal & wear for themselves ? Me ? I would be wearing Roy 's fancy cowboy outfit all of the time ; just like Roy !

P.S. The escape convicts' M.O. to pistol whip or use a tree branch to knock out cowboys for their clothes & guns but not when a convict got behind Roy before the fist fight that knocked him out and fell down a slope. If this convict just continued to sneak up upon Roy from behind; he would have pistol whipped Roy to get his fancy cowboy outfit & his gun belt & pistols; da; stupid !
