Ahh, the holiday season. We put up our decorations, shop the latest deals, and invite extended family members over for huge feasts. For many of us these traditions also include a lot of classic holiday films. Often topping the list: Home Alone and it’s sequel Home Alone 2: Lost in New York. While watching the antics of little Kevin McCallister year after year, people may wonder about the star -- Macaulay Culkin. In the 90’s, he was arguably one of the biggest child stars and actors in general -- but what happened? We’ll tell you and the next time you sit down to watch Home Alone, you’ll know about the rise and fall of Macaulay Culkin and how the child star went from marquee films to reclusive life of riches without the fame attached to it.
A quick glance at Macaulay Culkin’s IMDB page showcases a lot of movies in very little time. The 1990s was packed with films, television shows, and guest appearances on various programs. Culkin was in his pre-teens and working more than most adults. Then after 1994 suddenly it all ended. Nine years without a big screen credit and our vision of Macaulay Culkin was left with the roles he played as a child star. So happened? How did Macaulay Culkin go from multiple big screen projects in 1994 to disappearing from Hollywood for nearly a decade? Did he follow the path as so many other child stars -- getting older and losing out on roles? Well, not quite -- and like many things in Hollywood, the story of Macaulay Culkin is not so simple.

Ass hole
The guy supported his family for years, gave up his childhood to work, and entertained many. He deserves at the very least respect and privacy.
and b!tches!! he definitely deserve some
Gave up his childhood? What the hell does that mean & how would you know anything about how his childhood really was.
Lets just say harry and marv ain’t ever gonna break in people’s homes anymore
He deserves the best, you have done bad things, he did bad things. We should forgive him. He is a responsible adult now, and plus he had a bad childhood. You just don’t understand because you are immature, and you haven’t been through what he went through. Your not a teenager so you wouldn’t even understand what drugs are! This generation is so messed up. 😒

I watch Home Alone every year, and I will keep doing it for years. They are one of the best movies ever.

Same here I still watch it

I have a Christmas movie lineup that is mandatory every year for me; Home Alone 1 and 2 are first in line.
There is no fall of Macaulay Culkin, he willingly stopped acting and is still getting paid to this day from home alone
Well he did have a drug problem so you could count that as a fall, but he's clean now.
Thanks for the knowledge.
There is also the true story about satanic hellywood that they wanna made him a huge star if he would sacrifice his parents and he would not that is why he stopped back then.
CidGuerreiro1234 AMEN
I don’t
No matter how old he is , I still see him as a kid.
He sure doesn't act like a kid anymore.
He's almost like one of those guys you'd expect to see in a Kevin Smith film.
I'm sure that's one of his greatest annoyances.
Lol.
He still looks like a kid to me
Isn't it kind of creepy how he kept the same child face and it didn't change at all as he grew up
Honestly I'm sure he's more then ok with his life, no paparazzi no nothing. Just a mansion and enough money to never work again
Who wants the fame fame comes with a lot of crap like I say would rather be rich then famous

I don’t blame him for retiring. The Hollywood environment is just Venomous.
TOXIC !!!!
Especially child actors. Child actors always have a fucked up childhood.
Society's environment is more venomous.
@@UnchainedEruption Watch An Open Secret on Vimeo if you haven't already. It's the adults around them that are responsible. The parents should now keep a very close eye on their kids if they decide to have them become a child actor. There are a lot of sexual predators in Hollywood. It's sort of an easy way for them to get in contact with kids. So they need to be monitored by the parents and do all available background checks on the person. Even then I would try to get the kid to audio record himself while in the presence of those types of adults. It would be all the evidence you need. The only problem then is if the person is so rich they can pay people off. If you find yourself in that situation you would need like a backer on your side. So in the end it sounds like more trouble than it's worth to risk it. Those creeps really do ruin the best of things.
Elijah Wood has alluded to it being run by pedophiles, and was forced to take back what he said when they threatened him.
I'm routing for Macaulay to play the Joker. he looks so much like the comic version as an adult.
That would bei pretty awesome
Absolutely, I'd love to see him or Edward Furlong in that role. Both have been at the bottom of the pit and have that experience to draw from, and they'd both provide an eerie contrast to how we're used to see them as child stars.
Yes!!!
I literally came here just to comment that but you beat me to it..
And his role in Dryvers (Episode 1 especially!) can serve as his audition. He smashed that character with a badass performance.
This young man has brought smiles, laughter, fun and happiness to children and adults alike. Although
he felt pressure and unhappy times at. home he can look back saying he accomplished something few children can say they have achieved-eternal stardom .Thank you young man Be VERY PROUD OF YOURSELF!
He is a child who almost gave up on normal life because of his parents' greed.Which is why he started drugging at a young age...trying to escape the stress of life.I love this guy and wish he makes a comeback soon❤

No. It was $967.00 that he spent on room service.
What fall? He's actually living his life on his own terms with a successful business. Just because he grew up doesn't mean he's a failure.
Ummm maybe the fall that got him into prison cause of drugs..?

I actually felt really sorry for him and the life he had with his abusive father. I am glad that he is now in a much better place with stability
Its a 2 edge sword because his dad pushing him probably got him noticed and famous but it was done without love. The same with The Jackson 5. Joe Jackson was a son of a beeoche but was instrumental in making them famous but again without the love.

Dennis Hena yeah weird. I remember growing up and people liking that movie. Maybe it wasnt advertised properly.

Poor kid. Didn’t seem like he had much of a childhood. I’m sure he paid a high price for his money and fame.
@Tacy Boetcher Macaluay denies that so.
@Tacy Boetcher Macaluay himself stated that he was never touched by MJ, ad he no longer has a reason to lie, also, his parents divorced because they had a fight over who should have Macaluay's fortune, so he never had any of it. Everything you said is false.
@Tacy Boetcher Dude, just research, look at a correct source, there is something called the internet ya know, simply search content and find the valid sources, its better if a lot of your sources conform the others though, so you can be sure. Hope that helps
Tacy Boetcher only pedos want to believe that lie!
By that logic, that invalidates Wade Robson himself for accusing MJ. How would we know? But we aren’t gonna use that fallacy, we are gonna use common since and logic. Literally do 10 minutes of your own research, it’s so obvious Michael Jackson was innocent. But if you wanna keep partaking in deplorable behavior, then you deserve no sympathy. Rip you if you are ever falsely accused to sexual assault, sike, because it would just br a taste of karma for you.
My favorite Culkin movie is The Good Son, very underrated performance IMO.
I find it really interesting that he bonded so well with Michael Jackson. Makes sense since they were both robbed of a childhood by horrible parents

I like seeing positive things about Mcally. I grew up watching home alone and hearing all the negativity about him over the years honestly made me sad. Glad to see himself keeping busy now that he has lived his childhood and had his "normal life" fun. He needed that to grow. If his dad had controlled him all his life it would've resulted in an arrested development.
It wasn’t a fall. He’s clearly more happy now than he ever was when he was making those home alone movies.
He did fall because after Home Alone movies he disappeared from cinema, not only that he did drugs and his appearance changed SO much in a way he was unrecognisable !!! Well that's a FALL !!!
@@MrMrjack18 he looks good now in 2018
a fail would be not being able to find work and struggling. Its more a long the lines of up and down really. He had it all, but a bad father, harsh upbringings, lots of money, fame, a roof over his head, but with all that came the life of any teen, drugs, not being cast as much and HE made the choice to walk away. Plus he gets those checks and makes bank and can do whatever he wants.
IN this day in age where nostalgia is the in thing to cash in on, many stars are making a comeback, while embracing what made them stars and doing what they want and some doing very well.
His life wasnt a fail just because of some rough patches, think he's done pretty well for himself.
he remained wealthy and only got busted once for drugs. I'd say hes doing pretty good.
I feel like it would be difficult for him to get unwealthy even if he blows what he has he will be getting royalties for his films forever.
I mean just cause he was still wealthy and only got caught once doesn’t mean he’s good.. he was clearly in a rough mindset and was not a healthy man. It’s great to see him getting back on track tho :)

Fall? WTF? He is actually super chill and well adjusted...
Glad you said that! He definitely had a pressure cooker childhood but he seems to be doing well & appears happy. (not what I'd classify as a real rise & fall compared to many other child stars.)
Yeah, I disagree with the use of "fall" in the title but I think what it refers to are the early years. "Rise and fall and eventual redemption ten years later" doesn't really get those clicks. I'm really glad that he's doing better now. His appearance on Rogan was pretty great.
He looks better now than ever!!! He was just on a late night show talking about his life.
Yea, he didn't pull a Lindsey Lohan or anything close to that. Seems like he lives pretty comfortably, does his own thing, just didn't feel like acting all the time. Wouldn't call it much of a "Fall"
The fall would mean on his acting career. But in real life he left the entertainment industry to live a typical teen life. He lived free spirited as anyone with money would do. He did okay I guess. At least he didn't succumb too much to drug abuse or petty crimes like other actors did.
My dad used to watch 2 of Macaulay's original Home Alone movies. He still does..but now, with me🙂. It becomes our family tradition to watch Home Alone 1&2 every Christmas season.

its hard on these kids who become huge in a few roles for a short time, then they're either typecast, or grow up less cute than the agents expected, and either way work dries up. Live in the "Moment"! Well done..Thank you Mr. Jackson!
I've enjoyed watching Home Alone, and I'm still enjoying it until now December 2020🥳🎉🎊
I think ever actor and person falls. The best of us get back up. I believe he is up again.
He made a conscious choice - he didn't mess up
Ethan Aleman

Eloise A Disney Nerd

You aren't lying
When I was 8 (I'm 12 now) my mom got me into home aloneand I never stopped watching it
Until today I still watch those movies and I loved them., and my children go crazy laughing at them...
I love to watch Home Alone over and over again and again ❤❤❤
i would hardly call his journey a fall... he just grew up
Yeah, he trips abit but never once he fell down from his pedestal. He lived his life to adulthood as a king even without fame.
I saw him on the Joe Rogan podcast.
He’s actually a pretty normal dude.
Is Yorkshire close to Bathe, Eng?
@@MrJH101 He's regularly on Redletter now, reviewing weird shitty movies.
He just did a Home Alone games review with AVGN and played Pagemaster on James and Mike Mondays.
video is 20:19 minutes?
this is a sign he is wishing you a happy new Year 2019!!
Happy

Ayan YT duh ,
Dang that's smart
There is no fall with this person. he worked so hard and seems to be an intelligent humble man.
He's found himself and re-invented himself yet again and again...he's litterally constanly emerging and establishing himself in so many amazing ways...im glad he made it through the rough times and has conquered the demons...he's a smart Man...

Agreed!!!
This guy was what made my childhood fun
Lol y u salty
But you didn't say you didn't find it funny, you said his childhood must have been shitty. Seems pretty negative and uncalled for, like you were trying to bring him down for some reason.
@Rubee lol do I see an adult writing insults to random ppl over youtube. I bet you are doing great. Home Alone 2 is a classic!
@Rubee You have some issues dude. I suggest you try therapy. Lots of sadness and anger inside of you.
This was so well done! Many thanks
Oh, my brothers and I loved the Pagemaster. Looking back, it probably wasn't great, but we all loved books and the idea of literally losing yourself in a tale.
