Ross Tafari uhhhhhhhhhhh...gee....think it could have something to do with manufacturing costs? Personally think it's laughable that skaters today need a specific shoe to skate in.
it's called free market global capitalism. welcome to the real world of economics. it's why Vans has not gone out of business. you can't fight the tide. you can ride out the wave. a pair of vans today are about the same price as they were in the 1990's. go figure.
J But are you old enough to remember the quality of vans?? In the early eighties you'd pull them out of the box and they'd stick to the carpet...true gum rubber soles. And I'd rather pay more for quality and jobs. Makes me laugh when they show the factory and how they carefully don't show you the Chinese employees
true I loved the original cabs, but the modern ultracush is way better. I've got fucked up heels and achilles to prove that the OG shoes fucked my feet up for life. hahaha. BTW to get them made in the US the old way would mean your vans would probably cost $200 a pair by todays money, and Vans would go out of business. The US needs to invest in education and create high skilled jobs in green technologies, not go back to the past, because the past is gone forever.
BTW I don't give a fuck if Chinese people are doing the factory jobs. They'll all be done by robots in a few years anyhow, then what? Here's one of America's finest, Bruce Sterling talking about just that at SXSW this year soundcloud.com/officialsxsw/the-future-history-that-hasnt-happened-yet-sxsw-2017
Alright Vans you know what we need. A John Cardiel Full Documentary! Yes John Cardiel: Epicly Later'd was awesome but a nice super long movie about Cards will be even better.
Epicly Later'd is good but we need the full production, the full investment. Danny Way's was amazing, 'All This Mayhem' was amazing (sad, too). Totally agree, fully backed and funded production of Cardiel, then, now and everything in between. This guy is an absolute crowbar to SLS, Olympics, etc. And I'm not against the contests but that arena pales in comparison to this dude's incentive to do what he does and did. Practice? Fuck practice!
It hurts my soul to hear people talking about Cards' skating in the past tense. Cool that he's still ripping in his own way, but goddamn that man is the very soul of skateboarding incarnate.
John is one of the most amazing, kind, and dedicated skaters I have ever met. Been sitting on some rad footage from way back of him at the Old Star ramp....maybe it's time to bring it out...
Savage for all the right reasons. I first came across Cardiel back in '92 as a snowboarder. I don't even skate but I have to give him maximum respect. What an inspiring human being.
You know what it is, Edwin Matos. Cardiel is bringing all the glory. If you thought this was dope, check out more of Loveletters to Skateboarding here: bit.ly/2ql5c3E
He deserves some kind of best all around skater award for sure! He's been driving and inspiring people from the early 90s! And still rips to this day! His fire burns on and only gets bigger
I Saw Cards at Ripon when he got the cover of i think transworld doing that overhead enormous backside air transfer, Craziest thing ive seen in skateboarding in 30 years ! G.O.A.T
Cardiel is the living proof that everything is damn possible with the right attitude, will, drive, dedication, passion, perseverence and determination to let some excuse stand in the way. Respect him like the soul of skateboarding itself
Hey, Xavier! Thanks for stopping by. Cardiel definitely lives up to the hype! If you haven't already, check out Part 1 of All Hail Cardiel here: bit.ly/2qUuqse
JC rules. Energy Fire Love downright grit. Legend skateboarder and human being. As Jeff - RIP - says - operating on another level. Savage beautiful scary loveable
Thanks for the love, stickshiftar! Cardiel seriously knows how to tear it up on the streets. If you were inspired by this, check out Part 1 of All Hail Cardiel: bit.ly/2rWaJi8
The only thing that sucks about this is that it's not 1000 episodes longer. And you should have interviewed the doctor that told John he'd never walk again. I'd love to see his face now.
You cant blame him too much though,He thought he was talking to a mere mortal human, and wouldn't of know he was speaking to the G.O.A.T(irrefutable,undeniable,scientific fact...fight me) of the literally highest impact "sport" in the world
Best one yet,John embodies skateboarding.i met him @ Jersey bank In SF. Back in 1997 such a humble dude.him and Brian Anderson fucked that ditch barrier up
Cardiel is the GOAT 🐐 Tho, seeing Burnside brings back memories. My dad used to bring me down there when it was first built and I remember meeting most of my friends there.
And as we write about how rad Cardiel is he is out there shredding whatever the fuck he is on. A bike, a turntable, mowing his lawn of flick football. Thanks for the Letters. And thanks for showing that skateboarding has given us the best fucking people in the world. My favorite video part is the Anti Hero video with the fly on the lens. I'm burnt and can't remember the title. Pretty rad to know that Cardiel's mom did numerology on the name and gave it her blessing.
almost everything that everyone is talking about is all on video. Thank god for Julien because between him and probably Morford recorded everything back then
That finished way to quick> fuck it, and shit Jeff' another black eye...looks like you've had it since i asked you about it In New Zealand' Such a rad episode, Thanks heaps' All Hail Cardial!
Why no Cardiel interview in a video about Cardiel? Wait. Was he the one who gave Grosso that black eye? Is there a story we don't know? So many questions...
Cardiel’s episode continues with Part 2 with more and more footage. Which video part was your all-time favorite?

Alright Vans you know what we need. A John Cardiel Full Documentary! Yes John Cardiel: Epicly Later'd was awesome but a nice super long movie about Cards will be even better.
Danny Thomson Hell yes! and talk about his gnarly head injury trying that boardslide as well as his snowboard career.
Danny Thomson still waiting on Barefoot the Lee Ralph story......for the pat 3 years !
Danny Thomson fuck yeah ! ' The real Cardiel '
The epicly later'd doc is almost two hours. And spans his childhood until the late 00s.
Epicly Later'd is good but we need the full production, the full investment. Danny Way's was amazing, 'All This Mayhem' was amazing (sad, too). considering how old some of the clips are now he is still one of the top 10 best skateboarders ever
As a fixie adult this dude is an inspiration
@@djsubliminalreeve him version the last ten years is Jordan vs leBron
Peter Hewitt ..."the ability to push others beyond what they could do!" (7:49) Dead On, what Skateboarding with friends is about.

Thank you John Cardiel!

Paddy O'Lantern I heard Vans has it🤔
Prob already commented but this is def top 3 love letters. All hail.
I like it when you can tell a skater is happy they landed a trick. Beres does that, too.
JC rules. Energy Fire Love downright grit. Legend skateboarder and human being. As Jeff - RIP - says - operating on another level. Savage beautiful scary loveable
Full on Gnarly and Inspiring.

18 FOR LIFE
Anybody know what the indoor park is at 8:24? Kinda looks like the old Chenga in Cleveland, OH.
I thought it looked like the street course at Milpitas, but I only skated that place a couple times, a long time ago.
Yeah, it is the old Chenga! Also Chenga at 7:56 #BikerSlalom
Naa bro , I think that's Fairport Harbor
***** Good call, my bad broseph! 😉
Damn I remember Robbie Russo when he was a little skinny kid
BA honestly sounded like an old grizzled cowboy
Why no Cardiel interview in a video about Cardiel? Wait. Was he the one who gave Grosso that black eye? Is there a story we don't know? So many questions...
Se trata de ser auténtico no de tener el nombre más grande ❤
