Thanks Jamie, great finding!! I *absolutely* love the fact the plugin is not adding new blocks but only functionality to the native ones. Zero lock-in, full value. I hope it becomes a trend 👌
I spent 30mins trying to find info on how to add links to my cover blocks etc, finally came across this! Thanks a lot for this video I really appreciate it.
Jamie, thank you for answering my question on another video and leading me in the right direction. Your interaction with your community and your passion and positivity are what make your content the best out there for WordPress/Gutenberg.
Great review. Twentig has been around for a few years now, since 2020 theme, for which was originally built (fixed header, animations, shadows, local fonts,...). It's one of those gems that most people ignore because doesn't add a bloatload of blocks, rather improves core gutenberg and core themes. A bit like Nick Diego's Block Visibility plugin or the block plugins from Gutena (forms,...) and other underrated plugins that actually go a long way and enhance WP rather than adding a layer of bloat and complexity that, in many cases, just steer away from the block building concept itself (playing with legos, grouping and reusing)
This is really nice. You are proving the big guys wrong again. Also, i really like the approach of adding functionalities to Gutenberg core blocks instead of creating new ones.
Thanks Jamie for the great find! Question, is there a block plugin that allows for the mobile layout to be customized? For instance, on the Ollie theme desktop view for blog posts, you can have a grid and adjust the number of columns, but on mobile, you only get one column. I'd like the ability to have at least a 2-column grid so the end user could see more posts to choose from at once.
This is really nice, it work only with mouse event. It doesn't work with keyboard focus. It seems the the plug-in doesn't harm the accessibility but keyboard-only users do not get the same experience.
Hey Jamie, 1st of, Great video. Loved it. 2nd :- I'm getting the option to buy a creator plan to install this plugin, and it's cost is $350, any other way i can install the plugin without having to get this creator plan.
Thanks, Jamie. I doubt if many of us would ever know about this helpful plugin. I need to see if someone has a feature for listing plugins like new plugins this week, this month, etc.
That's great. The only thing remaining for my experimental FSE site is applying dynamic links to the cover block. I use a paid plugin, but it doesn't seem to work with the cover block for some reason. Also, I used ACF for a custom post type and found out the source block doesn't work there; you know, the one for academic citation.
Hello from New York City! Can you make a video to recreate the old Windows Phone User interface using this block editor plugin in WordPress? Thank you for your informative video.
Thanks! Can you put video links from vimeo or youtube in the grid, in place of images? Also for responsiveness you showed it maintaining 50/50 on mobile. Will it let you maintain 4 columns, at 25ish % each on mobile?
Hi Chad, currently the Cover doesn't support external video. Regarding responsiveness , these are the options www.pootlepress.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/01/Screenshot-2024-01-30-at-16.42.37.png
@@jamiewp Thanks! Sounds like it won't do what I want, but if you find something that does within the block editor I would love to hear about it. I'll maybe try "essential grid" again.
Any feature for dynamic data, like dynamic text/headline/custom field ? Or can you recommend any free plugin for dynamic data that work with Gutenberg?
This Free WordPress Plugin is great for displaying Custom Field data with Gutenberg wordpress.org/plugins/display-a-meta-field-as-block/ . As a side note WordPress 6.5 (coming in March 2024) should have dynamic data support of some kind.
Just when I got around to doing all this with CSS, someone brings out a plugin. LOL! It took me ages to work all this out, targeting specific properties. Oh, well.
I'm trying to avoid extra plugin bloat, but I was hoping this might solve a TT4 bug with the gallery block (that I am seeing) in that the columns setting does not work. With the default TT4 all I get is a max of 2 columns, after adding this plugin all I can get is a SINGLE column, so it's actually worse. If I live preview the TT3 theme, then the gallery plugin works as expected with multiple columns... same site, same images. Is anyone else seeing this bug where the TT4 gallery block only shows up to two columns?
Hi Mark, my guess is something else is causing that - in all my tests (and I've done a lot) I've never seen that bug - see here www.pootlepress.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/01/Screenshot-2024-01-31-at-05.45.24.png
@@jamiewp I set up a new pristine TT4 and sure enough the gallery can have more than 2 columns, great. BUT, now when I test on mobile it only reduces to two columns, not to a single column as I would expect. Same with TT3 on another site.

Perfect again! The discovery of your channel has been the best thing for me as an amateur wordpress "designer" (in lack of a better word). Keep it up!
Thanks Mattis , thats lovely to hear

Great summary 👍
It's great to find a plugin that makes a whole card clickable. Excellent, thank you!
Yup so useful 👍
This is exactly the kind of thing I’ve e been waiting for someone to make! This is brilliant 🎉

This is fantastic - I've implemented the clickable cover block on a site I created - love it.

Good catch! We'll fix it in the next release (in the coming days). Thank you for your feedback. - Yann
Nevermind, figured it out.
THANK YOU JAMIE!

So cool! Having coffee and JamieWP ! It’s a great day!

Just been using this on my site, to make nice fade ins and the Cover block clickable. It's great!
Cool - you able to share a link ?
Tranaitioning child block themes would make a good video btw...trying to transition from 2023 to 2024....
My god, that is what I need! Thank you Jamie!
Its cool isn’t it 👍
I've used this in the past for a project. Great plugin
Did you hit any snags Jon ?
It was before I discovered your channel@@jamiewp - I just needed Google Fonts and this did that :)

Yup 100% @@marionyeosaki
what is the name of the plugin?
Wow, this is great. Thank you for highlighting it! (see what I did there ...?)
🤣
Is there a focus state for accessibility?
Yes, the focus is on the block which contains the link (heading, paragraph, button...). The focus style is handled by the theme. - Yann
