This game randomly popped into my head after all these years. My cousins and I would play this for hours upon hours... Just hearing the menu music almost brought a tear to my eye. It's a shame we have to grow old.

@@cm9241 Bro, walk into a gamestop lately in last 10 years? 80% of the game covers look the exact same.. mostly darker browns, and grey. Video games fell off after PS2/regular Xbox. After that it was all guitar hero, call of duty and a thousand other call of duty clones.

This is actually a hidden gem amongst a time when there was NBA street and NFL street. Loved this and how it played.

@@neelabhchoudhary2063 nah companies these days will only invest big money into games they know will sell for sure, OR they sell the same game every year with minimal changes like NBA 2k. the only real innovators are indie developers

Now that’s it’s a lot easier to make games, I would say there’s even more creativity from indie developers

This was the very first game I've worked on since I started in this business back in 2002, straight after graduating from The Illinois Institute of Art (Chicago) and then getting hired at Midway Games, as a Junior Animator. Everything was a great experience, from seeing MC Supernatural live, being able to work with some of the hottest Street Ballers at the time such as Hot Sauce, Trikz, and 50, 1/2 man 1/2 amazing, and Professor just to name a few, and then to have Stephon Marbery on that sick cover! (which still holds up today, that was a sweet cover!) Not to mention being the "defender" (2nd actor on defense) in the Motion Capture Studio! 11:32 So, not only was I editing these animations for the game but, that's me you see defending the ball, and then getting my ankles broken, hehe! As well as, getting "knocked" down, from in the air, for when a PG would try dunking on SHAQ, it just wasn't going to happen, hehe! So, they built a platform, I climbed up it, they counted 3, 2, 1, ACTION! and I would fall backwards, flailing my arms, hitting the mat. Then said, can we get a few more! haha! Yep, that's what we animators do, "Act It Out!" hehe (sorry couldn't find it in the video)
Great times and yep, MC Supernatural was most certainly underrated!!! (Harry Mack is our MC Supernatural of today, hehe!)

@@xierraleone1905 Yep! After my 8 year stint at Midway Games, I came over to Cali and have been working on NBA 2K! (started since NBA 2K10, became Lead Animator since 2K11, and still going strong on 2K22!)
Hey man. When you work for a video game company(these days), I'm curious, do they make you sign waivers or require you to not be able to say anything negative about their game company? Like where workers aren't allowed to speak out against their company? I've been wanting to know more about how these video game companies work, and how the workers are always so hush hush, even when they're not working for the company anymore, they're always silent. What waivers is there?

The sequence from 19:13 to 19:25 is a perfect of example of how ahead of it’s time this game was. This game is almost 20 years old. That’s insane to me.

The menus, music, and character models are what I remember being really fn good! The presentation of this game is hella badass, and unforgettable.
The good old days. I remember i used a cheat code to unlock all the players 😂😂😂. I miss my Childhood sometimes.

I wish we could get more sports games like Ballers, NFL/NBA Street and Mutant League Football. I'm not much of a sports guy, so the latest 2K I played was MAYBE 2K5. But I've still got my copy of Ballers and NFL Street 2 and still play them to this day!

I just ordered this and phenom for ps2. The music on here has me like holy shit and the game in general is my childhood. I remember meeting kids in Chicago at a hotel that had this game. Our parents were friends and that moment was the first time it came out and I played it. The fact I was in Chicago and played this shit makes me even more proud to have this in my childhood 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥

This is like NBA Jam and NBA Street had a baby. Love this game. Never unlocked any of the players, but my friends and I usually play this on game nights. Munching on snacks and stuff. Good times.
