  • His big bat has made the St. Louis Cardinals' slugger one of the top 10 players in baseball history. But to people with Down syndrome and the poor of his native Dominican Republic that he helps, he means a lot more than home runs and RBI. Bob Simon reports.

Even as a St. Louisan and Cardinals fan, I couldn't stay angry at him for long. I'm gonna miss him...even as good as he is, his departure isn't nearly enough to stop the Cardinals from being a contending team...they won the World Series mostly without him. However, Cardinals baseball will not be the same without one of the best players of all time. I'm fighting back tears as I watch this video. This is the hardest pill I've had to swallow as a sports fan.

Lol don't get me started on Lebron. But Albert wanted to stay in St. Louis for his entire career. They only offered him a 5 year deal though, when he still had another 10 good years in him. He went with the Angels because they offered him 10 years and showed how bad they wanted him. Also Los Angeles is a better place for his charity to grow and gain support and donations it needs to help as many people as possible.

This 60 minutes story just touches the surface of what Albert, Deidre, and the Pujols Family Foundation has done and continues to do. With the stain of PED use in baseball this man STILL represents all that is good, on and off the field, about the sport and its players.
