So I feel really dumb... I've been using this exactly like you do for months... but I always put in on my CASTING SIDE like a complete fool! It never occurred to me to put it on the other side to avoid catching my line or fly on the empty rod holder or on my second rod if present! Thanks for the moment of enlightenment, and great tip video :)

Does this require a two-pole endorsement (WA)? I'm fairly naive on the two-pole endorsement. Maybe since you're only using one at a time, it isn't required?

Hello - that is correct. The two-pole endorsement is if you were fishing both poles at the same time. Having another stagnant fly rod with you wouldn't get you into any trouble. Just tell the officer that I said so... :D
