I mean, they sound VERY different with the Forte vs the AGD. Personal tastes will vary but if you like hyper detail with less bass down below that's what the Forte will do here. There is a very high pride of ownership with the AGD products. From the artistic beauty, to the custom tech made just for them to the way they are shipped and packed. The power cords and of course, the sound..all make for an experience that is rare unless you step up to the $50k and up range.
I wonder how it would compare with the Jeff Roland Model 125, also a work of art in its own right at a fraction of the cost. Would the differences be that great?
These use modules, made by Alberto, for audio only. I'm sure the 125 will sound lovely but it's not a monoblock amp, stereo. It's also not GaN based from what I understand (I could be wrong). Alberta makes his Tempo stereo amp which would be more comparable to the Rowland though the Tempo uses Albertos design and GaN module. I love that more coma its are making amps like this and see many more doing it over the next few years. We will see way less Class A being made IMO (Luxman already stopped according to rumors). Thanks!
@@HiFiHuff Thanks for answering. Enjoy the videos even if I will never own most of the stuff...and that's alright. Still, like keeping up on new product offerings and what's out there.
Yes sir. Daniel Hertz Maria will cost you much more and it's an integrated. The Mola Mola amp is also Class D and about the same. These are high end pieces, not for everyone. Either have to be rich, or crazy like me (I am not even well off, lower middle class income here) ; )
haven't you ever listened to a pair of large 3 way active ATC SCM ASL dynamic studio monitors . They are in the best recording studios the world over . They are a true reference for world class sound .
Ha! Took more than 6 minutes to mention Class D. Such a challenge for luxury retailers to hang on to all the nonsense at the same time as making use of superior and very affordable tech. Where did I put my gloves?
I would love to hear what you have to say about the Audion MkIII vs Pass Labs XA60.8. About as polar opposite as you can be from a design standpoint. Full on Class A vs switching Class D.
hi . thank you for this great review. would love to hear your thoughts about these AGDs paired with QUALIO-IQ . as Greg from Qualio recommends Class D Amp with those speakers. thanks again
Glad to see you so happy about your new 'toys'. I can only imagine the joy of your listening sessions. A speaker I am really curious about- and would love to see you review- is the Qualio IQ Ultra. Not seen any reviews. 6 Moons LOVED the original version.
The Quail IQ Ultra is on its way to me now from Poland. Posted about it a few days ago on the community page. I look forward to hearing them. Review will be a few weeks away but they are on the way now!
You should also review the new Mola Mola Perca amp (Class D, 150W/300W, $9850) and compare it to the Duets. Have them duke it out and see who takes home the belt for the Flyweight World Champion!!
Well, if Mola Mola wants to send me one, sure. But they do not seem to want to do that. So no way I am buying one to see. I'm sure it's a killer amp as they make great stuff.
LAYERING IN THE MUSIC ..........that's like creating space , different from what some auidiophiles hype like pin pointbimaging . This is onby happening with very high quality ( I did not say necessary expensive ), this is lacking in most hifi and even in many high end audio components. Once you heard it or you didn't recognize the real qualities hiding in recordings you thought you knew for years or decades............you will never forget it and take this quality into account listening to every new component ......when it fails whatever price or review , you will reject it .
I agree with what you say. It's rare to experience this but I have heard it in a few setups that have been here. The Duets do this with the X2's, Pearl Sibelius and the Triangles. Using the AGD pre as well though. Also, once you have experienced this it is indeed tough to go back!
Thanks for delving deep on these and sharing your wealth of experience and knowledge. Also great to hear your passion come through. ENJOY all the wonderful emotions brought forth by tuning into beautiful music via your new gear.
To my eyes they look gorgeous and so much nicer than big black boxes. Design and sound though are very personal. Some prefer big black boxes, others like big silver boxes. I like art. : )
What a coincidence. One of the best amp I ever heard It’s the Symphonic Line, and It looks like a toaster too! Who cares. Si much for the “ audiophile “ title and they just criticize the look
Yes. To me, these are much preffered to the Hertz for the reason I describe in this video and the written. The Hertz is an integrated amp and uses tuning to sound good and mate with speakers. Like an internal EQ really. These are power amps and sound better to me, are made better, look better and are priced right. The Hertz products shot up in price after my reviews, which I wasn't a fan of.
The AGD amps, unlike many Class D amps use custom made modules. These were created by Alberto and his team just for audio. Many class D amps use chips from power supplies. They do not sound nearly as good. The Duets also use this tech with the power supply, which really improves them vs even the Audion. These have a quality on a different level from the Rose amps, they just do, With that said, they may sound different with various preamps. The Pass XP10 I tested them with did very well though. Lovely. The Alto II is a perfect mate, so I chose it for the amps. Thank you.
NO honeymoon here. They kicked my class A monos to the curb (which were my fave amps for the last few years), kicked my class A/B amp to the curb and with the matching preamp deliver a sound that is next level from any pre/power I have had here. Again, read up on those who own them, long term. Many owner reports to be had. I'd never ever go back to 100lb. monos that are noisy and put out heat. No reason to but many reasons not to. Thank you.
Yet half the cost of some other amps that are inferior. I wouldn’t trade these for any power amp today. These surpass my last favorites (that stayed my faves for four years) by a pretty large margin. If within one’s budget, well worth it if looking for an amp (vs an integrated).
Why is it genius to let a transistor device look like a tube? It is rediculous in my opinion - never try to make things look like something completely different than it is. Especially not at this price point. I am sure they sound great - but please keep the advertising under control.
I agree. I approve of honest engineering and honest design. Don't pretend, be. It's very gimmicky. But... Sometimes you need a gimmick to attract people to your paradigm changing design.
Not ridiculous at all, genius design for the many reasons why I stated in the review. A new module (in the tube) gets you an all new amp instead of having to buy a new amp. Swap the module and that's it. Genius. The Duets are also upgradable but have to be opened up to do so. I love his designs, tube and all. Love it.
Nice. I really believe these amps and the Jeff Rowland and maybe the Maria amps are the most analog, least artificial and soulful in this Class and have grip on most and even troublesome speakers thus not easily becoming thin sounding. But it is not analog Class A or Tube Class A so especially if playing analog vinyl or even 'mastermix' tapes I absolutely would choose Class A above all as it is the least artificial gear and as analog and soulful as can be and now with the TS A20 poweramp there is still some grip on most speakers 🍾🍾
These kicked my class A monos to the curb, easily. They cost much more. These also best the Hertz Maria, which is an integrated, as the Maria will only sound great with matching speakers that the amp was tuned for. These sound glorious with all speakers I have tried and much better than any amp I have heard in the past. Ive been listening to class A/B and Class A all day today yet they lose a lot vs the Duets. Wanted to put them back in so bad but couldn't as I have to evaluate a few amps I have here now. Thank you,
Yes, and bests every amp I have head regardless of cost, size or class. These are not like most Class D amps made today. They use custom modules designed and created for audio by Alberto. These are not "class D" chips one just puts in like in the many Class D amps out there. These are world class, and well worth the cost seeing that they are small, light, have no heat and best any amp I have heard, even those that cost 2 1/2X the money. This is not like any Class D you have heard and IMO is indeed what the future of audio amps should be. Kicked my class A monos to the curb as well as my class A/B. They are remarkable.
. Well, yes that's true. Power amplifiers can't "do" imaging or soundstage with a mono recording. The goal, of course, is to not distort the recording during amplification.
Sure they do, they amplify the signal to bring that signal to the speakers which in turn make music. Cant have music without some type of amplifier to amplify it. All amps sound different, period, I never heard two amps that sound the same, ever. Thanks.
Not when handling these as they will grab any fingerprint of scuff. They come with the gloves for a reason and since I was filming, why would I want them full of prints? Exactly.
@@danmarjenka6361 No, it's because of the obvious reason, they are polished and collect fingerings like mad. Was filming them, didn't want them all smudged up. Why would I? So no, wasn't much at all. : )

It great to see AGD making a name for themself, and making Class D an Audio product worth buying at long last.
If I do make a play, I am interested in the Closer Ogy and wonder what SS amp might bring it to what its capable of. Eyeing the Van Alstine CA-1 as a possible amp, even a few others but what I have now is pretty sweet for a budget integrated in a Keces E40.
Still, like keeping up on new product offerings and what's out there.
$11,500 😯
Compare them to Fosi V3, Topping B100 and Topping B200.
Well at that price they better do
100%
I’d rather go for the Jeff Roland’s DAEMON integrated.
Who. was the artist playing great blues?

Glad to see you so happy about your new 'toys'. I can only imagine the joy of your listening sessions. A speaker I am really curious about- and would love to see you review- is the Qualio IQ Ultra. Not seen any reviews. 6 Moons LOVED the original version.
The Quail IQ Ultra is on its way to me now from Poland. Posted about it a few days ago on the community page. I look forward to hearing them. Review will be a few weeks away but they are on the way now!
Thanks
Thank you!
really hope you are planning on reviewing the preamp
As stated in the video and written review of the Duets, I do.
@@HiFiHuff my bad
You should also review the new Mola Mola Perca amp (Class D, 150W/300W, $9850) and compare it to the Duets. Have them duke it out and see who takes home the belt for the Flyweight World Champion!!
@@tictocdoc6958 Actually, the upcoming Ossetra monoblocks are $10,900 each, so a pair of them will cost 2x as much as a pair of Duets.
Well, if Mola Mola wants to send me one, sure. But they do not seem to want to do that. So no way I am buying one to see. I'm sure it's a killer amp as they make great stuff.
Great review
Thanks
Gorgeous!
Well, saying Galium Nitride says it all exceedingly expensive.
Thanks for delving deep on these and sharing your wealth of experience and knowledge. Also great to hear your passion come through. ENJOY all the wonderful emotions brought forth by tuning into beautiful music via your new gear.
Thank you for watching.
do I REALLY need TWO kidneys?
Yes.
You should get the 2 of the Aegir 2 on the X2's , that is some magic!
I’ve had them. The duets are next level from Aegir 2. Really.
the future sure isn't cheaper
Unfortunately,they look like old toasters
Yeah...from the 1950's!!!😂
The old iconic toaster look.
To my eyes they look gorgeous and so much nicer than big black boxes. Design and sound though are very personal. Some prefer big black boxes, others like big silver boxes. I like art. : )
Yeah, but really *nice* toasters!
@@HiFiHuff Art Deco amp that makes toast now that would be something
What a coincidence. One of the best amp I ever heard It’s the Symphonic Line, and It looks like a toaster too! Who cares. Si much for the “ audiophile “ title and they just criticize the look
Lol, awesome!
Tubes you say, huh? Wow what a game changer idea, tubes! We can upgrade the sound by changing a tube, my mind is blown, tubes? 🤭
Do you think the AGD sounds more ‘analogue’ even though the D. Hertz is using C-wave?
Comparing the Ganfet technology in the Hifi Rose, what are AGD doing differently that makes all the difference?
The AGD amps, unlike many Class D amps use custom made modules. These were created by Alberto and his team just for audio. Many class D amps use chips from power supplies. They do not sound nearly as good. The Duets also use this tech with the power supply, which really improves them vs even the Audion. These have a quality on a different level from the Rose amps, they just do, With that said, they may sound different with various preamps. The Pass XP10 I tested them with did very well though. Lovely. The Alto II is a perfect mate, so I chose it for the amps. Thank you.
Careful when being overwhelmed during the honeymoon phase...
Thank you.

I've never heard real super high end systems... I wonder how they compare to something like my JBL SA600?...
Only $11,500 😳
Yet half the cost of some other amps that are inferior. I wouldn’t trade these for any power amp today. These surpass my last favorites (that stayed my faves for four years) by a pretty large margin. If within one’s budget, well worth it if looking for an amp (vs an integrated).
Even the XA60.8?
Why is it genius to let a transistor device look like a tube? It is rediculous in my opinion - never try to make things look like something completely different than it is. Especially not at this price point. I am sure they sound great - but please keep the advertising under control.
If the circuit goes belly up you just order the "pseudo- tube" and voila. No expensive shipping charges, no waiting for repair. Clever!
I agree. I approve of honest engineering and honest design. Don't pretend, be. It's very gimmicky. But... Sometimes you need a gimmick to attract people to your paradigm changing design.
@@hiphile1Could easily be placed on a separate board inside.
Love it.
agd duet will be my next and hopefully last power amp.😊
Thank you,
class D
And? It's not 1990 anymore.
@@slip6699 we agree, quite woke now isn't it
Yes, and bests every amp I have head regardless of cost, size or class.
Amplifiers dont make music
. Well, yes that's true. Power amplifiers can't "do" imaging or soundstage with a mono recording. The goal, of course, is to not distort the recording during amplification.
@@TriAmpMyFi That is a different matter all together.
Musicians "make" and create music.
HiFi has absolutely nothing to do with music.
Except audio note, that the only hifi that makes music !!!
@@PetraKann .
Hifi is the playback of musicians' making and creating music via recordings.
Sure they do, they amplify the signal to bring that signal to the speakers which in turn make music. Cant have music without some type of amplifier to amplify it. All amps sound different, period, I never heard two amps that sound the same, ever. Thanks.
Fosi mono on steroids
Using gloves for an unboxing is a bit much!
Maybe because they cost $12,000.
@@HiFiHuff I completely understand where you are coming from. I have handled lesser equipment with gloves because I just like my gear to be flawless.
@@HiFiHuff Depends on how dirty your hands are
