Surely the spindle does not vibrate and turning faster results in a faster and cleaner cut. The motor weighs more and therefore the speed of the movements must be lowered. However, excellent engine!

Hi, there. If you have a little manual skill is not difficult. The electrical connections are very simple. The motor is not connected to the motherboard of the cnc and starts and adjusts manually. You can put a relay on the output that powers the old motor on the motherboard that closes the contact and starts the motor. However, the speed adjustment remains manual via potentiometer.
@@cosmochannelvideo Hi sorry i must have missed a few steps ! the connections are simple IF you have done it before ? What is the relay you mention sorry but it does not make sense ? All i see in the video is the power supply (I presume) taken from the old motor fixed to the new motor and then two wires (I again presume taken from the glb board (woodpecker board) this is put into the new power control unit into the motor terminals (with pot fixed to) BUT where does the power come from to power the new box ? ie connections to box go (on /off - motor - power) so where does this relay fit you mention ?
@@cosmochannelvideo as clear as mud ? what is the relay you talk about ? two wires from original motor goes to new motor, two more wires from the old gbl (woodpecker board) fixed to the motor on the NEW box so that leaves two connectors still not used on the NEW box for power ? what is the relay for and where does it come in on the video ? need to spend less time with the music and more time on the explanation of what you are actually doing.

Hammering bearings in? No wonder the axis locked up. If you dont have a press, you chould have pulled them in with a length of stud (threaded bar) These cheap machines can be so much better if assembled carefully - 3D printers are a perfect example

Get rid of the music, it's unnecessary and I would have the spindle mount CNC,d out of aluminium along with it's mount, it won't cost much as the files are free to download, more info on wiring should have been clearer as there is 220v at the start of the supply, people tend to forget this , while the board is low voltage the power supply will kill you.....
A minor upgrade. If you are going to this amount of effort then it would have been better to have addressed the issues of having the spindle mounted so far away from its supports - this gives unacceptable flex in stock configuration. Im about to add this type of spindle to mine and hopefully will address these issues...
@@cosmochannelvideo Thanks. Second question is regards to the actual power input. What are you using? just plugging into wall or using a power supply? I have to basically turn it on before the program runs for cutting? Thanks
The spindle is powered only by its power supply connected to the power outlet. Before starting the machining you have to manually turn on the spindle. You could put a 24V relay on the spindle connector output on the controller which will power the spindle.

Surely the spindle does not vibrate and turning faster results in a faster and cleaner cut. The motor weighs more and therefore the speed of the movements must be lowered. However, excellent engine!
bye, congratulations! beautiful update and a great video, I have just bought the same cnc, I'm just starting out, but I'd like to replace the motor like you did, but I'm afraid of not being able to make electrical connections, it would be possible to know how they do, thanks, congratulations again 😁
@@cosmochannelvideo thank you so much
@@cosmochannelvideo Hi sorry i must have missed a few steps ! the connections are simple IF you have done it before ?
What software did you use to run the machine
grblControl_0.8.1 was included in the package.
@@cosmochannelvideo okay, Thank you sir
@@mr.linskie8829 thanks to you.
HI. Nice clean build. Just finshed my cnc. Have a Look on my machine during engraving.
thanks a lot .. i will!
WAOUW the quality of your video is excellent , can you tell me what model camera you use ? thank you
Thank you so much. I use a one plus 5t smartphone
printing that shit now, thanx bro
can tell how is it, is it enough strong, to hold stronger motors
@@bblloobb1000 yes it is... I modified it on my thingiverse tho.. I like to buy bolts by the pound so I did away with that metric crap. www.thingiverse.com/thing:3876546 Works great in holding the spindle but the machine could use some beef with the upgraded spindle!
Great video, but the music could go
Good video, well done but you didn't give us a "worth it / not" rating. Also there seemed be a lot of play in the mount for the Z axis.
Hi! For me it's worth it if you want to make faster cuts. For stability watch the next video where I solve the problem. I feel very comfortable.
Have you upgrade the grbl software
I haven't updated anything yet, but I plan on doing so soon.
upgrade to this spindle can i cut carbon fiber sheet with this???? thanks...
with the right cutter of course!
Nice video, very educational. I have just recently purchased my own and i have negative milling results, i try to reverse without success. I match appreciate your advise.
Nice video, very educational?? there are no spoken words!!!
@@vicomedia1 I do not trace any of your videos.....
There was little to say but a lot to show for it... I don't like to waste words 😂😘
That spindle-motor driver is crap. When it dies you should open it up and see what they did to it in china. Mine had all sorts of trace ground off and rerouted with hokey wiring, and giant globs of solder. Frankenstein boards.
I got sick of the noise, so I replaced that with the brushless 500W.. Soooo much better! Watch out for EMF too! It can cause real issues with losing step.
yup I FELT that EMF..... literally shaking my stepper motors and now I need to buy a new spindle set
make a video of it milling aluminum not just engraving
Also he is using a wood engraver on aluminium, you can see the tip got frayed at the end.. Using a tiny ball end mill would yield better engraving quality if it's only for text.. and that's pretty cheap - you can get them on ebay for under 5 bucks with free shipping..
Hammering bearings in? No wonder the axis locked up. If you dont have a press, you chould have pulled them in with a length of stud (threaded bar)
These cheap machines can be so much better if assembled carefully - 3D printers are a perfect example
You're right. I admit I made a mistake using a hammer to insert them. In the video I posted a while ago where I change these bearings I used a vice to push them in. Thanks anyway for the message!
Mettine poco ..
How much would you charge to make me one of those mounts on your 3D printer?
Hi. Is there any one or any place I can get this bracket printed as I have not got 3D printer? Help PLEASE!
Hi, there. Look for some group on facebook printing 3d and look for someone who lives near you who can print it for you. Or some online 3d printing service.
@@cosmochannelvideo Thank you.
@@cosmochannelvideo
certo io ho mandato disegno che hai postato tu ,e a te andava bene giusto????
A me è andato perfettamente fin da subito..
E possibile comprarlo da te grazie
Purtroppo no!
I am confused about where the wires at @10:27 come from
Hello. those cables come from the spindle and connect it to the power supply
@@cosmochannelvideo Thanks. Second question is regards to the actual power input. What are you using? just plugging into wall or using a power supply? I am about to set it up direct to wall and taking extra safety measures by 3dprinting a custom case (So the power supply is not accessible at all).
So this is not connected to the CNC PCB right? I have to basically turn it on before the program runs for cutting? Thanks
The spindle is powered only by its power supply connected to the power outlet. Before starting the machining you have to manually turn on the spindle. You could put a 24V relay on the spindle connector output on the controller which will power the spindle.
@@cosmochannelvideo Thanks
Can you add some more aluminum tests?
I'm gonna make a video soon. For now I have problems with the z-axis (it's not fluid and freezes) and so I'm waiting for spare parts.
@@cosmochannelvideo Have you managed to solve the z axis wobble? I want to buy the same CNC and upgrade it with the same motor actually, but z axis wobbling would be pretty bad, since it means I wouldn't be able to do precise detail work. What part of the z axis is causing the wobble? Is it the 3d printed plastic motor holder? if so, then that is good, since you can just print a better one, but if the wobble is coming from the metal parts, like large tolerances in the aluminum rails or something like that, then that would be very very hard to fix without basically replacing half of the entire machine
@@cosmochannelvideo update please!!
Hi. your engine is also very hot?
The only reason I would upgrade the spindle is if I wanted more confidence for the machine to mill aluminum.
Yes, but the engraving did not turn out very well.
Bye. I just made some changes that solve the movements that made the spindle to the too much weight. Soon I'll put the video. Now the engraving is much more accurate. I am waiting for an aluminum cutter to do a test of engraving on aluminum.
You have no anti-backlash nuts...
Hello
How can I get / order spindle mount to upgrade?
you can buy it on the site banggood or amazon by following the links below the video
@@cosmochannelvideo I need only Clamps for my cnc3018
Hi great video. I have problem.
Identical equipment CNC3018, the Y axis (that of the plane on which supports the objects to be processed), during the work you hear a tac and shoot losing the path with the x axis.
I changed the complete bar of bronze spiral, but I haven't solved it. Do you have a suggestion? Thank you very much! - Do you also have a chance to explain how you carry out the project with the writing?

You're right. The frame suffers with this additional weight. Account to change the frame. For now, I'm just milling at a reduced speed.
Nice video for upgrading...might want to skip the inane background music next time, less is more. :)
Too much movement in z axis :-(
Yes, you're right. I'm thinking about restoring the original engine.
@@cosmochannelvideo did you do this?
Will it mill soft metals like aluminium? (with like a small end mill, not engraver)

There could be a thousand things. Overheating of some defective component? defective cable? energy saving activated on the pc? If you find the problem please let me know!
Z-prob esetén használj galvanikus leválasztást például opto-csatolót, külömben kiég a cnc vezérlő!
@@cosmochannelvideo Had the same problem with the 3018pro (factory stock), where each time I run the spindle, do a basic G1 movement or anything of such. Suddenly, program loses connection with the mill, saying "device is not responding", turns out the USB-A to Mini supplied was garbage. Found a spare usb cable, hasn't given me any problems like that for now.
Hi, can the cnc cut aluminum of thickness 3-4mm?
Hello CyClistFpV. I'm sure that with a good 2 cutting edges cutter and several passes you can safely cut soft metals up to 5mm thick. If you haven't done so yet, sign up for my channel!
Cosmo Channel It will be interesting to see that.
These 3d printed parts with a 500w spindle doesnt seem like a good idea
It may seem like a bad idea but I have been using it for months and everything works perfectly (within the limits of the machine)
