  • The southern region of Jeju is famous for its magnificent nature, unique culture, and historically important sites, so many tourists visit to enjoy Jeju.
    🚣🏻‍♀️Seosokkak Estuary
The estuary is located at the southern end of Hyodoncheon, a creek with water flowing from Hallasan, and it's where the fresh water and the seawater converge. Seoso means a pond in the shape of a cow lying down, and kkak means the end. Seosokkak features a cliff surrounded by unique rock formations like a folding screen. Above them, a forest creates a magical atmosphere in the gorge. In the past, it was a sacred land where rituals for rain were held, so people weren't allowed to play or throw rocks in the water. The entrance to the gorge was sometimes blocked to create salt, and it was also utilized as a harbor.
    💦Cheonjiyeon Pokpo Falls
Compared to other regions, Seogwipo has many underground springs, and its impermeable and hydrophilic andesite formations in the subsoil contribute to a relatively high number of waterfalls. Among the waterfalls in Seogwipo, Cheonjiyeon Pokpo Falls stands out in terms of scale and scenery, capturing the attention of tourists. Cheonjiyeon means a pond that was created where heaven and earth meet. The length of the falls is 22 meters, and the depth of the pond is 20 meters.
    ⛰️Daepo Jusangjeolli Cliff
Jusangjeolli refers to basalt columns with vertical joints that look delicately curved into rectangular, hexagonal, or pentagonal shapes. These columns were formed because of contraction caused by the rapid cooling of thick lava flowing from the volcanic crater. The columns that look like stacked stairs are positioned in layered hexagonal shapes and resemble a folding screen, which creates a mystical atmosphere. The waves crashing against the columns also present a captivating sight. Sometimes, the waves reach over 20 meters, providing a spectacular show for the tourists. Daepo Jusangjeolli Cliff boasts a height of 30 to 40 meters and a width of approximately 1 km, making it the largest in Korea. It was also designated as Natural Monument No. 443 in Jeju.
    🏞️Gunsan Oreum
Gunsan is an oreum surrounding a nandeureu (a broad field in Daepyeong-ri) in Daejeong. It is the largest parasitic volcano in Jeju, composed of volcanic ash deposits from volcanic eruptions. At the summit, two rock peaks rise like the twin horns of a dragon's head. On the southeast side, unique rock formations, such as Aegieopgdol, are created by distinctive erosion of the sedimentary layer. The trail is paved, making it easy to walk up. It takes about 30 minutes to reach the summit, and you'll be greeted with a spectacular view of Seogwipo from Hallasan, Jungmun Tourist Complex, Mara-do to Sanbangsan. The view of the sunrise from the east coast is known to be exceptionally breathtaking.
