- Start with a rectangle as we did in part 1 and then when asked open the booleans.dwg file from here: booleans_2000.dwg link: drive.google.c...
Basic 2D AutoCAD proficiency is required for this tutorial
This session introduces the third main modelling method = solids. quick to create, not so easy to edit. Stable and accurate method of modelling. Note that if you wish to use live sectioning in AutoCAD to create cuts then the WHOLE MODEL has to be solids.
greetings from KSA... nICE TUTORIALS ... and you personally reply all comments and questions ... that is something... thank you very much please keep it up...
you are telling very clearly and simply is the best.thank you and salute with respect from Türkiye to you.
I'm using these as well and they are extremely helpful. Never used AutoCAD before (only Solidworks) so I'm really loving these tutorials.
More than one way to skin a cat. Great job, Can clearly see the difference in the way you approach your initial layout. Thanks
thank for your idea! I really appreciate it, actually i am using autocad in my office since year 2001 until now, but i never made any effort to share what i have. But you did it and you help people learn from your very good idea of sharing. God Bless!
That's it restored Scott - thanks for letting me know. Glad you are finding the vids useful.
Thanks man! You are a great teacher :D Congratulations
Hiya - return is the old name for the enter key on your keyboard (from 'carriage return' on a typewriter) ... showing my age here! You can configure your mouse in AutoCAD to use right button to do the same, spacebar also works as a enter/return key when you are in the command prompt. Fast AutoCAD users will use their thumb(s) for this.
HI Saima - I can't think of anything specific but what I would do is avoid using circles to generate your pieces of bamboo - use a 12 or 16 sided polygon ( POL command) and then EXTrude - it will create a fixed number of sides then and be less heavy on your processor. Check out my two other videos that deal with controlling the UCS - this lets you work on any side of your model including roof. Hope that helps.
Hi Man, Really like the tutorials - learning a lot. Just got into a job and don't really have much CAD experience so these are helping tremendously! Just wanted to let you know the link for the .dwg is missing so I can't exactly mimic your actions.
Hi Shijad - if you mean civil engineer then I would go down the Revit route - BIM is where things are all heading. Revit already has a civil engineering compnent I think - if it does not then it soon will have, it's use is growing very fast here in Europe.
Hey, thanks for these tutorials!
But you should definitely create a few playlists for you tutorials, it would be really helpful... Thanks again, good job ^^
please make more videos it really helps us a lot... :) thank you
That's cool Trevor. AutoCAD is nowhere near as clever or sophisticated as Solidworks but that's part of it's charm. Fire me any queries you might have - maybe I can help if you get stuck. best regards.
Hi Shijad - do you have access to something like 3d Studio Max or Revit ? Those bits of software can make a spiral staircase much easier to create as they do it parametrically - this means you can change the width/height/change the number of stair treads, handrails, ballusters, etc - without having to remodel. A spiral stiar is considerably more work in AutoCAD and you have to make decisions at the start and stick with them. When I do a spiral stiar I use ARRAY and not HELIX btw.
I hope they are of some use to you. I much prefer AutoCAd modelling to SketchUp or Max as the layers can be controlled with keyboard shortcuts. this makes working on complex buildings much less stressful. Good weather in KSA today? Keep that oil flowing guys - the world will descend in to chaos if you don't.
I thought the viewer made the playlists. I'll look in to that. thanks
Thank you so much, you made that so simple where at uni i just can't get it and it makes no sense
Thank u!.
hi - what do you mean by an unsupported object? If it's not a closed polyline and you try and extrude it you get a 6x6 mesh sided open topped/bottomed object. If it's not a closed polyline and you try to region it it just reports back 'no can do' ! a 3d face can be extruded providing all corners are co-planar (3 or 4 corners).
Hi - do you mean you aren't sure how to do the command or when you do it your computer takes ages to complete the task?
Thanks for your quick reply........I would like to get one opinion form U, which software is more suitable for civil profession 3d max or revit ?? Iam planning to study either one of this
Great tutorials! I'm just wondering, I really want to try out these commands in the booleans.dwg file, but I can't find it. I am using a trial version, is this why it's not available?
Have you got full AutoCAD Charlotte? You won't find these commands in AutoCAD Lt.
Hi! Is AutoCAD capable of measuring the angle between two planes? For example if I draw and hip or valley roof in 3D is there a command that would tell me what the hip or valley angle was so that I know what angle to bend my trims and flashings?
Hi - yes - but it's not easy to set up. I'll post a wee video for you in the next day or so and you can see if you can get it to work at your end. I'll reply again once it's there - it's nearly sleepy time here in the UK just now and I have had a few bacardis! Promise to get back to ya.
LOL, cheers!
Video posted now man - bit tricky but I hope it answers your query - can't find the button here for 'video response': h t t p : / / ruclips.net/video/RHQBI2a0_K4/видео.html [take out the spaces]. Best regards.
Can you add one spiral staircase tutorial with helix command
is there a way to region or extrude an unsupported object?
hello , i am an architect doing a Bamboo based project , i need to make model , i m using autocad 3d 2011 version , could u give me useful links for that ? like walling , arranging bamboo , and roofing etc ?,, thank u soo much
thanks.. uhm. one question.. I'm using the 2010 version of AutoCAD and the background color is just plain white. so, can we change this to plain grey or black may be? It's really hard to see the dots on the grid.
Sure - go to Options and then Display and then Colours and you should be able to select a 'dark colour scheme'. You are working in Model Space and not Paper Space aren't you ... paper space defaults to white background and is for your layouts not for desingning/modelling.
emmockladdie thanks. another thing. how'd you do the 2D orange wire arch perpendicular to xy plane? the one you use to extrude to intersect?
surfiam maifrus That's where UCS control comes in - check my vids on the UCS command.
what do u mean by "return" everytime u say?
Imm sorry guys. I think im so dummy regarding this subtract command the Boolean one. its so awkward i take like five minutes to execute it. any alternative help.
can u draw go kart......i tried it after reading ur tutorials..but i find it very hard..i juz want to know the steps..i will really appreciate if u can do it for me..
very helpful, do you speak italian?
Truss design is not just about drawing them - loading, load transfer, stresses, twist, torsion, material strength, etc, etc - you should get enrolled on a structural engineering distance learning course - there's a lot to learn there my man. You'd be using software like StruCAD in that process. Forget AutoCAD mate - it's got no structural analysis programming in it.
Hi i need help please i cannot download the file
thanks for letting me know ... i think the webspace has lapsed. i will send you a fresh link tomorrow. best regards.
emmockladdie t hank very much
