    This is great, thank you! I've always struggled with using Shift & Trace and the whole Send to Desk thing (that's only visible in the Drawing View); I'm glad they simplified it in the Camera View and gave it its own tool. But now it's confusing if you learn it in the Drawing View vs. Camera View because they don't quite work the same way; you have to select the drawing and Shift & Trace Manipulator Tool in the Desk to move it, but select the frame you want to draw on in the Timeline to draw on that drawing. Plus the Shift & Trace Manipulator Tool in the Desk does NOT have its own Tool Properties, so resetting all the drawings isn't as easy you have to click the Shift & Trace Reset button in the Desk). So you EITHER have to use the Shift & Trace Tool in the Camera View, OR the Shift & Trace Manipulator Tool with the Desk in the Drawing View. For instance, hitting either of the Reset buttons in the Shift & Trace toolbar doesn NOTHING if you've Shifted & Traced with the Manipulator, only with the Tool. But the Manipulator and the Tool do the same exact thing!!

    Your videos are so helpful :') My senior film is traditional style paperless in harmony and I've been tracing my drawings using onion skin and then having to select the artwork and move it ALL THE TIME. IM SO HAPPY THERES A TOOL FOR THIS :D thank you for all of your videos

    Wow thank you so so much for making this video! I was always switching over to the drawing tab and adding drawings to the desk to use the shift and trace tool, but I wasn't aware that harmony 20 has a very straightforward shortcut for it! It'll definitely be super useful moving on, thanks so much again!

      this new shift and trace replaces the drawing desk and has been like that since . . . harmony 16! :) If you ever need to work on an earlier version! ^^

      @@ZeBirdBrain it's mind-boggling that my teachers never mentioned it while we were using Harmony 17;;;; thank you for pointing it out :') at least my classmates and I can in-between more easily now ^^;

    Well, I didn’t start out with paper animation, my first half of my first semester at Animation school. My professor insisted that we did everything on paper and I think I learned so much through that specifically flipping and yeah shift and trace which sadly you can do on so few software. And even in Toon boom, which is probably my favorite animation software in general, the shift and trace will never be as intuitive and as natural as shift and trace with real paper.

    Thanks for the tut Zeebird, i use this a lot in tvpaint but I'm moving to a production that requires me to use harmony and the one reason I preferred tvpaint to this was because I thought harmony didn't have this feature.

    Do you have tutorials for new users? Like basics for those who are just jumping into the animation using Harmony. What drawing tablets do you recommend?

    Okay wow so helpful! I'm always dumbfounded when a technique I learnt on my own is an actual industry technique? (I thought I was cheating!) And then the software has an actual tool to make that technique easier? Absolutely amazing

      The peg bar That holds the paper together ?? It's bought and came with an animation disk I don't have anymore!

    For me, only rough animation on paper with pencil can be scanned into the computer for digital clean-up & coloring.
