Great video! My Dad died on 4/15/2024 (obviously choosing the easier path). Mom remains alive and well, and I am preparing their 2023 tax returns a bit late. No extension request was filed, but I'm pretty certain they will not owe any money. Since Dad was still living through all of 2023, can I assume that your instructions in this video do not apply to me at this point, but will apply to me when I prepare their 2024 returns? Is there any other information that I should be aware of for their 2023 tax returns?
Did they receive Social Security, PERS or something like that? Regardless, I believe you want/need to file so the IRS knows the person is deceased and no one else can file using their SSN

What happened when the deceased spouse had unpaid credit card debts or non-recourse debts which was cancelled after his/her passing?
Wow I didn’t know the IRS was such “grave diggers”.
What if you were privately employed by someone who just recently passed away? How do I file?

What happens if the the deceased was a senior and didn't pay taxes? What forms should you use?
