This is my current wash routine! I cannot recommend it enough. Most day's I follow this up with a mousse + diffusing since it takes my hair 4+ hours to air dry :)

As a person with naturally straight hair, having curly or wavy hair seems like a lot of work. I respect all the time, money, and effort you put in your hair
It definitely can be! For me its a self care practice, so although it takes a while, its time I get to spend with myself being meditative and intentional :)
I’ve got curly hair and it’s like a bush. I literally cannot stand washing it it’s so hard
Sameeee, people are always saying they're jealous of my hair because its so long, straight and healthy. But honestly, I sometimes envy those with wavy hair because it looks so fluffy and pretty but after finding out how much work it comes with... Wow... Huge respect man
@@danielwong9568 me too like I think curls and wavy hair looks amazing and the amount of hard work and effort that is put into their hair is quite shocking
Wavy hair isn’t that hard
Glad someone shared their wavy hair routine. All the internet is full with straight and curly hair routines 😭
You literally have the hair everyone wants to achieve with curling irons or blow dryer’s so lucky😳😍
aw, thank you!!
@@SophieMarieGraf What is the name of the products you used please?
@@SophieMarieGraf you did something else, like curling iron or rollers to get all that volume for your finished look, right?? It’s def beautiful! 💗
@@juliagem7267 no that is just my hair!
Anyone trying to find these products are custom made by 'Prose'. ✌🏼🍀
My FULL bowl method + diffusing routine is now posted 💛
Since this seems to be a point of confusion: products like this will NOT create waves or curls in someone's hair! Nor will scrunching. Straight hair will not respond to this. These are methods people of all texture types (waves, curls, coils) do to help define their texture. This is not something that *needs* to be done, but it helps reduce frizz, improve hair health, and increase definition for waves! Obviously my hair still dries wavy without this, just very puffy and frizzy, so I like to do a routine :)
Products: Prose shampoo/conditioner/curl cream :)
I recommend Not Your Mother's Curl Talk mousse or the John Frieda curl reviver mousse if you want a hold product! I use OUAI's hair oil to scrunch out the crunch :)
Gorgeous, serious hair goals ❤️💕 I’m sorry, but I wasn’t able to catch it. What were the names of the products in particular here that you used? I’m interested in switching up my shampoo and conditioner game because my hair has a similar wave to yours. I know for a fact I don’t invest in it like I should, and damn it I’m turning 40 this year. I wanna look and feel good🥰😍
@@Kristenrb1 Haha do not apologize, this is such a fast video! I made it for my TikTok, but I'm in the process of filming longer form videos for RUclips :)
I specifically use Prose shampoo/conditioner/curl cream--they are a custom hair care company and while a bit pricey they are 100% worth it IMO. Ive been using the shampoo/conditioner for 3 years and have yet to find anything that compares (sadly I am not sponsored by them haha)
I am currently also using John Frieda's dream curls curl reviver mousse on days when I want extra hold and volume!
And the diffuser is from Drybar :)
None of those are paid promotions, just stuff I buy for myself and love, but I do have affiliate links for those all on my website!

Right!! Exactly how I feel 😂😂
Having curly hair, I’ve found that putting a mixture of cream, oil and a bit of water into a spray bottle and distributing it throughout my hair saves a lot of time and helps with refreshing my curls from day to day 👍

Uhm thank you it take WAY to long to do my hair
What cream and oil combo would you recommend? I have wavy hair but have no idea how to style naturally
I have wavy hair but I’ve never really known how to enhance it so I always end up brushing it and making my hair super frizzy. But now I’m going to try this. tysm 💖

Is there a website or something I can look at?
I'm 63 and have had issues my entire life with my hair! And it used to be REALLY thick... Folk's pulled on it cuz they thought it was a wig! LoL
Now it's falling out 😧 and getting so thin. I have medical issues and take Med's so might be part of it.
Anyway... Thank you for sharing this.
Beautiful ❤️
I have the same problem. I recently cut my hair to about shoulder length and struggle even more now. Any tips how to define waves w short hair?
Same here
I am glad to see everyone finding what works for them and embracing their natural beauty. (hair, face, body)
i have naturally wavy hair, and while it’s gorgeous sometimes, it’s also such a hassle to keep brushed and neat
I just let it do it’s thing, its a rats nest but I always get compliments on it.
I don't brush it and I still get a lot of compliments for it even tho it's a mess
SAME my hair looks like the one in the video but just when when the weather is good 💀 sometimes it looks like that awful fluffy after braids pattern and sometimes its just flat , like omg DECIDE YOUR TEXTURE 🥴💀🤣
SAME it looks so messy 😭
Damn, girl! Your hair looks as if it was professionally styled with heat! My wet hair has a very similar wave pattern as your wet hair🤔I’d love to see if I could attain this same result, but ngl, even if I didn’t have children and thus had the time for this… I’d never spend it on my hair regularly🤣 But keep on it! You look absolutely stunning💜
Yeah idk
I know everyone wants those type 3 curls but I think 2a waves are soooo gorgeous 😍
Lol, I've long since forgiven her but my Mom made me think there was something "wrong" with my hair growing up because she couldn't get it to be straight like hers! I think it's so weird that it didn't occur to her my hair might not do the same things as hers? These videos have inspired me to start cultivating my waves again instead of aggressively brushing them out and wondering why I "can't do anything" with my hair. Thank you!
I feel you. It would be disturbing for you when the only world you knew 'your mom' tried to make you feel that there was something wrong in your hair😔
THANK YOU SO MUCH! My hair type is 2A and I just figured it out because my waves were almost invisible and I thought it was just slightly on the wavy side. They were so much more defined after this!!!
I did it! I finally did it! I had a feeling my hair had a lot more curl than I gave it credit for. I absolutely love it! Thank you so much for sharing. I'm excited to get some products and play with it a little bit to perfect it for summer time :) I've never had more body in my hair EVER!
girlll her hair looks perrrrfect
This is a tutorial I have been desperately needing. I have frizzy and wavy hair, but products always seem too heavy and weigh my waves down. I have a similar wave pattern to yours, but I can never keep my waves clumped. I’m going to try out these methods!
For years I found my curls and the last two have finally embraced them. It's been very cathartic to see how much healthier it's gotten from the right care
I have 3b/3c curly hair, but you have some great tips that I've tried that have helped my hair!
I love this method, i just found it out last week after months of trying different methods i noticed that my hair has the best curls when it's soaking wet so i tried this and it worked perfectly! 👌🏼😍
Yay!! Wet styling is my favorite--I end up getting a lot of frizz when I style on damp hair
THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR POSTING THIS😫 My hair is always been a struggle. When I was younger I had wavy hair but my mom had straight hair so she didn't know how to take care of it. Growing up I was told my hair didn't need special care or anything. Now I'm finally trying to take care of my hair. I stopped straightening it and I'm trying to care for my waves. If anyone has any tips on how to revive waves/slight curls plz let me know.
so damage can definitely make it hard! the number one best thing would be to get a hair cut, but routines like these and using products that help with bond formation can be a great way to bring some strength and vitality back into your hair :)
@@SophieMarieGraf thank you for the tips! I'm definitely trying to get into a hair care routine. Hopefully my waves will start to be healthy again. In the back I have some pieces that still form curls so there's hope.
This is literally the same thing I’m going through, I always thought I had wavy hair since I was little. My family members dismissed the idea due to the fact that no one in the family has/had any kind of curls (as far as we know) so my whole life they told me I had straight hair even though I very much thought my hair was wavy. Fast forward a couple of years later (about 2-3 months from now) I remember waking up the next morning and my older sister (a hairstylist) asking if I curled my hair, I answer with “no” and asked “why?” She then said my hair may be curly/ had the potential to be curly. That is when I started noticing how wavy my hair looked (constantly). So now I’m trying to find methods/ hair care routines for wavy/curly hair.
@@jazzyc4850 Yes! This routine by Sophie is actually helping a lot. (My hair was dyed and heat damaged so it'll take time to be healthy). But my curls are coming back! I hope your curls come back too🌸
@@jazzyc4850 I hope my videos can help! :)
I did a straightening treatment about one year ago because I couldn’t handle all the frizz and puffiness to the point I would have a breakdown while drying my hair and had to wash it the night before so it would calm down a little over the night so I didn’t look crazy when I left the house. Also, my hair is VERY thick. As if it wasn’t enough I live in a very humid place so it was really a nightmare for me. I got made fun of several times because my puffy hair made me look like “I got struck by lightning”. My mom has really straight hair so she never understood my struggles. I’m slowing regretting my decision of straightening it because I didn’t know that straight hair routine is not universal for every kind of hair, but I think it’s now slowly going back to its original form? I’m going to try this routine, wish me luck! 🥺
How old are you?
I'm so sorry you have went through all of that! It really is tough when the main stream hair care we are taught only works for a very specific hair type (and a lot more people have wavy hair than they realize!)
I hope that this can work for you, or at least give you a place to start from :)
Considering i did the same. Just because i was bullied for having ramen hair, i started straightening my hair for years until i realised no one cared. Got a major hair cut 4 years back and now i have been trying to include this routine even though it's tiring enough but atleast i feel more confident 🥺 more power to you babes
Hi, you don't need to do all this to tame that mane.
I have often been called a lion for my hair lmao. What works for me is to switch to a different shampoo & conditioner, you can tell before the end of the bottle if it works. Another thing I did was a keratin treatment that you use like a hair mask in the shower, only need it once a week or so and it keeps everything smooth.
I did eventually just switch shampoo and conditioner so don't need the keratin treatments anymore.
I just let my hair airdry out of the shower, I don't need oils or leave-in conditioners.
My hair is much thicker and curlier than the girl in the video. No hate to her or anything, I just can't possibly imagine doin this routine even one time.
Another tip is I gradually went from washing it every other day to twice a week.
Also, the hairdresser you have can be a culprit. I used to have bad hair days until I went to a little old lady who knows how to cut curly hair. Not flashy or expensive, she just knows her stuff.
Hope these tips help.
This routine is not for everyone. Please look at more videos. With curly hair u have to use more products after this specially if it's frizzy. A product u could look into is "Frizz ease" or other serums like it. This hair is closer to straight than curly so frizziness will still be apparent after doing this
Why are people so pressed whenever someone mentions their hair routine?? Take a chill pill people.
Legit lmfao and it's mostly curly or coily haired folks lol
One reason I tried CG 10 years ago and ran screaming was bc the "community" was so obnoxious and elitist.
Gatekeeping curls lol and tbh jealous that sm ppl have the natural waves that most girls spend so much money and curling irons on. Wavy hair is definitely the most desired hair so i get why thr jealousy is loud
Bc they think they are better for having a more “complicated routine” lmao also im noticing its mostly people with type c hair that are acting this way
this looks so good on you!! my hair is also wavy/curly, so I'm DEFINITELY trying this out!
Be careful with the bowl method, you can get moisture overload which leaves the hair too soft and mushy, moisture overload can be fixed with a protein product
Thank you so much i thought i had frizzy straight hair, but it turns out i have wavy hair. I just discovered this by doing your method !
Please post a detailed video.
Thank you.
Btw, you are so gorgeous ❤️
As someone with curly hair and have invested a lot of time and money on my routine.. I have never ever even once seen this bowl method 😲 I'm glad for you that you've found whats works for you.. your waves be looking real good 💪💪❤️
Haha yes its such a funny looking method right? It went viral on TikTok/IG, so I figured I would give it a try :) I like it because it only takes ~3min max, and I don't need to do any brush styling, sectioning, etc!
wow I thought in the first clip you had used heat on your hair turns you just naturally have that hair structure girl you’re so lucky
My sister who has straight hair said, “Curly hair looks like angel hair. Wish I had natural curls.” I loved my curls since. 💗
“Sometimes I SQUISH to CONDISH” 😂 I love that!!
wait- i have to try the bowl method now… it allows so much hair into your hair at once and makes it moisturized 😍💖
Damn, my back hurts just from watching 😭😭😭
If this is your results the time is worth it!! Gorgeous!!
I have naturally curly/wavy hair it doesn’t matter how I wash it or what I use in it it’s always curly/wavy and I have short hair rn so I usually just straighten it it’s a lot less work but yours looks absolutely beautiful when I leave mine naturally it looks funny
I used to have stick straight hair as a kid, but as I’ve gotten older and moved to a new climate, my hair had gotten more wave to it and I haven’t been able to figure out how to care for it. My straight hair routine just isn’t doing anything for my waves and I want to learn how to care for my waves so they can look their best and be healthy. This is really helpful and gives me some ideas on what I should be doing!
It literally looks like she got out of salon 😍
I wish my hair was like that
Ooh! Finally someone with wavy hair whose curls I actually like!
I'm so happy I have pin straight hair. Could not imagine living like you curly/wavy hair girls
I am going to try this, I have been struggling with frizziness and I was always so insecure about it…. When I go back to school I hope this will help me achieve an absolute hair transformation!!
As someone with curly hair, you dont need to do this at all lol. You'll end up washing a lot of the curl cream out. This is wayyyy too much work for something you could accomplish with damp hair. I don't brush my hair after I'm out of the shower. Finger combing the product through is better for your hair and will cut down on breakage
I can’t speak for the water dunking method as I’ve never used it or seen it before, but I can say that curl hair and wavy hair are not the same thing. I’ve found that waves often need much more TLC, as their patter is almost more fragile in a way - by that I mean that it’s more prone to falling out and straightening with excessive touch, weight of products, not activating the pattern enough before drying, and other factors. Curls mean business and will let themselves be known without much assistance, I’m so jealous of that aspect!! Love my waves, but they can be finicky - that’s why I usually just wear it half straight 😂 ploppimg feels extra to me, but my waves yeet themselves straight without it
Different hair types react well to different things! But I will say I have seen plenty of people with coils who also swear by the bowl method. It really all comes down to hair porosity and personal preference for what type of look you like :)
Emphasis on when she says “here’s my”
Exactly. Combing hair when wet will damage it a lot and cause split ends.
I have curly hair, my hair is so curly that if I don't come it after the shower, it will turn into frizzy dread-like curls. I don't think it's easy for anyone to advice on hair, because even if we have the same hair texture, it doesn't mean our hair response is gonna be the same too.
Idk why but when i was younger, i hated having wavy hair (i didnt know how to take care of it) now im grateful my hair is wavy
The difficult thing about looser curls is that, at least for me, you have to be fast from the moment you step out of the shower, as the weight of the water can cause your hair to dry straight. I have to style my hair everyday due to it flattening when my hair is pulled straight while being pressed down for a long duration (aka, sleeping on my pillow).
Get a silk scrunchie and pull your hair loosley on the top of your head and wrap it with a scarf or wear a bonnet 👍 that should help volume and keeping your curls in place
Yes I second the recommendation for wrapping your hair at night! I have a video showing what I do. It keeps my waves looking good for 3+ days :)
And yes 100% about the water weight. My hair is low porosity, so once water gets in there it stays and can really weigh it down! That's why things like plopping are really helpful for my hair!
SAME I have 2b-3a hair but really fine hair, and it's infuriating. It goes completely straight after I sleep, even with a silk scrunchie and a bonnet. That just doesn't help.
Oh my goodness, your beautiful natural hair looks even better than a fresh blow out and and curled with a big curling iron! How beautiful! I wish I could get my curls to be as defined and friz free, but it needs more hold than what just a girl cream does by itself. ☹ You are lucky to have such beautiful hair girlie! ♡♡♡
I have loose curls, I try to make sure my hair is always brushed and braided unless I’m washing it or currently brushing it. I know how to make my curls look good but the tangles after are not worth it unless it’s for something like a photo shoot.
Proper products/techniques can help prevent tangling! I actually don't deal with any knots as long as I do my sleep routine at night, and I go 3-4 days between washes!
You have the best wavy hair I have ever seen...❤
I want to achieve this type of hair too as recently I found out that my hairs are wavy too...

I thought my hair was straight, but it always gets a wave if it air dries, it holds waves for days with any method I use (braiding, curling iron), and it gets soo frizzy. I think I'll try this the next time I wash it.
Your wavy hair is so beautiful
i have naturally wavy hair, its wavy no matter what, whether i dont brush it or do, or if i font wash it or do
Same, I can even flatten it and it’ll still turn wavy in like an hour. Her hair isn’t naturally wavy, she’s making it wavy.
@@kitkatgirl5673 not true. Someone with straight hair could do this routine and they would still have straight hair by the end of it. I don’t know why people think these products magically just create waves or curls in peoples hair. That’s not how I works lmao

I love wavy hair. Can straight, curl , can do whatever you want. Straight is little hard to care. Whole life with same type, little boring.
I have naturally wavy hair and I’ve always been ashamed of it, I used to straighten my hair 24-7 which really damaged my hair, it’s been nearly 10 years and I’ve decided to let my natural hair heal and embrace my waves, I’m trying to learn how to but it isn’t easy as my waves have been damaged from the years of extreme straightening 🙏😭

I agree! It's not about *having* to do anything--this is just a video on a routine that helps define waves :) things like the bowl method also help drive moisture into low porosity hair like mine which helps with overall hair health as well!
People with straight hair:
We don't have to, we just want to
@@ryujinswig3253 So I think its pretty clear you don't know much about hair routines. Routines are helpful for all textures from waves to coils because they help reduce frizz, define texture, and improve hair health. They will *not* create texture, and my hair is most definitely not straight haha!
@@SophieMarieGraf I think you're confused because I meant that they have straight hair so they don't have to worry about it
I probably worded that wrongly
If your hair wasn’t straight you wouldn’t need to do the most for 3 waves

Nice routine but a hair texture is something you already have without having to use product
Products help to enhance natural texture, not create it! It's not about "having" to use a product, just that certain products will help with hair health, frizz, definition, etc. :)

Tysm this helped me so much❤🫶
If your hair is naturally wavy I feel like you wouldn’t have to do all this and use products idk tho, can somebody explain?
I have naturally wavy hair and NEVER have to do this.
I’ve never met a curly/wavy haired person that doesn’t use product. Why do you think those products exist in the first place.
As a curly girl, using the products and scrunching, etc can just help cut down on frizz. Some ppl also feel that their curls stay defined and last longer through the day/week instead of turning into a big puff ball lol.
I used to do a whole routine and my curls looked so nice, but now I do nothing to my hair and really miss how nice my hair used to look with a product and a little bit of a scrunchy blow dry.
All this is to retain definition and limit frizz. Also retain moisture and smoothness.
My son has natural curly hair all he does is shower normally and his curls get tight without any products the only time I have to use any products is in the morning when he has bed head but if he showers in the morning no product for the whole day . But I guess this is not the case for everyone this girl doing a lot of work .
My hair is exactly like yours. I just recently cut it to my shoulders and layered it and now the waves really show. I use a wide tooth comb after I wash it so I don’t comb all the waves out, then use a light leave in conditioner and scrunch in some mousse and let it air dry. Works well and looks like beach waves. If it gets frizzy I’ll use a bit of Joico’s Blonde Hair polishing oil or Olaplex #7 oil.
Never had to do all that. Lol
And?
I tried this method just once to even see if my hair might be curly because it's always been wavy when wet but it's so thick and heavy it just straightens out. It looked so good after this but would be so much better if I had the right products. I can't wait to try it!
Don’t brush wet hair please 😭😭😭 you’re just breaking it! Use a comb and be gentle please
Yes, this is done with my wet brush so it doesn’t cause damage!
as long as ur gentle you can brush it when wet
You can brush curly hair when it’s wet. It’s part of the curly girl method !!
Your supposed to brush your hair wet it causes less damage
for straight hair you brush when dry for curly or wavy hair you brush when wey
I have thick curly hair and our routine is different but i use prose and omg it has been the best thing ever. Nothing worked well with my hair until I started prose and my hair is so healthy now.
It’s not “discovering I have wavy/curly hair” it’s the way you dry it, and the products you use along with the method
Your hair is gorgeous! 😍
Y’all Oml STOP DOING THIS if you have natural waves or curls or whatever just wash your hair and use a towel to dry your hair then add cream NOT curl cream just cream and that’s it ruffle it a bit after y’all are doing to much when your hair isn’t actually wavy to make it look like it
Ps:t-shirts aren’t necessary
Love how she wraps her hair on the bed 😊
If you have to do things to make it wavy it’s not naturally wavy.
You simply don't understand wavy hair. Do you not style your hair? People with waves and looser curls do have to use products and scrunch their hair. There's no way to make straight hair become wavy without deliberately styling that way with a wave iron, curling iron, or overnight heatless curls set
I have naturally wavy and very oily hair. My hair has a mind of its own. Somedays after washing it becomes curly and on other days it becomes straight. I just wash my hair with shampoo every other day and I love whatever my hair decides to look like each day 🙃
Nice! :)
you did not find out you have curly hair you applied tons of product to make your hair curly 😭
Hi. I just wanted to let you know that you can't make your hair curly or wavy by using lots of products unless you naturally have the texture. We use lots of products to overcome heat damage, wrong care damage, frizz and dryness etc etc using some creams and plopping your hair won't magically give them a texture that they don't have.
- sincerely a 3b curly head
What? You cant change your hair texture with a cream or with a shirt.
Sometimes hair has to be shaped to form the waves, or else it will look weird (but never straight). And her hair is wavy, not curly, these hair types arent the same.
that’s not even curls and straight hair would not hold the product that well she would just end up with greasy hair in the end if her hair was straight
Do you not use hair products? Just say you don't understand loose curls/waves or fine hair
Omgggg I use that shampoo and conditioner! It makes your hair so soft!
Can u pls name the shampoo and conditioner
@@amnarehman1134 it’s called Prose! You can customize the shampoo and conditioner

Natural? That’s a lot of prep for “nAtUrAl”
this is very similar to most peoples' hairwash routine with the exception of the curl cream and tshirt anyways. not A LOT of prep
all hair textures, from wavy to coils, benefit from a good wash routine! this won't create texture where there is none :)
Even using the wrong brush or comb will change the hair texture when it’s wavy or curly. So in a way having wavy or curly hair is a lot of work when you don’t know what products to use.

If you have to do all that you’re forcing it
That’s not how textured hair works? I mean this with no disrespect but I have curly hair. I have all of my life. However, with texture, comes frizz. It’s called hair care. I’ve actually tried to do my curly routine on my friends with straight hair (multiple people) and nothing happened and their hair just stayed flat. It’s a common misconception that just because you take care of your curls it’s “forcing it.” It’s not. The point is to make them more defined but if she didn’t have waves then it wouldn’t work
This is called hair care. The "bowl method" is over the top, but you can't force your hair into another texture through water or products or a shirt or anything. She has wavy hair. She's doing all this to define it, add moisture, etc.
Trying this today! I’ll get back to y’all with my results afterwards
(Ok so I did this and I don’t have a diffuser but I tried it with a strainer and normal hair dryer lol and it really brought out my natural curl pattern 😍 I thought it was 2a but it’s actually a 2c. I’m gonna keep training my curls with this method and gonna invest in a diffuser but for now I totally recommend it)
I needed this method thanks
Wow your hair looks so healthy😍
