DIY Hunting Blind Build!

  • We built an awesome 2-man hunting house/blind for our back field here at Collins Country. We cut down our own cedar trees, cut our own lumber on our Woodland Mills HM126 sawmill and then built the hunting house from scratch in 2 days. It is exactly what we needed! It can comfortably fit 2-3 adults with shooting access on all 4 sides of the blind. Thanks for watching!

I said Yeah and The deer hunters have advantage of the deer to smell the cedar or mesquite woods blinds that is why the deer do not smell the deer hunters. Smart Idea! I hunted in Mesquite Deer Blind at high fence
in the past. I saw 8 point buck +175 lbs. I shot 8 pt buck down. The field dressing was 159 lbs. I said Yes I am happy. The answer was South Zone of Hondo, Texas. Not far from 777 Ranch. I had a good time. The hunting guide did a good job. He believed that The Deaf Hunter can do it. Thanks for your time. Have a great day!

I put my tag on buck's antler before go home. The game warden left me alone for no fine. No problem!
    I played smart.

Hello there! Yes, the cedar smell does help mask our cent:) We love the blind and have used it a lot. We will use it even more once our kids start hunting! Your hunt sounds like a great hunt! Congrats!!!! That is awesome and a lot of meat for the freezer!!!!! Also- I cannot imagine hunting without my sound. That is impressive that you can do it deaf! You should really be proud of your accomplishment! I often hear deer coming so I have time to get my gun ready before they are in shooting range... You have good skill to successfully hunt without the sound advantage. You should make a video about your hunting deaf experience- I would love to hear it and I know others would too!!!! Have a great rest of your week!

My answer is to use my eyes to see the movements by whitetail deer (tails).
You can hear. I can't hear. Thanks your time. Have a good year in 2022!

On November 26, 2021 I saw 10 pt. good buck at 45 yards on my own private property. I said Go and Fire, I shot through the cedar tree and got him. I said Oh yes. North Zone in Medina County. I was so happy 😊.
No wonder: 7MM Mag with 150 GR.
      Power Hit!
My favorite rifle is .243 Ruger with 100 GR. 80-100 GR is the best choice for .243 deer rifle. Okay!

Some temporary covers on the door and windows should keep leaves and trash and blowing rain out and dissuade the rodents that will inevitably want to nest in it and store their winter food hoard.

+Wilson Frye Good idea! We have actually thought about building windows and a door because you are 100% right. Animals have already moved in 😆 Nothing we can’t trap, though:) I like your idea though. If we don’t build permanent windows and doors, we will for sure do you plan!

WOW using cedar we use pine down south less expensive an use cedar for the nice things around the house Must have a lot of cedar? I do understand why you used it but was moreso thinking of cost but if your milling it yourself use what is available

Hey! Yes! We have tons of cedar. It is the main reason why we bought a sawmill. We didn’t want to waste the trees we wanted rid of. I would use poplar or pine if I had it but we have none other than the few that I planted. We have mostly cedars, red, and white oak. Thanks for watching!!

I am thinking about doing this too. Did the cedar get small over time or stay the same. Did you put anything on it after you built it

    • @CollinsCountry
      @CollinsCountry  2 года назад

+josh lake Hey! The cedar has not shrunk or gotten smaller over time. Out of all the wood we have killed and worked with, cedar is the best to use outside because it shrinks and cracks the least. It’s amazing wood to work with! If it did shrink, we were going to add thin strips of board and batten to cover cracks between the boards, but it didn’t shrink at all. No gaps present:) We did not put any finish or stain on it when it was finished. Cedar is naturally rot resistant. It’s like using treated lumber… Hole that helps!
