      Wow they’re fixing it on warranty for you? That’s awesome!
      Wish I would’ve had that option but I’m not sure if it’s The Music Zoo or Fender at fault.
      Also, do you mind if I use a screenshot of your comment in my update video?

    Thanks for your review:
    I bought my Squier CV Starcaster new 2 months ago here in Sydney, Australia. No issue with the Volume/tone pots, they work fine ( maybe there was a quality control issue with earlier production run)
    Guitar Nicely set up out of the box with 09 - 42, I normally play 10 - 46 , and originally planned to put 10s on , but Guitar is a joy with 09s I will stick with them.
    I love the varnished neck , it's comfortable and fast.
    The stock Open Squier Humbuckers sound great as is, no need to replace.
    They sound great whether , clean, crunchy or dirty.
    I have been playing for several years.
    This is my 1st semi accoustic electric guitar purchase - No regrets.
    Highly recommended, this is my 4th Squier - all 4 were made in Indonesia - I'm impressed with the quality and craftsmanship of Indo Squuers
    👍👍👍👍👍🎸

      Congrats! Glad to hear you had no issues. It’s really a great guitar!
      The strings are a lot of fun. I put a 09.5-44 set of strings on one of my guitars because I had so much fun playing the factory strings on the Squiers.

    Hey Sunny - I've got a CV Starcaster in Sunburst, and it doesn't have the same issue - I wonder if yours was a lemon from the factory? The tone pots on mine are actually incredibly responsive, much more so than my 2015 American Deluxe Telecaster.

    • @sunnyhaair
      @sunnyhaair  4 года назад +5

      bthalko I’m happy to hear that! Glad you got a good one.
      It’s not not necessarily that the tone knobs were unresponsive, just that the volume knobs lost their taper with the tone controls “off”. I’ve spoke with a few others who have the same issue.
      How’s the sweep on your volume knobs when the tone knobs are disengaged?

      I still haven’t bought another CV Starcaster but I still have me Affinity one. I’ll be posting a one year update on that one within the next couple weeks. I was thinking about picking up another CV Starcaster to see if they’ve got the QC issues together or if I’ll have to bring out the T-Reamer and soldering iron to fix it this time.
      And thank you for the compliment! I’m not familiar with the Chameleons I’ll have to them em out!

    Hi, thank you very much for the vid (i'am french). Its a good review! those pickups sound good in clean, your volume is always at 10 or you have to lower the volume to have a good clean sound like an es335? I want to buy this guitar (the classic vibe.) I need a good fat clean bright but not harsh and without "ice pic", il love fender but many of them guitar are too bright.

    • @sunnyhaair
      @sunnyhaair  5 лет назад +1

      Kévin Navizet Thanks for watching! Yep, both pickups are always at full volume in this video except for the little area at the 4:00 mark. They’re incredible pickups and don’t sound too bright at all! I think you’ll love it.

    I love the look of the CV model but the contemporary model has access on the back to pots and the switch so I'm considering getting one of those instead and swapping the pots for 500k good ones and pickups for seymour duncan JBs bypassing the battery boosted stock pickups....the sea foam green on those is beautiful

    • @sunnyhaair
      @sunnyhaair  3 года назад +2

      That convenience is awesome, but I love the f-hole look too haha. As long as you’ve got the right tools and patience, it’s really not too tough on the CV or Affinity models.
      I’m currently filming the instal of a 1 Meg CTS pot and a coil tap toggle for the Tom Anderson pickups I put in the Affinity Starcaster last year.

    I’ve been pining for this exact guitar since it was announced so I got mine shipped to the store. Sat down and played it for a solid 10 minutes, messing with everything because of this video. Everything worked perfectly fine, unfortunately I think yours might be a lemon or was damaged in transit :( sorry man, it’s a killer guitar

      I was just in Guitar Center yesterday and played one of the Affinity Series ones. It was one of my favorites that I played all day, and I was there for a while. I’ve been looking for a cheap-ish guitar for school (if I get in) so I wouldn’t have to worry about replacing an expensive one if (god forbid) it were to get stolen, and I had been leaning toward a semi-hollow. That Starcaster didn’t disappoint and is certainly the leading contender right now!

    Are those pickups normal sized? They sound decent, but if I wanted to mod, I want to be able to. Some tech told me fender HB were bigger, and I’d have a problem changing humbuckers.

    • @sunnyhaair
      @sunnyhaair  5 лет назад +1

      They are indeed bigger than standard humbuckers :/ There’s a few options for replacement WRH if you don’t have specific humbuckers in mind but just don’t like these stock WRHs.
      The Affinity one is routed for standard humbuckers though! I’ve replaced the pickups in mine and it was a breeze.

    • @timkaefermusic
      @timkaefermusic 5 лет назад +1

      I'm planning to make custom pickup rings out of some wood for mine to just downsize them. So that's definitely an option as the routs are big enough.

    Ours is exactly the same way so we think they are all the same. Working on a rewire with correct 1meg pots of better quality and hoping for the best. Great guitar but totally worthless electronics. Can’t even give the pickups a fair assessment either until the other issues are addressed.

    It's not like, on a $400 guitar, you're not going to change the pots, switch, and output out for USA made stuff anyway. At least that's what I always do on a foreign made guitar. Part of the sacrifice for buying a Squier, you just go into it knowing that. All other reviews seem to be overwhelmingly popular. It's too bad they couldn't give you a partial refund to cover the cost of parts replacement.
