I don't think I will ever have as much fun watching the original movie or any future Howard the Duck movie as I've had listening to you and HDTGM talk about it and seeing your honest trailer on it.
Not to get all dark but: I made my grandpa take me to go see Howard the Duck in the theater on opening weekend when I was 12. He never let me live that afternoon down. He joked about it for years, every bad movie he saw got the same review, “at least it’s better than Howard The Duck.” He was in hospice care when GotG came out and when I visited and told him he’d lived long enough for Howard the Duck to return to movie screens his response was “yep, time to go!” That was the last time I saw him, he hated this film and joked with me about it all the way to the end. I’m sure somewhere he’s laughing his ass off at your honest trailer. Thanks for this one guys.
1985: Lea Thompson stars in a movie where her character is attracted to her own son 1986: Lea Thompson stars in a movie where her character is attracted to a duck
Killer shirt, Joe! Love it! Spencer asking if ducks are mammals made laugh so hard I had to pause. It reminded me of the JCVD-Dutch-Belgium discussion when you were doing Predator. They're birds, Spencer. They're birds ;)
Thank you so much for going through this torture. Howard the Duck is my favorite movie specifically because it is so effing bad. I'm a huge fan of Honest Trailers & it was awesome seeing Howard the Duck getting the Honest Trailers treatment. Kudos to you guys!
"Aphrodisiquack" was the exact moment I hit the like button. But I simultaneously hate it for being something I will never be able to rid my brain of... :)
@@ballsrgrossnugly But then I would miss out on whatever dry comment Dan will entertain me with next... and I couldn't live with myself if I let that happen...
This movie definitely falls into "it's so bad it's good" territory. I bought the DVD as soon as it was released because I had the VHS and it was worn out. This movie is awesome to put on for friends who have never seen it before.
I remember going to see this with my best friend when it was released in theatres. We laughed so much, just non-stop pretty much! " What the F are we watching!" To do this day it is a highlight of my film going experience. I will never forget it and thus it holds a special place in my heart.
(Before Howard the Duck) George Lucas and Marvel together to make a movie? It will be great! (After Howard the Duck) George Lucas and Marvel should never make a movie together.
from wikipedia: There is no universally-agreed plural form of "platypus" in the English language. Scientists generally use "platypuses" or simply "platypus". Colloquially, the term "platypi" is also used for the plural, although this is technically incorrect and a form of pseudo-Latin;[10] the correct Greek plural would be "platypodes".
OH MY GOD who did the quiet off camera "woo-oo" when Joe mentioned getting back to the duck boobs? I laughed so hard I cried. This HT group is amazing.
I'm sorry, Spencer doesn't know the difference between a BIRD and a MAMMAL.....? This has shaken my entire worldview to its core! Spencer's one of the sharpest people on RUclips and yet somehow a piece of knowledge THIS elementary eluded him...? How do I even process this???
Welcome to the broken American education system. Even if we graduate, it's all about passing standardized tests and not about retaining any actual knowledge.
Let it be known that in 2018, people went to 70mm Howard the Duck screenings in Portland Or and Seattle Wa. I don't know why we can see that in 70mm but not Empire Strikes Back.
To add to Spencer's point on 5:44 , technically that Captain America short is a Timely Comics film, since the Marvel brand didn't start until the 1960s
This would be the one movie I'd like to see the full behind the scenes commentary for. I'd would watch them comment on the full movie as they watch the full movie. Love this.
I hope y’all appreciate the struggle I just went through, deciding if I was willing to pause Lemonade to watch this. Turns out I am, but it’s a near thing.
Too one-sided of a question, obviously Shape of Water monater is preferable in every conceivable way. Whoever dinged in first would get an automatic win
Wait, so you knew we requested the 1998 Avengers movie all along?! Well, since you're out of Marvel stuff to cover now, maybe you can cover that sometime before Phase 4 begins. (And trust me, it's just as ridiculous as Howard the Duck!) Also, I think next week's Honest Trailer is for The LEGO Movie 2.
Agree! It does make me laugh though and I surprise my friends with this movie on movie nights. Nobody is a fan, but we have great time ripping it apart.
Spencer has clearly never been on the internet. Humans would get it on with ANYTHING anthropomorphic. Put legs on a toaster, and someone would go there. It's like he's never heard of Rule 34.
Monotremes are a class of mammal. There are only five living monotreme species: the duck-billed platypus and four species of echidna (also known as spiny anteaters). All of them are found only in Australia and New Guinea. The five most well known classes of vertebrates (animals with backbones) are mammals, birds, fish, reptiles, amphibians. So birds are just classed as birds. Thanks grade 4 biology!
Everyone loves to hate on this movie. Sure, it doesn't hold up when compared to today's Marvel movies... but 8 yr old me must have rented this VHS 20+ times & loved it!!
If you guys are like me, when I watched this as a kid, it was the version I recorded off TV (back when they'd show movies at like noon on a Saturday) on the VCR, which may be why I don't remember all the adult-ish stuff.

"One more ewok movie George, then it's ducks all the way." 🤣🤣🤣
I lol'd at that while running in the middle of the night, haha! If anyone saw me I would've looked like a lunatic, cause I had head phones in.
I couldn't stop laughing. What a perfect line.
@@OtherwiseSix and the delivery of the line too, Haha! I love listening to them do George Lucas impressions! Lol!
I would love to watch Dan & Joe go back and forth with Mickey/George and Harrison Ford Impressions 😂😂
I don't think I've seen Dan laugh so much before. It's quite heartwarming
At one point I think he was about to spit take but he calmly swallowed his cola.
The baby has already broken Spencer's brain. He forgot ducks are birds.

"Can you milk a duck?" 😂😂😂

Yes... its called making an omelette
@@adamsagehorn3520 Lol. An Omelette. Yes a duck is a bird, not a mammal.
Fatherhood must really be doing a number on Spencer since he thinks ducks breastfeed their young now xD
Man, what a great addition to the team is Danielle. She brings so much energy to the show
And fun facts
This is one of the best commentaries in a long time. And "aphrodisi-quack" was another really underrated pun from Joe.
1985: Lea Thompson stars in a movie where her character is attracted to her own son
1986: Lea Thompson stars in a movie where her character is attracted to a duck
Poor Lea.
This has got to be the funniest commentary ever. Dan can't even show his face. He is losing it.
I wish every Honest Trailer Commentary called for a George Lucas impression. Makes me laugh every time. “It’s like poetry...”
The Honest Trailer is brilliant, but somehow this Commentary is funnier!
I could watch a 20 minute episode of Dan, Spencer and Joe doing George Lucas impressions.
I NEED all of that Lucas dialogue to be animated by How It Should've Ended.
my god. please.

Francesco the American Education System...
The breakdown of Nostalgia Critic, Epic Meal Time, and Hot Ones at the end was hilarious.
The "pizza rolls" bit was also a reference to Red Letter Media.
Also the "ding" is cinema sins
Funny enough, Howard the duck was done by the nostalgia critic in 2008, it was one of his best early reviews.
That stop-motion monster at the end of the movie is great. Nobody can take that away from the movie.

Howard the Duck is a classic. You can't change my mind.

Greatest. Commentary. Ever.
Howard the Duck is one of my fav fun 80s movies & the soundtrack (both orchestral & Thomas Dolby) are pretty awesome.
The platypus sweat their own milk... TRUE FACT
So no niples to be around either

George Lucas and Marvel together to make a movie? It will be great!

George Lucas and Marvel should never make a movie together.
Platypuses are egg laying mammals (monotremes) have a milk patch in lieu of nipples. The milk patch still produces milk though.

This is the most fun commentary yall have done.
Best combo so far for commentary!
This commentary is exponentially funnier than the movie they commented on.
"still better than 'Bright'" facts.
Random (but very true) fact: In Sweden, the title of this movie was "Ingen plockar Howard", which translates to "No one plucks Howard". Because PUNS!
One of the best commentary's ever. Joe's response about an amorphic duck.. 🤣🤣

The Captain America serial (1944) was a theatrical release. As serial is neither a short nor a TV series.
