0:30 Roth, you keep fighting the good fight for Paddington. Both the first and second are among the best family movies I've ever seen. (Not "kid's" movies, but "family". EVERYONE can enjoy Paddington!!)

A solo Black Widow movie? Nah. A origin story? Nah. A Black Widow lead movie where she glues into action a group of street level heroes that haven't met yet? Sure! For example a Mission Impossible with Black Widow + Ant Man + Daredevil + Quake as a prequel to Secret Wars would be nice.

if they had announced a black widow movie a couple years ago i would have been very excited, but by now i've pretty much lost all interest. i dunno, i feel like we've maybe spent too much time with the original mcu avengers by now. i'm much more interested in the newer characters. the one thing that could get me on board with a black widow movie is if marvel hired a female director. that'd be really cool.

    • @sirmoonslosthismind
      @sirmoonslosthismind 6 лет назад

famously, patty jenkins went to marvel before she went to dc. she wanted to make thor: the dark world. kevin feige didn't like her ideas and sent her away. marvel has a man/woman team directing captain marvel, but there's still no sign of any female directors working solo in the mcu.

    • @sirmoonslosthismind
      @sirmoonslosthismind 6 лет назад +1

      +Mie R
i liked thor 2 well enough, but a lot of people seem to think it was a really weak entry for the mcu. we can't say though whether jenkins's approach would have worked better.
i trust kevin feige not to make terrible movies, unlike some comic book studios. however, that doesn't mean that every decision he makes is the best one.

    • @pinkflare13

sirmoonslosthismind Having Dark World focus on the Thor/Jane romance instead of the Aether would've fucked with Fiege's grand narrative.

David Hayter who wrote X2 and also played Solid Snake wrote a screenplay for a Black Widow movie ages ago, so I can't detach the Metal Gear Solid aspect out of my brain when talking about this movie. I just see Scarlett Johansson like crawling in a blizzard and speaking to Nick Fury over codec in a gravelly voice and I WANT IT

So Gambit isn't interesting enough for a movie, but Black Widow is? We've seen everything we need to know about her story, used to be bad, now is good. Scarjo won't be able to carry the movie, I'd be more interested in a Scarlett Witch or Valkyrie movie than Black Widow.

With regards to Movie Pass and I, Tonya...they aren't just advertising for it. I went to see I, Tonya using Movie Pass and they sent me a marketing survey afterwards. Mostly the usual questions you would expect...what influenced your decision to see this film, what advertising did you see for it, what other movies have you seen. I wouldn't ordinarily fill a form like that out, but I'm all for helping Movie Pass build a sustainable business model, at this point. So, I sent it back.

    A funny story about a friend I knew with a 3D tv....
We were having a Rocky Horror cast party at someone's house because they had a new 60 inch 4k 3D TV that he paid thousands for. A lot of people were late so we just started the movie and what people were there immediately commented on terrible soap opera motion blur, and it's overall poor picture. He got upset, told us how expensive and impressive it is, assured us that Avatar looks amazing on it (I guess at the expense of an average movie looking like shit). But none of us were convinced that the TV was worth his money and we all thought he was a fool for going 3D.
As people started to arrive, every single person said something about how bad the TV was.
"Why does it look like a British show?"
    "What's wrong with your TV?"
"I thought you had a brand new TV?"
and the best comment of them all....
"Oh, are we watching a version downloaded from RUclips or something?"
I realize that non-3D 4k TVs generally also look terrible when watching movies, but the mention of a 3D tv reminded me of this. Soooooooooooooo glad I was able to find a TV that can actually look like a movie. 4K motion blur is snake oil.

Re VR - Agree w Billy, think it'll be D-Box style select experiences and theme parks, AR mostly. You'll wear a big lightweight transparent welding mask, and scene elements will creep over the ceiling and into the theatre, simple & select dimensional effects. At least until Disney builds a VR theatre and sends us all into space. That'll be rad!

I think VR could be alright in certain movies if it's just used for parts of the movie. Kinda how 3D has certain parts of the movie especially tailored for 3D that jump out of the screen, perhaps a movie could be for the most part still directed perhaps with limited range of movement (so not 360degrees perhaps but with an ability to expand your field of vision to 'wider screen' when you move your head) and then have full VR scenes tailor made throughout. It would still be very niche though but could lead to some interesting movies finding clever ways to use the tech.

I think, what could be a decent storyline too for a black widow movie if not for an origin. is one that has to deal with the aftermath of some of the potential deaths of the avengers after infinity war and how it affects her and SHIELD organization, and what she has to do to save the world without powers or help. idk, could show some depth for that character as well.

I'm not specially excited about VR, but that could change with content.
When TVs first showed up, they offered something different. Color TVs also represented a huge leap. But 3D just doesn't improve the experience a lot. 15min into the movie you already forgot about it and they have to throw stuff at your face to remind you why you paid extra.
I think it's the same with VR right now. It needs to change a lot, but most importantly, it needs to find its place. Where can it be used best.

People have literally been touting VR as the next big thing since the late '80s. Every time they roll it out, the public has rejected it as costly and uncomfortable.
The problem with a VR "movie" is that the filmmaking is supposed to direct you towards the plot relevant action. If you can look around at the irrelevant stuff in the scene, you are going to miss the good bits. It would only really useful in an open world video game.

I'm not interested in a Black Widow film, but understand that there are those who might be interested. I don't know that a Black Widow film will be of interest to the masses. I've seen Johansson in several films, apart from Marvel, and haven't been that impresses with her. If they had done a stand alone film for her a few years back, I might have different feelings about it. I think they will be going backward by doing a Black Widow film now. And again, I'm not impressed with her acting and her carrying a film. Black Widow fits in well with an ensemble.. If she needs to be propped up with Captain American or others in her first solo venture, what's the point.

    • @sumasian55

I have an idea of making Black widow movie more interesting and potentially being a box-office hit, but this is just my opinion on what they should do with the movie if they do decide to make it. Here it is:
      BLACK WIDOW: CODE RED
The universe was pulled from the brink of ultimate defeat post Avengers 4, but on Earth Natasha Romanov is still a wanted woman. They could also add Thaddeus Ross and his UN task force to have a new target: his old obsession Bruce Banner, which also adds to the Hulk story arc too, since Hulk can't have his own movie, and also expand on the Hulk-Black Widow relationship which we've seen in the first two avengers movie. You can have Black Widow, the Hulk, and Nick Fury fending for their lives in the jungles of South America, and discover what the Red Protocol is. VILLAINS introduced could be RED HULK (a very popular HULK villain in the comics), THE LEADER (maybe the main villain), and either TASKMASTER or YELENA BOLOVA (BLACK WIDOW vs TASKMASTER would be dope as fuck and a good way to introduce him into MCU, but YELENA BOLOVA vs BLACK WIDOW would be awesome as well since she is a classic adversary of black widow). Add some hawkeye, bucky in the movie to really flesh out the character of Black Widow by exploring their shared pasts together with the Red Room and really explain what happened in Budapest. Heck, maybe throw in Wolverine too, but not really necessary.

I would hope, given it will be after IF and most likely Avengers 4 it will be a prequel...hopefully we'll get to see some Red Room or maybe even BUDAPEST WITH HAWKEYE! FYI taking it back in time will be just like this upcoming Captain Marvel movie which will be set in the 90s with Nick Fury. I would have wanted a Black Widow and Hawkeye movie back when they introduced the throw away line about Budapest in the first Avengers movie. That was..what? Five or six years ago now? Maybe more? I wanted to know what happened to them and then before that how they met. That would have been a great movie back then. However, there's no story there. One would have to be invented. It's like "The Kessel Run" for Han Solo in the Star Wars franchise. That was just a throw away line. There never were plans to tell that story, but now all Han Solo fans want to see that. And we're about to, and it's gonna suck.
The sad truth is too much time has elapsed. You can't go back in time and tell the story of Budapest. Johanssen and Renner are too old to play their young counterparts, and if you recast no one will care. It's gotta be Johanssen and Renner, or there's no point in going back. We also know both of the characters have since moved on. Perhaps when they first met sparks flew and they fell in love but now Clint Barton's happily married. Natasha has a thing for Banner. It'd just be really weird now if we went back in time to tell that story.
So instead, a Black Widow movie would have to be about where she is now in the middle of the MCU, and I just don't see how that's remotely interesting unless you team her up with the other characters. I want to see her in Black Panther. She'd be fun in the next Doctor Strange film. Like The Hulk, Black Widow is more powerful as a foil for other big brand names in the MCU franchise. She started in the comics as a one off villain. I don't recall her ever having a successful solo comic book title. My favorite stuff growing up reading about her in the comics was her teaming up with Daredevil or Spider-Man. it's a shame Charlie Cox can't be moved from Netflix to the big screen, and Johanssen would never slum it in the tv series. but I bet those two actors would chew up scenery well together.
Since then, Agent Carter happened. And especially during season two, anything I needed from a Black Widow movie I got from the Agent Carter tv series. I would have wished they'd continued with Agent Carter cuz it was as if that series had been written especially for me. It failed cuz it was a little geeky and tongue in cheek and weird. Most people were not going to get it. And if they'd done a Black Widow film instead of the Agent Carter tv series I'm concerned that the film woulda been less fun and more dark and I think everything worked out well. I'm good. Yeah five years ago I was pissed off when it looked like the Black Widow movie was gonna fall through but you know what? I'm good. For me it worked out great. I'm even happy with where Agents of SHIELD is going overall. I've had my criticisms over the years with how this tranwreck of a franchise has been barrelling down its tracks but looking back it's been a hell of a ride.
After Infinity War, I'm concerned that the use of the Infinity Gauntlet in the story line might tempt Feige to reboot the MCU, so who knows what a Black Widow movie will even look like now. If it turns out to be fun that's okay, but if it falls through, I'm not gonna lose any sleep.

Did they talk about the New Mutants movie being pushed till feb 2019 in another video?I am so curious to see what they have to say about that. It´s a whole year it´s been pushed back, and we have a trailer for it already, or a teaser, but still. We don´t have that for Solo and that´s coming out in a few months. And also now Deadpool 2 has been moved up to a before Solo release date! Cray cray!

Well, it's not always about a need to explore more, but whether people would like that, whether it'd be successful and they have the right people for it.
But, yeah, them being a woman shouldn't be THE reason to not do it. If anything, ScarJo has proven successful enough, the Russos good enough with the spy/espionage genre and Black Widow established enough there's more reason to do it.
Also, I agree with Spencer - having some hot food in theater's lovely. We don't have that where I am.

actually instead of an origin story for black widow i'd b more interested to watch a movie about how c's handling her adjustment to her role in the world now, after 'winter soldier' when all her background is on the internet, when everyone knows who c is on sight. the adjustment from superspy that sheds identities like snake skin and infiltrates and presents a different image according to what's required in the situation to very visible superhero must have been jarring to say the least...as well as the change in mission profiles, esp after shield's collapse.from an agent that follows orders and works to the shadows to a public figure that has to operate in the spotlight and has to be responsible themselves for what 'mission' they choose to follow... and then the tables flip again after civil war. what even IS her 'job' right now? what does c identify herself as? now that i would find interesting...

I think for the point of her story, a Black Widow movie is to little to late to come out now that the masses are getting to a point of superhero fatigue. Even if its a grounded down to earth spy movie, it holding a "superhero" name will put a lot of people off of it. This movie if it were to come out, should have come out along with Winter soldier, (as a minimovie or TV show that came out alongside it). If having a female superhero movie is such a big deal theyll only make one, there are so many others I would rather see then black widow...

Black Widow is probably not gonna cost that much like the other marvel movies. Im guessing from 80 to a 100 million ? And would gross upto a 100 or 300 million. If so? In terms of numbers still wont be a flop

I feel like Black Widow has missed it's window for a solo movie. Should have happened after the first Avengers movie. Could have been the new Spy franchise now Bond is played out.

I don't think VR will even touch the theater market. Where you will see change will be in live stream casting, real estate, sadly enough porn will take a huge chunk and maybe even VR dating. Theater experience isn't really even a viable avenue, people go to see movies and that's it. Nobody wants to take the time to stand in line and give their car keys or id's to check out a headset. And would have to include a trained employee(s) to give a 15 min walk thru including a is your seat belt on like on a theme park ride? And imagine the price. And you would need a viable amount of time given for the viewer to look around and if there's nothing to look at or even interact with then it's a total waste.
Personally I think VR is a very private experience. That way you can fall face first into your TV for whatever reason or stare at a womans or man's armpit without having someone say wtf are you looking at situation.
In my experience so far I've really enjoyed the live stream aspect. I've stood in a 360° haunted insane asylum (which I'll get into in a hot second), I've really enjoyed anything RedBull extreme has done and actually think that is one avenue that RedBull may corner. Everythjng from anything caught while helmet camd. Snowboarding, race drifting, air rally races you name it.
Now in regards to the 360° ghost hunters experience, I just love me some of that and then seconds of some of that, then some more. What really trips me out and especially with the rewatchable aspect is just the nuts and bolts of that whole 360° basic concept. I can't seem to get my mind around how this crap works and is stored. I mean I'm able to login to this person's stream after their done and have gone to bed and I'm able to look anywhere as far as the camera can see. Isn't that a huge chunk of storage? Or am I just trippin? Lol

Don't really want one. She's fairly bland in PG13 land and the only way to made it decent would be to make it an R rating which Disney isn't doing.
