- People from across the world traveled to Exmouth, Australia, to observe the rare celestial event, which lasted for 62 seconds. #CNN #News #shorts
For anyone confused, a hybrid solar eclipse is called a hybrid because it combines two types of eclipse: a total solar eclipse, and an annular solar eclipse. A total solar eclipse happens when the moon is big enough and positioned correctly to cover the entire sun, while an annular eclipse is when the moon is still aligned but too small to cover the sun, so a ring of sunlight can still be seen. You can't see both the annular and total solar eclipse from the same spot, but different parts of the Earth are different distances from the moon, so the moon appears bigger in some places than others. A hybrid solar eclipse means we have a annular solar eclipse in some parts of the Earth and a total solar eclipse in others.
And here I thought "total eclipse of the heart" was just being wordy

Thank you for your information this is amazing ☺️👍💯
Thank you. I was wondering about “hybrid”.
Equatorial regions are closer?
Be like Trump and look into it with no eye protection whatsoever
Truly one of my favorite moments of his presidency😂 his wife had to tell him no, dumbass!!!
Pink glasses knows where the party’s at.
I like the way the guy in pink glasses described it!
I feel the same way about bacon lettuce and tomato sandwiches.
Was the criminal from Florida there to look straight at it again😂😁
It was the highlight of his presidency, and a shining example of his intellect
We had one in oregon a veiw years back it was some incredible experience. You actually seen Lightwave. It was a once in a lifetime experience. The i5 from the rest area to Salem, Oregon was packed. The lights went out and it was electric
I saw a total eclipse a few years ago. The reaction was totally unanticipated. People were actually crying from the overwhelming sense of awe we experienced! I’ve never felt that way before or since!
Absolutely incredible I wish I could’ve been there in person
I'm in Perth Western Australia where we got a partial eclipse. Exmouth where they gathered for the total eclipse is 1200 km north of us. We looked at the local partial eclipse using a pinhole camera then watched the totality via the internet.
Absolutely beautiful especially up north in Western Australia. Such as beautiful and spectacular event. Xxx
I did the eclipse on the west coast of Oregon for years ago I was two miles south of center center
I was directly at the center and drove 1000 mi to get there
The hippy really didn't want anyone to escape his obviousness.

Did this happen APRIL 20 th this year ???
Yup, (off the far western end of Australia).
Racoon Little bear Thank you
That explains the dude with pink glasses.

You're welcome😎🌖
I saw this in Kentucky in 2017. Not the same one of course, but I don’t see any striking difference. It’s still amazing and truly stellar to see though.
I think CNN forgot to explain why this is a hybrid eclipse. It’s because it’s a total eclipse for some and an annular eclipse for others.
Fox News promptly denied that this ever happened.
Lucky Aussie 😊
Literally viewing the dark side of the moon
False. Only one side of the moon always faces Earth, and it is not the dark side
@@DCBJ2011 At the time, the side of the moon facing away from the sun (dark) was the side facing toward the earth. Not the commonly referred to dark side, but the literal dark side. Of course the literal dark side faces the earth every month.
@@madcow3417 Wait, wha??! The moon is tidally locked! The same side, as mentioned, is always the side we see, IE facing the earth. What did I miss with the acquiescence of your detractor?
I've had to missed some nuance...
Even when in shadow, the same side of the moon faces the earth...
@@rmg03c you didn't miss a nuance, you just took the words "dark side" not literally enough. Looking at it from the perspective of you being the earth, and you're always looking right at the figurative light side of the moon. Sometimes the sun is behind you, lighting up that figurative light side. Sometimes the sun is in front of you and behind the moon, leaving the figurative light side in a shadow, making it a literal dark side. Sometimes the sun is between you and the moon and we're all vaporized because the sun is larger than the earth-moon gap. I may have gone off on a tangent....
Oregon 2017 total solar that doesn't count. 4 minutes of totality
Welll I live in Australia and it was crazy many people with special glasses get to see the lovely solar esclipe but it happened in wa
Pink 😎 made 6 pm news here in Perth Western Australia. The interviews were a blend of super nerds and super hippies 😄
Do you have a link?
We were there!!! It was amazing…. Next one in Australia will be in 2028… we will be there to!
Whatever about the astounding astronomical probability of life occurring on Earth, we also have maybe not equally but near astounding probability of having a moon 300 times smaller yet 300 times closer to the planet. Having both just shows how special our home is.
and how ignorant the sheeples are
i saw the partial solar eclipse in college in 2017 lol its cool how timing works
So you can see in the ancient world…how they would have seen events like these as a portent of doom and how grifters could use it to grift them. Moses did!
Last time I saw one was in 1984 in ROTC class outside at practice. But I must say it's AMAZING, GOD'S WAY OF DOING THIS !! OUR CREATOR. Only one comment about that 😢😢smh
So a hybrid eclipse is just a solar eclipse...? I mean it's beautiful, but idk what's with the name lol
It looks like a total solar eclipse from some parts of the Earth closer to the Moon, but like an annular (ring shaped) eclipse from parts of the Earth farther from the Moon.
I saw one and it was like the twilight zone
That was George Peppard
West Australia
Magical.. Seen it a while back hoping to see again soon
Perfect timing
9 out of 10 doctors say go look at the sun...
Firebenders greatest fear. . . .
Awesome.
Nice!
Pffft. The American sees some kind of meaning in it. The Australian sees it as a light going on the off. Only a yank could see something that isn't there. Just enjoy it for what it is.
Wow , CNN reported something true for a change ! Interesting.
AMAZING ,Did this cover Russia?
Who remembers when trump stared at the eclipse?
It happens every ten years , it isn’t rare .
Griiiiiiffith
I moved a thousand miles to see the solar eclipse in the United States in 2017
I love it
People st my svhool told me that i and i stayed up all night 😂
And im in England
Good luck flows. Amen🙏
👋👋👋
Funny we unite, celebrate and worship creations, rather than The Creator, The Almighty God, The Lord Jesus Christ
Obey God today and always and leave the consequences to Him
Amen Amen
Actually, the Moon and the Sun were created by the Great Green Arkleseizure. Give the credit to the correct being, thank you.
In our islamic religion: we must pray to our GOD in every-time when this phenomena had occurred
But if u pray, then u will miss this phenomena, it doesn’t happen always.
@@ilyasmusa4196 No thing is important than obeying the orders of our GOD

Thank you CNN ❤️ 😍 💖.
Go under Derek Bagley and they should be a video on RUclips of taking myself in depoe Bay
Why the crackpot ?
More powerful than anything blah blah...Have you ever taken a laxative and gone clubbing???
I'm not a conspiracy goon, nor am I a druid or a flat earther or even a astrology consuming ufo fanatic. But I still understand why some people find the size od the moon, the sun, and our distance from them a little too perfect to be an accident. That solar eclipses are a sign. It's nonsense, but I get the viewpoint. Btw, we had a total eclipse here a couple years back on an overcast day. It wasn't ruined. The haze was such as to allow us to look straight at it without risking anything. That was trippy.
Fantastic
