Avatar: The Last Airbender and its sequel series, The Legend of Korra, has given us a great look at some amazing bending styles of the years. Besides the primary Earth, Air, Water and Fire elements that people could use to their advantage, there were subsets to each main element that made bending even more powerful. And none are as strong as the dreaded bloodbending.
There are a lot of great subsets of bending like lavabending, lightning bending, and even metalbending, but we feel bloodbending is by far the most powerful. Not just because it can stop any foe in their tracks instantly without them being able to defend themselves, but also because it’s a subset that seems to be continuing to evolve to reach new heights. Think back to when we first saw bloodbending in Avatar. It was thanks to that creepy Hama, who taught Katara that strong waterbenders could bloodbend on a full moon. But of course, over the years that changed and when Aang was an adult, he faced the crime-lord Yakone who could not only bloodbend anytime he wanted, but also could do it without moving his hands. And it was a trait he passed down to his sons. It’s that sort of evolution and constant growth in the time between the two Avatar series that really makes bloodbending the most OP bending style.
So take a look at today’s video all about the bloodbending technique and why we think it’s the most powerful bending style. After you’re done, be sure to tell us in the comments if you agree or if there’s another bending style you think is more powerful! While you’re there, be sure to hit that like and subscribe button for more awesome Avatar content like this. Thanks for watching CBR! Let’s get started.

Can bloodbenders freeze a person’s blood? Blood is 90% water. Waterbenders can icebend. Bloodbenders are waterbenders. So I guess they can freeze blood?
Yes they can
Yup in the kyoshi novel they elaborate on it
I see. Thanks for the clarification.
Could they pee bend?
The blood I feel like would be to warm to freeze
If avatar wasn't marketed to kids, I bet bloodbenders would force the blood out of people.
Michael Ledford very true they will just rip out the blood out of their body
Migi Parasyte and kill them
I think the anime Deadman Wonderland would come to be similar.
Yes
I am the most powerful parasyte from that anime Parasyte
I think air bending would be more broken if the air nomads weren't pacifists. They could bend the air inside an opponents body and instantly kill them
wow big brain :O
Honestly, I think all the styles could achieve an equal level of lethality thanks to the pandora's box blood bending opened (lightning being used poorly). Air, earth, and water are all present in the human body. Bend the respective element to damage the brain and your opponent is toast.
Lightning I put on par with blood because it honestly should be effectively instantaneous in transmission and leads to complete loss of muscle control.
All bender battles would be decided in the first second.
@@shaunthorsted7293 Once again, I don't know how many times I need to repeat this. No dirt in human body. Probably very tiny amount in the stomach, but that' not enough to be bent. Lightning requires the separation of chi's or whatever, it takes time to prepare, so bloodbending wins. Same with lung air bending, it takes time to focus and force air out. Bloodbending still wins.
the metal bender can make people like a puppet by iron instead of body
just like magneto
@@shaunthorsted7293 when lightning benders realize this theyll be back on top and they could even mess with their own heart to give the blood bender a harder time
Zuko's reaction when katara blood bends still gets me 😂😂
He was like: I changed teams just in time🥴
Sharingan
I wish he brought it up to her and asked questions
@@derkokos1288 He's thinking the next episode when Iroh tells him to take a friend to fight Azula: "KATARA! DEFINITELY KATARA!"
he had a flash back of her saying she would make sure he doesn't have to "worry about his future" if he does something against aang lmao
Water in avatar can heal, can solidify as ice, can cut rocks, can become limbs, can draw moisture from air/plants, can control plants using water. Its literally a weapon, a healing Item, and a shield. And it can even block the flow of blood to stop benders' abilities
Water is OP
Got a love some waterbending
I still prefer earth. It can:
Earthbend normally;
Sandbend;
Mudbend(water benders can do it to, but... whatever);
Metalbend;
Lavabend;
They can probably bend glass since it's just hot sand;
They can meteor bend;
And for defense it can make armor our of any bending material i mentioned. Also, a debuff in healing with water bending is that only females can learn healing. Maybe the male benders could do it but they were obligated to fight, so they didn't develop it, them lost it, and it became a biology thing, or the spirits are just being picky. I would prefer to be a earth bender in aang's era, as he said in the video, everything is rock, but everything is metal in TLOK
@@SolidSnakeFromMetalGear But we see metal bending being taught in TLOK, so that isn't too bad. Also, there are male bender like Unalaq who was able to heal spirits
Only one person was able to remove bending, so I wouldn't say that as a general skill, also we have seen Aang blood bend technically since that is the only thing that can break the hold of a blood bender as far as we know
*BLOODBENDING* is pretty deadly but it has nothing on *BOOMERAANGBENDING*
Niceee
lol
Shit bending, I throw shot in people’s throats and make them have crap illness.. (forgot how to spell the illness what gives you the fiery shit.)

Air bending: Being able to expand someone lungs and kill them instantly without much effort
Forgot to mention that's not canon
@@godoffire420yearsago it's possible because Airbenders can pull out someone's oxygen inside his/her lungs. If they can pull maybe they can push.
@@theartofmusic714 yes it's possible but it requires the victim to be unconscious or defenseless. Just like how Zaheer killed the earth queen in a long and slow process.

What about when Zaheer took someone's breath with air bending. That should have also been on the deadly bending list
It takes forever, the earth queen was only killed because she was defenseless and almost killed Korra after she was poisoned, beaten to a pulp, and knocked unconscious. Because it took so long, the Airbender were able to stop him. It's a really weak way to kill
@@person3271 it's still a deadly move, even you say that the earthqueen was defenseless or Korra was poisoned.
@@theartofmusic714 my point is that there are worse moves, literally any earthbending move is more powerful.

You have no soul then.
I don’t why but I can handle the blood from leg, fingers or other parts of body by I can’t handle the blood from eyes it looks very terrifying for me
Idk
So are we not talking about how lightning benders could lightningbend extremely fast in korra and the fact that azula could spam lightning in the comics
Kiyoshi was hit by it once. She was lucky to be alive. Saved by her armor.
Well only like 3 main characters shoot lightning That fast but I get what you mean
i want to see how will be in the next comic of azula, she is a prodigy after all
*Air pressurebending* would be the lethal version of airbending. Imagine an airbender pressurizing air inside your lungs into a contained air bomb, let’s it go and pops/explodes inside you. Instant death.
Zaheer already showed a lethal version of airbending..
@@HeadGodoftheGodCouncil yes i know what Zaheer did. but he didn’t kill the earth queen in the way i explained “air pressurebending” by creating extremely compressed air (an “air bomb,” if u will) inside someone’s lungs and releasing it for it to suddenly expand and explode.
What Zaheer did was creating a vacuum (removing the air) inside the earth queen’s lungs-which was also deadly. Although I would argue that Zaheer’s lethal way takes a lot more time to do and the victim doesn’t die right away. With the compressed air bomb i was thinking, it’s quick. it suddenly explodes inside someone’s lungs and the victim is shattered in several chunks of human flesh and bones. or maybe the explosion is so strong the victim explodes into a “pink mist.” Literally instant death.
Well that would explain why I can hold off an entire SHIP of fire benders
@@Darkshadow-fi3hz haha. This is just make-believe though. it’s not canon. but we can imagine things. why not.
Oh sorry guys must have been in the spirit world sorry I said that
Yh blood bending is not question ...the best bending in the whole bending world that's why I like water
Same especially in Legend of Korra which progress to psychicbending?
No in my opinion air bending is the best because blood bending is extremely rare let alone the ability to naturally do it and you can’t see air the show discolored the air being blended so you could see it and think about monk gyatso he died of exhaustion not fire benders who were powered by Sozin’s comet
Two words lava bending
@@baconjimmy557 I agree. Air bending is the best especially when a master does it.
How can you bend if you are being control through blood bending?
What about using bloodbending for healing purposes? Like for example stopping blood flowing out of a lethal wound to keep someone alive until the wound can be taken care of propperly or impromptu blood-transfusion or something like that... It's a possibilitiy, if it were allowed to be taught again and under the right conditions. :)
Or even performing surgery on someone without cutting their skin. How awesome is that!! Of course, you'd have to go through years of medical training.
Genius
Cant you technically use there blood as, you know, healing water and heal there own wounds with the same blood they lost
using blood bending as a medical way is an idea i thought of from the beginning and it feels soo right
The problem with that, is that there's always a bad apple who will abuse it. Bloodbending can heal, but it can also turn people into puppets without much effort and block bending abilities. The kind of power that dominates over all other benders isn't safe no matter how you teach it, its better to bury it in history. Bloodbending is anti-bender weaponry that was literally invented to break out of a (presumably) maximum security prison
I think bloodbending could be used for medical purposes and it would be interesting to see someone actually get healed or helped by using bloodbending

Bending all of citizens

the most powerful and most rare bending style, utilized by none other than the great sokka, is BACKBENDING
What about his BOOMERANGBENDING
In korra they should've used blood bending for good. Like doctors
"Oh doc. I think I got a blood clog"
"Oh thats fine" **blood bends it way for it to be unclogged**
Or when Donating blood, blood benders can speed up the process and stuff and put it into a patient in need's body
Like in an emergency
i thought of it too
This video has been made like 3 other times but sure I'll watch it again!
Blood bending is sure as hell scary in it’s entirety, when it was introduced in the last Airbender, but it was scarier in Korra due to its sadistic nature from Yakone. These types of videos make me want to watch both shows again.
Honestly i thought as Korra lost her bending at that time in book 1, she would learn neckbending instead and snap amon's neck
Swagmaster555 hey it worked for Superman
When she was fighting Azula I was constantly thinking BLOODBEND! Azula would have been like “what the-“
bloodbending needs a full moon
Blood bending with your mind is really scary like what Amon was capable of.
Blood bending: I’m the strongest bending style in the world of avatar
Energy bending: am I a joke to you?
Only spiritual being can spirit bend like vatu rava the avatar and integer strong spirits
@@rosshauler7688 waterbenders (again) can use spirit bending to purify/corrupt spirits, so there's that
@@Netherdan true but that’s more of an extension of water bending and having to adapt living close to the spirit portals
But you cant make a person go unconscious by spirit bending them, they just get really weak. While bloodbending, you can pretty much murder someone with it and break their bones.
Fleshbending : Haha, don't flatter yourselves. You weren’t even players.
It’s not the Most deadly Water bending type, sokka style was
Great job. Thanks from a french fan !
Not only I think that you can freeze someone's blood, but you can dehydrate them as well. Or move the blood from one area of the body to another.
Remember how in FMA they tried to resurrect their mother
How many earthy components were used
With metal bending you have to feel all the earthly components to even bend it in the first place
What's to say you can't feel the components of a person like the components of metal
You could rip the iron in their blood right from them
Just random thought
But metal benders don't bend actual metal, they bend pieces of earth within the metal.
@@brunoss.3273 But didn't Korra bend the mercury out of her when she was poisoned? Or is that one of those weird in between things like lava bending?
@@elizabethosborne9059 probably, all we know about it, is that it is poisonous, metallic, and can be benders by eartherbenders. People say it's mercury but tbh I think it's more correct to say that it is a substance like mercury, I don't think they actually ever say the name of the poison.
@@brunoss.3273 One think you have to remember is that LOK changed many thing. For example In Avatar Extra release by Nickleodean when ATLA just only reached Book 2, Lavabending was an Avatar technique used by combining both Firebender and Earthbender and i don't think the ATLA creator plan to make Bloodbender to be usable outside of full moon with the bender doesn't need to move hand. So in LOK it is possible. I mean Airbender was able to use Spiritual projection and how is that connected to Airbender ? Why not exploited the Soundbender ?
@@mohdghazali3473 lavabending makes sense to be earthbending. Waterbenders are able to freeze and evaporate water, makes sense for earthbenders to do the same, but since temperatures are so much higher it makes sense to be a rare skill. Just because the only one seen using the skill is an avatar doesn't mean its a skill that only the avatar can use. And if you see the episode where the explain that only powerful waterbenders that spends years practice can bloodbend can do it without the full moon. To say that they could only use it with the full moon is a bit dumb. The only reason why they needed the moon was for the extra power up, but if they had talent, power, and practiced hard enough they could accomplish it. It literally says it on the show.
You just want us to ignore the fact that Zuko was in the Avatar State at the beginning? 😅🙈
I always thought water bending is by FAR the most powerful, even without sub types like blood bending. One water bender should have been easily take on an entire army by the water in someone's eyes - either rip out the eyes entirely or expand it inside the eye socket causing heads to explode. This is even before considering other uses (healing, creating shelter, creating barrier, mobility, creating stabbing / mobile daggers, trapping / immobilising, stealth, replacing limbs, pulling water out of the air to survive from thirst / growing plants in middle of desert, break down doors, unlock doors).
Why are avatar fans so damn smart
you could air bend with blood bending since air is 30% water which is like even harder than blood bending
Not gonna lie, when I first started watching I was like “man why don’t water benders just bend people’s blood? Like what the heck they could have saved Yu!” And then after the episode where they did it, I was like oohhhhh that’s why. But as a lil history nerd it’s still interesting that they didn’t use it considering during what you will take any means to win as scene as seen in the library episode. Tbh I think the only reason it wasn’t used was because Ang.
People seem to forget
That with bloodbending
If your waterbending skills are better than a certain blood bender they loose their grip on you
That’s the only way to beat it
Look at among and tarlok when they faced each other
Then you still used blood bending
A metal bender could potentially clump up all the iron in you blood.. or just rip it out of you ?
A fire bender could boil the blood in your body..
They only took water bending this far because of the creepy factor of blood and puppets..
This is true. We actually saw this with Katara when Hama was Bloodbending her. I guess you could also count Aang's Avatar State too since it's what he used to break free from Yakone's grip before he took his bending away.
@@ManaWeindel85 why are you alll focusing on bending things IN a persons body? you all seem to orget how op lava is. if you make lava under someones feet, there is literally nothing they can do. they will melt before even concentrating enough to bend
@@user-yn4eg8re9r That's a good point, but i guess for the challenge ?
CBR: "Bloodbending is OP"
OG ATLA fans: "Interesting"

@@okko2787 , remember metal bending was rare too, but toph taught everyone that its now a norm
Great vid
Also if you move the blood fast enough, you can create friction and heat up the blood. Or cause it to clot, or thin it.
“There is no way to stop bloodbending.”
Me: you can stop it, surviving it is the problem
well, if you make the person melt in 2 secs by, lets say, making lava under them, they will melt before they can even move their arm a substantial amount
@@user-yn4eg8re9r but it depends on who does the attack first cuz if it started you would focus on surviving the blood bending attack rather than attacking the blood bender since they cant even do that
When someone puts their hand close to my forehead I hide
Bro u also watch Naruto as ur logo is a photo of itachici
I think boomerangbending is way stronger then any bending could ever be
As shown by Aang, air can be used as a blade with bending. Water bending can obviously as the video states bend blood and also pull its own power from nowhere, removing the main weakness in most of the show. Earth can be formed into little millimetre-thin needles so thin that you could get hit by millions from a single rock and bleed out very fast, the same with metal bending however maybe more dangerous with one of the many toxic metals there are. Fire can be used to burn someone out from the inside out or give them severe heatstroke.
Apparently blood bending can be used as a form of energy bending or can take away someone’s bending
Not exactly, personally I think that Amon was simply blocking the chi paths, which prevented others from bending.
@@brunoss.3273 So does it mean that their bending is still there but blocked?
@@Alan-xe4st yeah, that is why Korra got her bending back, because Aang and the other avatars unlocked it for her, and she did the same for other people like Lin.
@@brunoss.3273 But Tarlok had stated that when Amon took his bending away, he recognized his brother's Bloodbending grip. Plus, Chi Blocking is an effect that wears off after awhile. But when Amon took someone's bending away, it was permanent and required someone else restoring them back to full potential. I guess you could say that his Chi Blocking was probably strong enough to block bending permanently, but even then, every Chi Blocker since Ty Lee has always had to hit specific parts on a bender's body to block their chi while Amon always grabbed a bender's neck from behind with one hand and pressed his thumb against their foreheads with his other, a backwards version of Aang's Energy Bending method. Perhaps what Amon's doing is one helluva combination of Bloodbending *and* Chi Blocking?
@@espythekitsune2906 i think he didn't just chi block, he probably rotated them in such a way that they wouldn't naturally unblock

Nah man I’d cry if I could blood bend :(
@Anna Plays Nope. You have to bend the rectum to crap.

It can also dope everyone up in a life or death situation in a general area
I think the next step in water evolution is using water to enhance yourself ( like with speed and/or strength ), and after that is becoming the element like the mutant on the x-men.
Can’t Aang just suffocate everyone with his airbending
Yes he can
But he is a pacifist
True
He can also disable firebending by creating a vacuum shield, and enhance his own firebending with additional oxygen. One of the perks of being the avatar is combining elements, a thing I think it should be more explored if they ever make a sequel
I mean its easy to escape that if ur a bender or a skilled fighter.. the queen was weak as hell and defensless
0:09 lol avatar zuko
There's one thing that's overlooked though. All the bloodbending in both shows was in direct contact (nothing separating them but air). So what if there's a layer of metal around you covering everything or you tunnel under them and shoot up a rock at them? That's in my opinion how you counter bloodbenders.
The thing is, bloodbending, while devestatingly powerful needs the bender to be in close range to his/her target. At most it seems to be only used in a 8-ish meter radius, some users moving closer before using bloodbending when they technically wouldn't need to unless they had to. Considering most regular bending has MUCH longer range a bloodbender is essentially useless unless they can get close enough to use it. And most benders have ways of keeping threats at bay. The reason for the shorter range might be the result of blood not being pure water on top of being contained by a body AND requiring a power-up from the full moon in the first place.
Well if bloodbending can evolve at such a crazy rate one can only imagine how devastating spirit bending can prove to be after it goes through some evolution, after all it is the art of bending one's life energy which I think makes it the most powerful bending style.
So in a sense, everyone is a bender, normal people just can't learn it without any training
@@krimson8089 Well as far as i've seen Aang is the only one who is able to Energy bend (Spirit Bend), that is how *Spoiler* he took away the fire lord Ozai's bending in the end. This video will explain it better than I can: ruclips.net/video/L5R-NIgrjKA/видео.html

Avatar the last airbender is the most amazing cartoon ever I love this blood bending is so cool thank you cbr 😄
You know how serious it was when Zuko saw Katara bloodbend the man. Oh how I wish they bloodbended Azula or Ozai.
I’m just commenting to say to my friend Katherine that I subbed your favorite channel!!! (Basically this channel)
We are actually kind of lucky that bloodbending is only restricted to blood marionette and not full-on blood manipulation much like how waterbenders can freely manipulate water or any bender can manipulate their element
Now that I think about it katara could have saved them so many times.
I would LOVE to see a show about an evil Avatar who controls everyone like robots with bloodbending, to show that sometimes giving one person too much power can lead to dangerous consequences
I wonder if bloodbending could be used medicinally. You could prevent someone from bleeding out while someone else healed their wounds, or make less life-threatening injures scab over instantly. You could even potentially extract blockages and certain venoms (or injected poisons) by collecting them in a pocket of blood and pulling that through a small incision. Heck, you could even use bending to preform blood transfusions. I think it's equally capable of doing good and harm, just like any other from of bending it depends on who's wielding it.
The best styles of bending from weakest to strongest are fire, tie for earth and water, then air
So water bending got an upgrade (blood bending), air bending got an upgrade (flying) and earth bending got TWO upgrades (metal and lava bending) but fire bending didn’t really get an upgrade. they only had lightning but no one in the series discovered it. If there will be a 3rd series, I hope fire bending will get an upgrade. I have no idea what it would be tho 🤔
Fire has 2 upgrades. Combustion and lightning.
You can make ice smooth enough to mimic a mirror and redirect or deflect the combustion people, and if that doesn't work, you can create a wall of ice right in front of them ( i.e. create mist and freeze it ).
I remember watching this when it came out and my friends and siblings all choose which element during the first episode I choose water. I was the only one. And as soon as the Hama episode came on not just blood bending but pulling it out of air and all everyone wanted to be a water bender I was pissed lol! I got over it. Now earth got metal and lava still I choose water
For some reason when I watched this a question popped into my head. Who would win, a bloodbender or a Jedi?
Jedi
There is actually metal in the human
Body aswell so it is possible
for metal benders to blood bend
You cannot speculate a bending style that we’ve never seen In the show. Yes we do but until it actually shown it didn’t exist
airbenders: imma jus' take yo breath b
Bloodbending is lethal and more overpowered

Since we’re talking about bloodbending:
We all know there could be possible two avatars in the future where one is in guidance of ravaa while the other is in vatuu’s.
Ravaa’s human incarnations can bend all elements while Vatuu’s would probably only bend water.
Dark avatar could be that type of avatar you’re pertaining to 😳
actually when uunalock(i think thats how you say it) died they he was kind of in the avatar state so we can call the cycle over
A bloodbender can bloodbend someone only if they see him/her, so an earthbender can just build like a box into the earth, then feel bloodbender's weight and imobilize him/her
i like the art in 7:00 where can i get that for desktop wallpaper ? :>
How can someone fight against a Bloodbender? Could someone who doesn't have blood fight back against a Bloodbender?
Robots, who know maybe next avatar is set in cyberpunk times hahah
Yes combustion benders they can use their superior range and because they shoot explosions from their forehead unless a bloodbenders turned them around, a combustion bender could inflict serious damage

anyone wish katara was younger and became the most powerful water bender in history, and saved everyone... just me?
Can you make a video where you explain how Azula’s fire is blue when she firebend’s?
I've seen stuff saying that airbenders became monks/ developed respect for life BECAUSE it was such a dangerous ability to weild. (I saw other comments mentioning airbending, so I figured I'd share.)
Imagine if the scout in "Attack on Titan"
Are metal Benders it would be awesome since they were shooting metal off their waist pad
Levi: I would be the strongest swordsman 🤣
Ok so we all know that the different variations of the elements are really op, but we only see the elements being used by benders that only use that variation and are not the avatar and if the avatar uses them it is mostly not at the same level the other benders have, imagine if the avatar mastered the four elements to the point of being able to use all the variations to the level of the original users and evolved them all at once by using the avatar state to use the knowledge and power of past avatars to know about how the elements truly act and then improve upon every single technique and not only that but for the avatar to use all the techniques and combine them with other elements, only I have seen an avatar use one of the techniques at a time but not combine techniques to come up with strategies and uses only the avatar is capable of due to them being the master of all for elements... imagine the power of the avatar... the real power, not the one shown cause avatars tend to limit themselves subconsciously due to their job as avatars and don’t usually try to get creative like the stand alone benders have to because they only have one element to bend while the avatar always has at least... they actually have all elements at their disposal at all times... so why only use one technique of one element at a time when you can use all of them at once to defeat your opponent... and for those who will tell me that bending is difficult, let me say that the avatars can become master benders when ever they want because of the avatar state giving them the power experience and knowledge of previous avatars and the next avatar always has exponentially more power and experience than the last one in base and even more in the state due to the evolution of bending and all the knowledge getting passed down from generation to generation, imagine how powerful the avatar would be if they didn’t hold back and fully explored each element’s true potential and then mixed and matched techniques from the elements to make exclusive techniques for them, and the more they do the more the potential grows because bending is always evolving, probably 50 avatars or maybe less after ang, the avatar will be capable of being basically god

Now that I think about it, waterbending itself is very intense. My favorite is stil fire but techinchally waterbenders have and infinite supply...considering the atoms needed for water are contantly in the atmosphere
Lol I like how strong blood-bending is, but it’s not the rarest to actually get.
Then what is?

Pretty sure it’s lava bending

We don’t have to worry about a blood bender avatar until the next air avatar
Don't forget you still can make ice and water statues ( which can have armor and weapons ) and have them do your bidding.
i have a question why isnt combustion bending illegal having the ability to blow things up with your mind is frickin scary imagine your in bed you fall asleep and a combustion bender out of nowhere just blows up your house i get it there has been ways to defend against blah blah blah but it is still scary if i was in the avatar world i wouldnt want that to be an option nevermind legal
FIRE BENDING IS THE STRONGEST. Ok so heard me out, most people assume that blood bending is the strongest but it is not. How do fire benders create fire? They use the chi inside their bodies and make it into fire and/or lightning. But listen up, chi is found EVERYWHERE. The definition of chi is "the vital life force energy of the Universe, present within EVERYTHING". So doesn't that mean that fire benders can bend anything they want?! I know it sound crazy, but if they can learn how to harness the chi around them, then they could potentially bend everything. I MEAN LIKE EVERYTHING! They could learn for to bend the earth. They could even learn how to "see" like Toph. They can learn to control the air. And they could possibility even BLOOD BEND! Ok, I am not saying that fire benders can be the Avatar though. Because the colder an object is the less chi it has, so they probably won't be able to bend things like ice or cold air, but still it is really cool! What do you guys think, is it possible?
When I saw this show I was like well this went from pg to m
Okay one thing that trigger me is how in the beginning of the video at 0:10 Zukos eyes are glowing as if he were in the avatar state. You can tell it’s him by his scar.
Since Katara's and Amon's bloodbending are so powerful, in a face off who'd overpower the other?
I'll bite. I'll start off with a bit of fact checking and leave room for further discussion. However, keep in mind that while I've finished ATLA, I've never finished TLOK. Therefore, if I'm wrong at any point in this, feel free to correct me.
So let's assume that in their hypothetical face off, Katara is younger and at her prime in her Waterbending skills. We, or at least I, don't know how strong she was during her adulthood, but taking her strong and amazing skills during the events of ATLA, it's safe to assume that she was one of the most powerful Waterbenders in the world as an adult along with being the best healer. Now, as stated by someone else in the comment section, we can assume that if a Waterbender's skills are good enough, they can actually break free from a Bloodbender's grip. We saw this happen with Katara when she escaped Hama's when the ability was first demonstrated to us.
However, I think it's worth mentioning that it's quite possible that Katara had only broken free not just because of her Waterbending skills, but also because she had gained more power from the full moon and combined it with her determination to stop the crazy old woman. The only other times I've ever seen someone get out of a Bloodbender's grip was when Korra had unlocked her Airbending abilities and when Aang took away Yakone's bending. A good argument for this happening is because they're the Avatar, but even an adult Aang, a fully realized Avatar, had to enter his Avatar State to break free from Yakone's Bloodbending grip while Korra had used her own determination just to be able to Airbend Amon out a window to protect Mako and put an end to the masked man's tyranny. The thing with Korra is also important here. To say she broke free isn't actually correct. I think it's more accurate to say that she had found the strength to fight back against it since we can still hear the sounds caused by Bloodbending during that scene.
@@espythekitsune2906 yeah, good point. But still didn't answer the question... I mean just like Katara overpowered Hama's bloodbending Amon overpowered Tarlock's bloodbending as well, and considering they can both bloodbending at any time who'd have the edge?
@@abetterworld96 That's why I ended my reply where it was. To open a discussion with differing viewpoints to possibly get an answer. But to give you as close to an answer as I can get, I will say this.
In Tarlok's story, it was revealed that while both brothers could Bloodbend without a full moon, Amon's was the stronger Bloodbender since he gained their father's telepathic-like Bloodbending skills. Tarlok's slightly inferior Bloodbending shows when the only effect it had on Amon was just slowing him down. But since his brother wasn't as skilled of a Bloodbender as he was, it wouldn't be entirely useful information in a hypothetical battle against. At the very least, Amon might be able to stand his ground against Katara's considerably well if she felt like she had no other choice but to use it. But the fact of the matter is that Katara despises Bloodbending. Remember, she's the reason Bloodbending is illegal in the first place. As far as I know, the last time she used it was when her and Zuko found who they thought was her mother's killer. Yes, she's a skilled Waterbender, but since we're focusing on Bloodbending, that doesn't entirely matter here.
Therefore, because Amon's Bloodbending skills were trained to the point to not require the full moon while Katara has probably never used hers since that one other time but was the first person to ever escape a Bloodbending grip without assistance, in a Bloodbending battle, it could be anyone's game. Tarlok was the only person we've seen try to Bloodbend Amon and it barely affected him, but I've already said that his skills as a Bloodbender were shown to not be as good as his brother's. Katara hates the technique altogether and would only ever use it if she feels like she has no other choice or if she's that angry, but most likely possesses the skill to at least fight back against his bending and be able to use her own Waterbending skills to break free from it via attacking Amon, thus breaking his concentration. Really, it'd probably come down to who gets the other first. This is the closest to an answer I can get for you.
@@espythekitsune2906 Now ur last point made more sense, it makes sense that Amon would have an edge over Katara, but like Katara did against Hama by breaking free despite being her very 1st time using bloodbending she could do the same to overpower Amon although it's less likely since Amon perfected it to another extent. And I think the only reason Tarlock's bloodbending is weaker than Amon's is coz Amon was really into it and was willing to go deeper as said by Tarlock but Tarlock much like Katara didn't like bloodbending and never wanted to use it therefore not practicing further, I believe if Tarlock did go deeper in bloodbending he'd also master his father's psychic bloodbending technique.
@@abetterworld96 Quite possibly. If Tarrlok had been more into Bloodbending and perfected it like Amon, their confrontation when the eldest took his bending away could've ended much differently. But I digress. Even if Katara managed to find the strength to fight back enough against Amon's Bloodbending, she most likely wouldn't be able to Waterbend as well as she does since, as you've already pointed out, his technique is on a whole other level. If we had been able to see how Katara faired against his father Yakone, we might've had a better understanding of what she could've done against Amon to some extent, just on a lower level. However, since Katara is always thinking on her feet in extreme situations, she may find a way around Amon's superior Bloodbending hindering her ability to fight back. It'd have to be quick though since her ability to Waterbend normally would be at a severe disadvantage. In my mind, her trying to bend while being Bloodbended would be the same as when Tarrlok Bloodbended Amon. Not only that, but I imagine that trying to Waterbend while under the stress of Bloodbending probably wouldn't work out for the bender. All in all, thanks to this deeper discussion, I'd say Amon would probably win a Bloodbending face off against Katara simply because she's not as experienced with it like he is and if she'd have to use Waterbending to try to outsmart him, she'd have already lost that specific face off.
If earthbenders could *bonebend* then bloodbending wouldn’t be the only dark and OP bending skill.
Bones aren't rocks
@@bluebloxbang6105 But bones are made of collagen and calcium phosphate. Calcium and phosphorus are natural minerals found on the earth. Calcium is the *5th* most common element on the earth’s crust.
Phosphorus is the 11th most abundant element on earth. Phosphorus is found commonly in sedimentary rocks. Phosphorous can also be found in plants, humans, animals, and the soil.
So, perhaps, a high-level, and i mean an exceptionally rare skilled master earthbender, should be able to *bonebend.*
@@froeloe its mostly made out of collagen thats a protein not rock
@@bluebloxbang6105 of course earthbenders won’t bend the collagen-because it’s not rock, or earth. bonebenders would have to bend the minerals in bones. collagen is 33% of bone composition, while calcium is 39% and phosphates (phosphorus) at 17%. there’s also some amounts of carbon, potassium, magnesium and sodium-all of which are earth minerals. So, there’s enough bendables for skilled earthbenders to be able to bonebend.
Yes, I think bonebending would be a good rival for bloodbending as an OP deadly skill. bones have abundant minerals enough that exceptionally powerful earthbenders should be able to detect and bend.
i mean, you could literally make someone's heart explode
