It's sad the Phil couldn't make it here in Canada since he does have a super personality along with awesome guitar playing. We lose our best players to USA but I respect his decision.. He's a great guy and happy to see he's happy doing what he loves.. Keep on rocking Phil... SwB ... Great interview
I have so many reasons to thank Phil, but here's number one: Rare Earth Live. Just took delivery, in Australia, from a guy in Hollywood, of an original vinyl album, knackered gatefold but all original and it is the bloody nuts! How did I get into Rare Earth? Phil X rocking 'I Just Want To Celebrate' in one of his Fretted Americana vids. Good music is out there people, good on you Phil, keep on doing what you do mate.
YES I have a Squire Strat from the first year they were made in the mid eighties which Rocks.I've been told the same thing from my guy that worked on it and he said the same thing about how they were better then actual strats from that time. Not that i need anyone else to say but its nice.
@paddingtonfrisk i said "low output" pickups. right now my favorite P90 style retrofit is a Gibson P94 but i've been getting some amazing humbuckers from Arcane pickups. i don't use lollar pickups... i just said i should call that guy. glad you liked the interview. sorry i mumble sometimes. hahaha
Phil should try a EPI Wishire. They have amazing mini type buckers. I have really come to love the sounds you can get out of that guitar. You can either play metal or acoustic styles through the right amp. I use it for bot types of gigs because it is so versatile and easy to play. Great all around guitar.
@paddingtonfrisk It is Lollar pickups, the guy's name is Jason Lollar, Google Lollar pickups... It is one of many companies that makes pickups! Very hard to make up your mind when you have so much to choose from!
Ola amigo, I don't know the answer to your question, you must ask Phil directly, he is very cool so I trust he will answer your question... Happy New Year 2011!
can anyone enlighten me on what pickups he says he uses right at the end? it sounds like he says something like Lou Uppard pickup, around 11:55 mins in.
It could also be Dillion guitars, they do make reproductions of Les Paul, Strats etc... Hard to believe they didn't get sued and put out of business! They even have imitations of Rickenbacker guitars! dillionguitars(dot com)/guitar/electric/ I have heard they are quite good but I never saw one personally... by the way, Phil X is as cool in person as he is on videos! Merry Christmas to all!
IT'S NOT TV LAND IT'S RUclips LAND! just joking, phill you're awesome, your enthusiasm is through the roof and you rip it on those super expensive guitars like you don't give a crap, watching you jam out and go crazy is hilarious! keep rockin bro! :D
try 'steffsen' pickups (especially the humbuckers) it's a man from Belgium who makes the pickups to your specifications, made with techniques from the 50's. They are amazing pickups because he's got vintage gibsons as a reference to make new pickups. steffsen.be, check it out Phil, you won't be dissapointed!
Inspiration you talk about, I'm twice your age, when I look at you I see my self 30 years ago ,, I just couldn't play guitar worth a shit now things are different retired from the corporate world, it means a lot to me!!! anyway enough bullshit, your band KICK ASS!!!!!! Your ability to play Kick-Ass, your voice Kick-Ass so kick some ass brother , don't take a backseat to anybody go to the top that's where you belong, don't waste your time with a bunch of rock and roll flakes. You belong at the top. PS. I need to get 2 P-90 alnico 5???????
@thecarlfia56 How many McDonalds employees can play guitar as well as he can, get asked to fill on for a successful band like Bon Jovi and have a respected CV as a session musician? Probably none of them. I think the nobody here is you.
Sweet video. Phil X...... Legend!
Phil's really talented and seems like a really nice guy. Continued success Phil x...What's Upppp!!!!!

Great interview with Phil X! This guy is the man. What was that guitar brand Phil X mentions on 8:48?
Phil is one of the last TRUE rockstars. This man was created in the image of the rock gods.
The cartoon wolf at the beginning seems to be playing a Vox guitar, had no idea they made guitars lol.
Her name was Alison Krauss she did that album with Robert Plant.
@paddingtonfrisk What he say's is "low output pickups" But yes he is using Lollar pickups..:)
@dmchau777 He actually mentions a company called lollar about a minute or two before that. It's right before he mentions "arcane."
this guy is the real rock star.
@paddingtonfrisk
he says "low output" pickups, not Lollar.
@ga2lic Thanks bro, that is definitely a compliment because Christopher Walken is cool!
First child due in Oct 2013, have seen several pics of him with a little boy, on Twitter he said his nephew.
IM FAN OF PHIL AND FAN OF THE DRILLS
Ola amigo, I don't know the answer to your question, you must ask Phil directly, he is very cool so I trust he will answer your question... Happy New Year 2011!

interviewer reminds me of christopher walken
Phil isn't a druggie... never has been. He is energetic, LOVES what he does, and is like a kid with ADD.
Alison Krauss Phil. and holy shit i can't believe you mixed that record.
don't trust the dates on here, but says your comment 1 month old? He just married during the BJ tour break before Euro leg and has a baby due in Oct.
i think he thinks of alison krauss
@TheLowermen What is the "fuck you" for? Fuck you too and the horse you rode in on!!! Dude, don't forget to take your pills in the morning... Peace!

he has ditched his lollars since
