Well done John! When I bought my Jeep it had a tilt steering column in it... I did wire brush and re-paint it and the brackets when I had it all apart. Having the tilt steering is an awesome feature in the close quarters of a Jeep! Btw I see that “ididit” got the Jeep color right on their box / brochure😜. I’m looking forward to seeing the engine an headers go in!
Thanks for the videos, loosely using these for my rebuild. Too bad you tube doesn't let us post pics or I would show you mine. Keep the videos coming. Looking forward to doing my rewiring with your video coming soon.
Hey Scott and thanks. The wiring isn't that bad if you prepare for it and study the book etc. I have zero wiring issues to this day and totally believe the complete rewire was worth it. Send me some pics of your Jeep at JD_Offline@yahoo.com. JD
You shouldn't use the fender washers on the column bracket. Those aluminum inserts on the bracket are meant to break away in a collision the fender washers won't allow it to break away.
Thanks for including all the part numbers... I just created my new grocery list! Had to nix the steering column as i would have had to dip into the ole 401K (jk) to get that one! Cheers!
It appears that you already have a new Clutch Slave Cylinder attached to the bell housing which uses a mechanical throwout bearing. In the beginning of this video, you show a different hydraulic slave cylinder that would mount inside the bell housing. Am I confused? If they perform the same function, which do you plan to go with?
I have many videos to catch up on, look forward to watching the completion of your jeep and the upcoming next project ( I won't spoil it for all the viewers) ;) ~Jay
Garth Green Garth it’s the ididit column for a Jeep cj7 w tilt. It’s pricey and I think I caught it on sale for around $800. This was on Morris 4x4 labor day sale for 10% off. Thanks for the feedback and comment.
Hey JD, really have enjoyed your videos. How did you hook up the vapor canister? I have a 83 CJ7/258/Carter 2barrell carb with all the vacuums disconnected except for the basic PCV/dist. I have a Dorman 911-261 Vapor Canister which is basically the cheaper version of your AC Delco I get the fuel tank, but the Air and Purge are in question.
Hey Nolan and thanks for checking out the videos. I wish I could remember how I hooked this up but it's been a while. We are in the process of building a house and my Jeep is at my wife's Dads house so I don't have an easy way to run out to the garage and check this for you. Sorry I wish I could be more helpful. I do know however I hooked it up it helped with the gas smell in the engine bay tremendously. JD
Are you using the original clutch pedal assembly (mechanical) with the new hydraulic setup? Just curious... I upgraded to a 2004 trans in my '83 CJ7. I not sure if I should upgrade the pedal assembly too.
Mine was not punched out from the factory so I had to cut it out but did so using the factory indention on the firewall. I'm sorry I don't recall the exact dimensions. JD
Tom, the steering wheel is great and very high quality. Love the tilt. The wiring didn't line up because Ididit does not use the factory ignition switch and you have to wire it up to their relays. It wasn't that bad but took some study to understand it. I cover the differences in this video of the rewiring of my Jeep. It's segmented in the description box so you can jump ahead to the relevant section. ruclips.net/video/DK2XZFersrs/видео.html. No issues at all with the actual column and wiring once I got it all figured out. Hope this helps. JD.
Hey Terry. The ididit steering column has an electronic ignition that uses relays so it doesn't connect the factory ignition switch and you have to do that wiring custom. It really wasn't that bad as it came with instructions for the painless kit I bought and I confirmed everything with tech support before wiring. In a different video on my channel, I cover the entire wiring installation in detail (literally every wire and the video is about an hour long). Hope this helps and good luck with your project. Here's a link to that video. JD ruclips.net/video/DK2XZFersrs/видео.html

Tom Donnelly thanks Tom! Engine goes in next. It’s coming together slowly but surely. You’ll like update 55 coming up this week!!
Spring gonna be here before you know it, can't wait to see this build.
Thanks Ed!! I’m excited to get it done. Not long now.
Things are really coming together nicely. This is gonna be one awesome Jeep. Wish I was making this kind off progress. Always enjoy your videos
Jim Johnston Thank you sir!! Won’t be long now.

Can't wait to see how you do the headers.. mine were a pain in the arse getting them to fit right
I can tell you these fit like a glove. No issues....video to follow....
Thanks. So you just took it our cleaned it up and painted. Nice job on the whole Jeep!
Yes I sanded it down primed and painted it with por 15 spray paint.

Ken Wilson Hey Ken. Didn’t know that. Thank you for that knowledge! I haven’t tightened them up yet so I will remove them based on that. Thanks.

UCanDoIt2 haha yeah the steering column was pricey. Hope your Jeep is coming along as well. We get these things running we need to connect!
@@JDOffline Absolutely on the connect. It would also be fin to put together a trail ride somewhere. Cheers!!!!

Glad I found this video
Thanks for checking it out, glad it helped. JD
Thanks JD awesome stuff
Thanks Tom. JD
Great Video, what is the part number of the ididit steering column you used? Can you share how much you paid for it? Thank you!

@@JDOffline Thanks for the prompt response, no problem, I did figure it out with a lot of jeep forum reading, all a learning experience.
@@nolanchauvin5579 it’s a lot of fun as well! Thanks again for the comment and good luck w your jeep. JD

Yes I used the original assembly w no issues. JD
How much of the clutch master hole did you trim out?Trying to do it with booster on.

Looks like your ididit column lined up pretty well with your jeep how did all the wiring match up?

Was the ididit a plug and play into the original wiring or into the your painless system? Or they all the same? Thanks

Can you tell me where you got the canister mounting bracket?
Stuart if you are referring to the charcoal canister, the mounting bracket is factory CJ and was with my Jeep.
What master clutch cylinder are you using? I can't find one that has a threaded fitting for the hydraulic line.
Al I got my hydraulic clutch through Novak Conversions. I'm sorry I don't know the name brand of it but if you give them a call they can hook you up.
Did you keep the stock CJ clutch pedal from the original mechanical linkage setup?
Yes, I did.
@@JDOffline Did you drill another hole in the clutch pedal assembly to accept that clevis pin?
Hydraulic clutch is the way to go I did it on my 80 cj5 last year so much better
Matt Looney I hope so!! Thanks for watching Matt.
