Dale was the humanity of the group, the heart of the group. How can you be mad at someone with a huge heart like Dale? If you keep killin' because you don't trust...how can there ever be trust and when will the killing stop? If you look at it that way, Shane should have been killed a long time ago. Just my opinion.

Shane called it from the moment they brought Randal back. He was a threat. He got ignored because "Shane can't be trusted". Shane called it when they wasted half a day driving out to some abandoned prison to leave him to his ways. He was ignored because "Shane is just crazy and hot-headed". Then finally when Rick thought it was all done with the guy says something that makes them realise he really is a threat. He knew exactly where they were, who they were and then when it came down to it, Rick still failed to make the right decision. Say what you want about Shane but he's ahead of the curve by far and knew exactly what was needed to survive in this new world. He just couldn't convince the others because he was obsessed with Lori and painted as a madman.
It’s annoying that Carl acted out and did this but y’all gotta remember he’s a child in a horrible, bloody, dark world where none of his elders even know what to do and how to act. He handled it better than most kids would.
Dale is not being petty, he sees the truth. I urge y’all come back and watch Dale’s argument once season you finish the last episode of season season 8, just real quick. Genuinely 🤍
@@maddielkayeI agree with you and see where you're coming from but I also think so early on in the apocalypse where the whole meltdown of modern society is still that fresh you need to adapt to these new circumstances first and realize that the world has changed and that If you want to survive this first phase you need to adapt as well. Of course it's a very fine line between becoming a total psychopath and still keeping your humanity to a point where you're becoming delusional to your surrounding- situation but I think you have to maintain a good balance in order to see that bigger picture..
Daryl is the ultimate Lieutenant He saw his Captain was tired and he stepped up Notice who didn’t.
One of the most impacting scenes early in the series Dale just wanted to be heard express himself and not lose hope as a human being He was always the voice of reason.
Daryl is the true MVP here.
As the group’s second in command Shane should have carried the weight when Rick couldn’t bring himself to do what was necessary and end Dale’s suffering and that’s not a negative comment on Rick Rick’s the one with the burden of leadership and all his decisions affect the group The sudden loss of Dale was too much for Rick to take after the loss of Sophia and quarrel over what to do with Randall.
Unlike Shane Daryl showed he would help Rick carry the weight Daryl replaced Shane as second in command the moment he put down Dale.

Dale wasn’t petty, he was just a person that stood up for what he believed. He stood up for what he thought was right when no one else would stand with him. That’s not petty, that’s incredibly noble. By those standards, Darryl is also petty. He was a last pillar of actual humanity in this show, followed by Hershel.
The conversation in the house about Randall is one of my favorites cause it’s such a pivotal moment for the show. So much foreshadowing and emphasizes such an important theme of the show.
Rip Dale gone way too soon, Dale wasn’t supposed to die this season, he was supposed to die in season 5, the actor who played Dale left the show because he was friends with one of the writers who got fired, but at the end he changed his minds but it was too late

I really think that Dale was the soul of the group, he always tried to do the most ''political'' thing, as you said ''Dale was too good for this world.'' And I really like his last words '' This group is broken.''

Shane would 100% have left Rick....then lied to the group about it like he did Otis. He was jealous of Rick and wanted his family. He would have left him and the guilt would have caused him to completely lose his mind.
R.I.P. Dale. Being the moral compass is okay. But being the moral compass when it goes against the group is a TV death sentence.
The thing about Dale is, he was the humanity and heart that kept the group hopeful. He didn’t lose sight of what is right and wrong. Regardless of the dead people eating everyone around them, Dale always found a way to give comfort and support in times where it felt hopeless. His talk with the group was very much needed at that time. Dale wasn’t being annoying, he was being the voice of reason that they desperately needed in that moment. If they just start killing other people because they can’t trust them, where does that line end? Do we completely erase our morals because the world is different now? You can’t just end someone’s life without heavily damaging yourself and possibly damaging the group you are trying to save, and that’s the point Dale was making. He knew once that line was crossed there would be no coming back from it.
I know it’s been a while but- Dale is the realest mfer in the comics. Literally the very first time he speaks to Rick, he tells him “listen, Shane is cool and all for the camp, but he ain’t happy you’re back, you watch him around your wife, I wouldn’t trust him with mine” and honestly I love him for that. Didn’t even shake the man’s hand yet and was laying hard truths on him already.

the thing with this season was if Rick would be taking which route as a leader of the group. Dale is the humanity, the good in all the bad while Shane is doing the bad things for the reasons he think is "right", coincidentally both died on the season and that's when Rick had the jump of having both as a leader, the humanity and wisdom of Dale but the kill or be killed by Shane and i think that's beautiful

it was Frank Darabont who was the showrunner of Season 1 and executive producer for half of Season 2 Frank was fired because of budget reasons when that happened Jeffery DeMunn wanted to leave the show because he was upset over his friend getting fired it’s like no him then no me if I remember it was actually Frank who convinced Jeffrey to be on the show plus they have worked together before Also Jeffery changed his mind last minute but they already wrote his last episode so it was too late I really loved Dale he sure was a type of person I’d talk to he was the voice of reason in the group still to this day I still miss Dale.

I wish you could just go one by one lol both sides were right. Dale was maintaining and seeking the correct balance, the down side and the conclusion of the rest was basically “it is too risky” , basic logic and outcome comparisons. Though decisions and consequences. I saw this show and I find it valuable to try to get into the scenarios and perspectives of each character in the deepest sense, is very enriching, doesn’t hurt to have that practice and sense of survival in real life.
Dale wasn’t actually supposed to die here the original plan for him was to make it to Season 5 there is a scene I woulda loved to see Dale in Season 5 but they had him replaced personally I think it woulda been better if Dale survived to Season 5.

the problem is Dale was not wrong but it sadly is a fact that the circumstances have changed and now it IS survival of the fittest.. but I agree with Dale that they should've discussed this way more since it is the life of a pretty much child afterall I mean of course that would've made killing him more uncomfortable and hard for everyone but the question is, should it be that easy? I think that was Dale's main problem, how everyone brushed it off, didn't even wanna talk about this at all, not really wanting to be involved with deciding over a life because it's easier and more comfortable of course when you can leave the decision and job to someone else (in this case Rick). That's why it was actually such a huge gesture from Daryl to be the one to kill Dale in the end since everyone is leaving everything for Rick lately as in “he can handle it by himself"
plus can we please appreciate how incredibly observant Daryl actually is? He had Shane figured out from second one, he always figured Shane killed Otis. That little scene was so great in my opinion, tells you a lot about Daryl

The reason Dale died was because that the actor (Jeffrey DeMunn) was Friends with the director (Frank Darabont) of the show and the director got fired so the actor wanted to leave as well

Personally, I was glad Dale got killed. I was so tired of his Morale outrage and his refusal to accept the world they were now living in. I did not shed one tear when this character died. Shane might have been an assh*le but he was right about them having to adapt and change in their New World.
