Yeah. They actually didn't follow savior protocol by kiIIing someone right off the bat. No one from the kingdom fell to the saviors until Henrys brother via Jared.
I'm pretty sad you didn"t mentionned Laura, one of my favorite background character. I was so hyped to see her in "Here's Negan" since she might be the closest savior to him
I do agree that he should've lived (he was one of my favorite characters) but I don't think he could've carried the way he did in the comics. For one he's completely different from his comic counterpart. Two Chandler Riggs really isn't the best actor. He's FAR from being the worst on the show but even he himself has admitted that he could've done better. A lot of that though is probably because they really didn't give his character much to do so he grew disinterested after a while.
@@notcoolden That's not why Laurie Holden didn't come back. Glenn Mazara killed her for shock factor and nothing else. Once Laurie and the rest of the production team noticed the death, her death had already been written and budgeted for. The original plan would've made her live until EASILY season 10 considering the pace of the show. Laurie cried all night long when she found out Andrea was gonna die. It's the reason Mazara was fired.
@@RWBprototype don't think it was exclusively shock factor. Canonically she made almost an entire seasons worth of wrong decisions. Knowing your ex group is out there and playing "both sides" of the war, sleeping with the governor, betraying Michonne/friendship,etc. Now yes all these could be attributed to bad writing, but if you told me that after all those horrendous decisions, she could be welcomed back to the group with open arms for the subsequent 7 seasons it would be hard to believe. Maybe the moral quandary is: Andrea tried to make everyone happy and it made her friends die on both sides, she was a lawyer and liked peaceful resolution and that's not possible in the apocalypse. They character arc maybe could have been interesting, but her dying to me was also a product of a whole season (1.5 seasons, some of her farm decisions were bad too) costing her her life.
@@mkwsoxfan You have extremely valid points, and Laurie, much like Sarah Callie's, HATED her arc in S3. She even said she thought Andrea was too bitchy in S2 and was playing peacemaker in S3 and sleeping with a psychopath. She hated her story.
Andrea would've made it till the end of season 11 if the show followed the comic book. Her character died in the comic in the next to last issue. She was killed off sooner I think due to fan perception. No one liked her or Sarah Wayne Callie's. That's why they killed them both off sooner than their comic counterparts. Glenn Mazara was let go because of killing T-Dog. T-Dog was a fan favorite and was supposed to live till the whisperer war I believe according to the comics
Carol was a great character with a great character arc but I still don’t think she should be at 2. She should be at top 10 for sure but Daryl deserves 2 more than her
Everyone knows wayne dunlap or enimem from terminus is the best character. They had so much potential in the story especially wayne. Still coping from his death.
Actually surprised that Judith is so low and not many backing her up. I was really impressed by the actress in the last seasons, I thought she is a real badass in the making with the amount of skill she had. And best of all, she may have been the only kid in the entire show who I thought was not annoying (I’m not counting RJ because even the writers forgot about him)
She's in my top 10. I love that she was the first known character we see in the huge time jump, I was all "Holy sh*t" when she picked up the hat and said "I'm Judith, Judith Grimes". I think she shows what the new generation should now be like, being raised in this new world and I love her relationship with Negan.
this is a solid list and it’s so refreshing to see andrea at a decent spot. so many people hate her but i thought she was a solid character who had a lot of potential
I understand peoples issues with her but i dont understand people saying she is playing both sides, it really came off as her genuinely wanting to make peace between her family and her new community. That entire community fell for The Governors manipulations, i dont think its fair to treat her like an idiot for being fooled by a MASTER manipulator
@@DourFlower I think people also get mad because she had the best chance out of everyone to kill the governor, knife him while he sleeps. The decision not to makes it seem like she was taking the governors side more then the prisons
@@DourFlowerthe entrie community didn't seeing brains and didn't she also know about gov daughter. Yea Andrea knew gov better then most and she was dumb lol
She's very low down for me but her actions are understandable. She lost Amy and took her a while to get over being saved at the CDC. This sort of thing requires many therapy sessions which she couldn’t get so took it out on others and alienated herself just wanting to be security. She should have trusted Michonne when it came to the Governor but TBF after months of being out on the road and very ill I would be easily swayed by the Governor's charm and safe walls etc.
I have to disagree about Lori playing both sides. She truly wanted Rick the whole time but when Rick was gone(which Shane convinced her to be true) it made sense to her for them to be together. When Rick came back she cut things off immediately and Shane even attempted to take advantage of her in the lab. She loved Rick truly and she died so that her baby could have a chance to live. That being said I think she was quite the admirable character.
your analysis of richard was so surprising to me, he had so much to do with carol when she was living in that isolated little house and he literally tried to get daryl to assassinate her because he didnt know they knew each other!! also when henrys older brother was killed because of him and he had all that shit goin on.. so interesting that he wasnt a memorable character for u!!
In terms on a TV show I agree, but I terms of the story I like where Rosita headed. After being dumped by Abraham who was brutally killed in front of her then sleeping with Spencer who was also brutally killed, it was lovely to see her settle down and become a Mum and just try to have a stable environment as possible for her family.
@Prussia_ Damn it.. I need to re-write. Coral is number 1 and I'll remove T-dog from the list to make way for Andrew, keeping in tradition of the show.
Carls death never became meaningless after Sadiq died. For 8 years and 8 months he was alexandrias only medical professional. If he hadnt gotten saved by carl, alexandria would have fractured and split off into the three other communies as in their world a doctor is absolutely essential and none of the communities had the capacity to take on all of alexandria. If that had happened the whisperers would have been encountered a different way as their lands had to be expanding every few months. What ever group of people came across them first would have been wiped out because they wouldnt have tried to run like eugene and rosita did due to eugenes injury. Which means the communities wouldnt have learned about the whispers until they were at the gates of a community scouting or with their full hoard after scouting. Which would have created a seige preventing what ever community was surrounded by walkers from getting help before their walls come down. Takes a day by season 10 to get between the closest communities. So the other 3 communities would need to pick which has the most defendable community (hill top) and have a few days or weeks to fortify as alphas people slowly make their way towards hill top expanding into new areas to grow the herd and to find new prey animals for them to hunt. But they would have been down a quarter of their fighting force they had in season 10 during the hill top attack. The any couldnt hold out with the manpower they had. Would have been ove faster and more would have died. Particularly if Eugene wasnt there to set up that wire trap that took out a couple dozen right at the beginning. They would have much more time to set up defenses but alphas hesrd had months if not years to expand even further. This is something most people who do what ifs completely ignore. The entire story shifts if one character lives or dies that shouldnt have. The ides that Eugene would have still gone out with rosita and encountered the whispers is unlikely as every si gle interaction they have with the world up until then would have been different. Maybe rick doesnt leg negan live because carl doesnt write him that letter. And every saviour gets wiped out. Then what? Would the bridge have ever gotten built? Would ocean side have been wiped out by the fire from the crashed satellite? Would the hoard responsible for ricks leaving the show have been a threat at all and result in rick staying by just doing into the river because of the destoryed bridge?
I would've added Laura to atleast top 30, she was one of the better saviors, and the actresses gave an excellent performance especially in the Negan Episode. Also honorable mention for Lucille the Bat and Shiva, also Dog

This list was awesome! There's so many iconic characters throughout the series everyone's list is going to be different but it was awesome going through the characters with a little bit of explanation
I'm gonna stand by the fact that Beth dying was the dumbest decision the show could have done. She wasn't relevant for most of the show but that potential she held as a character was kinda in the air would have been so important compare to many other characters. This includes the main characters like Rick, Daryl, Maggie, and etc as those characters are more mad ass characters. Beth wasnt going to be as strong as them in combat but when it comes to the audience she had that potential for many women, girls, and even guys out there. She's a character that couldn't exactly mentally take what the world had become. She goes to cutting herself and is suicidal. This unfortunately in our world is a death that occurs in a high amount for especially younger people. As Beth says she's not her sister or any of the other of the strong powered women or men for that matter. However for example with her singing seems to entend that yes she's a character that's in pain and probably doesn't see her own importance because she isn't some badass fighter but that her singing supports the group to keep into that being a light for the group instead of the world of killing Zombies and she also looks after the kids which could happen unfortunately. She's like that back up defense if the others die she's the hope to save the children but unfortunately the kids were kinda dying off even before Beth's death but like with judith and other future kids that would be present. When at the hospital when one of the guys tries to take advantage of her she stands up for herself and fight back however she doesn't rush to do it. Unfortunately that's the reality to find the right moment but also knowing there are times those right moments won't happen against those tyoes of people. There was so much potential for Beth that her dying was the worst decision. To tell someone her age that they can be important and they may suffer doesn't mean her life doesn't hold value and can contribute to the Society amd Group. Her potential story holds so much empowerment that she gets killed by Dawn which gives ger story but her death just ruins everything.
Dude I’m so grateful for your channel it’s so nice watching all these videos over my favorite TV show especially when it’s long been a dead show. Thanks for all the effort you put into your vids man
I definitely agree with your top, especially the top 3. 1. Rick 👑 2. Carol 3. Negan Mine is: 1. Rick 2. Daryl/Negan (they close to share the second place) 3. Carol 4. Michonee 5. Maggie
u seem to be underating shane, merle, govnor, i mean negan over government and shane is crazy, negan made one of the worst 2 seasons of the show and the has the worst fake out death in the show, also his humor was forced, carol was good till s5, in s6 and up she got ruined when morgan came along but i guess its subjective
I think this is a very good list and your character analysis is spot on. My only criticism is you said that Judith was the only remaining Grimes left on the show, you forgot RJ. I think this is the writers fault and not yours because he barely had any lines or episodes. But he is a very important character since Rick and Michonne are his parents.
I would put Daryl over Glenn mostly due to the fact that he’s had more character development. I think if they didn’t kill Glenn off after taking his first human life and showing just how much it affected and changed him I’d be cool with the placing. Though in the same breath I guess you can call his death following the attack on one of Negan’s outpost just as ironic as it is tragic again, considering he took his first human life.
@@sheena171nah I wouldn’t say so. The reason glenn ranks higher for people is for the time he was in the show, his character itself didn’t have any dead end corny plot points. Daryl’s whole arc where he hated Dwight who was obviously trying to help them was stupid. Glenn has never had a storyline miss, while Daryl has had a few. It might be a quaint analogy but I’d rather see someone bowl 4 strikes in a row with no points after, than 3 strikes and 7 spares non consecutively.
I may have misunderstood when you said Judith is the only Grimes family member on the show even though she really isn't a Grimes. RJ is a Grimes family member. He didn't make your list, but I wanted to mention him because of what he represents - the future. He is the Grimes legacy, and he will likely be seen in the Rick and Michonne spinoff with his adopted sister Judith.
Sooo happy w the top 3! Carol is my favorite, REALLY disappointed she couldnt join Darryl on his journey. Im still holding out hope, especially since i heard they weren't filming in Italy (or wherever their filming) Hate me if you will, but I LOVED Abraham as well! Even more than Glenn. Glenn's character wasnt growing, he was becoming a background character. Not to say i didnt like him, I did, but after Alexandria, he just became a babysitter to whats his name..
Gavin deserves to be way higher and is underrated, his character is very interesting, he didn’t enjoy being one of Negan’s top guys but did it anyway for self preservation
I only watched twd this year and your videos have served as a great companion piece to the series! If you haven't already, I think a ranking video of 'best character introductions' would be fun, and I don't just say that because I want to see Jesus at #1 lol
I loved rosita only at the last season because she was easily the best fighter out of everyone, she lacked the physical strength but just bullied and mopped walkers
I think I mentioned this on another video, but although I agree that's she had wasted potential, Pamela had a clear purpose, and she served that well. She pretty much presented the other side of rebuilding society. She wasn't really affected by the apocalypse that much, and just continued being a priviliged and ignorant politician. She, and the commonwealth in general was a good "final boss" in this sense, the survivors weren't fighting the threats of the apocalypse anymore, they were fighting an enemy that some of them (like Connie) would have fought in the old world - corruption, poverty, and other systemic issues. But I might be reading too much into it
@@sammmy6718 me either don’t think it’s true… maybe he just was killed off to be killed off, but I do think he should have lasted longer & would have been cool to have him die with negan lol
Both Merle Dixon and Simon should be way higher, they served such a great purpose as kind of "right hand characters" Merle should be in my eyes around top 30 where Simon is pushing the top 10
Idk if someone has already said this or if I’m delusional but isn’t Virgil in some later episodes too? Like he’s with Connie when Kelly finds her and he comes back to Alexandria and helps in that episode with the bad storm…right??
Man I loved Toby's character so much. Was annoyed that they killed him off so quickly cause he was heavily underutilized......Walking Dead loves to do that with good villains don't they. He reminded me of Troy from Fear The Walking Dead which also was a big fan favorite.
@@Maesterful Really? How Lol like a flashback or something? We saw him get ripped apart by Walkers lol what a waste. Both Toby and Lance killed off way to early and unceremoniously
Imagine your living in a thriving community and then all of a sudden a dirty dude shows up and changes things and within months your entire family dies. I feel BAD for spencer. And even if the saviors found Alexandria, they probably would not have suffered as much losses.
True… but it was ONLY THRIVING because that herd of walkers hadn’t broken out of the quarry yet. If that had happened before Rick’s group got there, that herd would’ve completely wiped Alexandria off the map. Not to mention the Wolves. Alexandria only survived BECAUSE of Rick and his group.🤷🏻♀️
I wonder if you would be down to do a bottom 25 characters. Maybe some of the people that are only in one or two episodes, the pedophile guy that hangs out with the claimers comes to mind, also Carter, the cowardly guy that tries to turn on Rick and dies in the first episode of season 6. I'm sure there's more, those just came to mind...
Glenn should be right there with Rick. Without him sticking his neck out, Rick would’ve been dead. Same for Morgan, except Glenn’s importance as a constant character throughout the show drove the narrative quite a few times and kept lots of us drawn into the story. He was also the heart and soul of the show, being the moral compass, along with Dale and Hershel.
Not as good as Rick though. what makes Rick the best character is the fact is that he was a blank canvas that was constantly being painted by his environment and the people around him. Glenn still great though
@@IIIISai Flawed logic?? Did you even read my entire comment? Of COURSE Glenn’s importance and value weren’t SOLELY based on the fact that he saved Rick. I said he was the heart and soul of the show, drawing us in throughout his time with the group. He was ALWAYS one of the people Rick instantly looked to when contemplating imperative decisions. He was Rick’s other right hand man, along with Daryl. That means he is a pretty essential character.
@@tiabeaniesemotionalsupportdmon his plot function isn't gonna get him too far on the Rankin, he was stagnant for most of the show, definitely was not the heart or soul, that's rick and hershel, Rick looked at daryl before glenn and shane before that and hershel after that, glenn was like that dude on the side, and when glenn got his first kill and almost had some way of development he died right after, his whole personality also essentially became maggies boyfriend
At first I was thinking a top 100 would contain genuine nobody characters (like Beth’s season 4 boyfriend for example) who’s name I wouldn’t remember, not a single one in the list. I’ve never comprehended just how many characters this show had.
Virgil was not in only 1 episode, he was also in the episode from season 11 where Connie and Virgil goes into the abandoned mansion and find it’s accompanied by cannibals.
Hi Thrifty, I felt compelled to tell you how much I enjoy your synopses. Clearly, you are a highly intelligent and talented guy. I'm sure you could write things that we could all watch and enjoy. It’s hysterical that Alden and Tyreese were next to each other because not only do I love them both, before I watched this I said if either of them specifically were above 30 I’d be pissed.
My 10… 1. 🗡️ Michonne 2. ‘The King’ Ezekiel 3. Jesus 4. Rick 5. Carol 6. Daryl 7. Andrea (ruined potential when and after choosing the Governor to 🛏️🤷🏼♂️😢) 8. Morgan 9. Carl 10. Glenn
I wasn’t going to watch this because I thought no way is there even 100 characters to rate! But here I am commenting at 34 with Simon (who deserves a higher spot) and you still haven’t gotten to our top players, however, you’ve already rated some of the main ones. What I am trying to say is this video wasn’t what I thought it was going to be and I’m surprisingly entertained.
This must have taken you so much time lol. Nice work! Love to hear other people's perspectives on things like this. I'm going to try and come up with a top 10 and post it here later.
1. Rick No question about it for me. What an arc, what a character, what an actor. Rick made this show what it is. 2. Hershel That man was a bad-ass and also had such a great arc. He had such great influence on Rick as well. Wise man, big heart and truly one of the good guys from start till end. 3. Negan The most entertaining villain of the show. When I first watched the story unfold, I absolutely hated him for all the drawn out misery he brought to our beloved characters. However, when you rewatch those seasons after you already know where it will eventually go, it becomes wildy entertaining. Negan, from his point of view, actually makes some sense and let's be honest; he's hilarious. "Well, ding ding!" 4. Michonne Another wise bad-ass. And so loyal. I think loyalty might be her defining trait. I love how from the beginning, she was level-headed, a bad-ass warrior, and she respected Rick as a leader and man. But when he would go to far, she also wasn't afraid to step in. She was the woman Rick needed on his side, and the mom Carl & Judith needed. I will never understand people who didn't see their relationship coming. They helped each other be the best they could be. It was obvious to me from the first season she was introduced that they had chemistry. 5. Merle What? Merle?! Yes. The main reason he's so high up on my list is because his arc ended when it did. Merle had one of the best completed arcs in my opinion. Was he redeemed by the end? Probably not. But a very well written character and his last scene always his me right in the feels. 6. Daryl The only reason Daryl comes after Merle is because Daryl made it to season 11, and by that time I felt like the writing just wasn't what it used to be. But I can't deny that Daryl is the dark horse of this show and definitely one of the characters I was always most excited to follow. 7. Shane Shane has to be next. Only two seasons on the show, but damn, the guy's influence was so great. And even when you're watching season 10, and he's mentioned once more, it feels like yesterday. Such a strong performance by John as well. Perfect arc, during the time the show was it's strongest. 8. Carol If my ranking had been based on just the earlier seasons, Carol would have been up higher. I'm not sure why, but I kinda lost the Carol-hype at some point. Nevertheless, amazing character, amazing arc, especially in the beginning. 9. Eugene I just love Eugene. I can't help it. Great survival instinct, even if it looked different from the survival instinct seen in character like Rick. Eugene was unique that way. He saved the day during the Negan arc, which made him a hero. Loved that he got his happy ending in the end. 10. Alpha This one was hard. It was between Alpha and Glenn for me. But it has to go to Alpha. Last great villain imo. And so unique. She made walkers a threat again. When she came into the show, our group felt invincible. And she managed to bring back the real tension, real stakes. I also loved the actress for this role. Well, there you have it. Now I'm going to watch your top 10. Didn't want to be influenced by it so wrote my own down first. :)

the fact she could’ve lived till the end is unbelievable but yeah if she didn’t get killed off that early they could just prolong the contract

Actually surprised that Judith is so low and not many backing her up.
I was really impressed by the actress in the last seasons, I thought she is a real badass in the making with the amount of skill she had. And best of all, she may have been the only kid in the entire show who I thought was not annoying (I’m not counting RJ because even the writers forgot about him)
but shes doo doo
She did
Jack shit
Carl better
Judy was a dope character for a kid she was the new moral compass and legit made me cry when she did
She's in my top 10.
@@DourFlowerher character was ruined by her garbage acting. It was a casting error rather than a writing one.
That being said I think she was quite the admirable character.
u probably let woman step all over u
your analysis of richard was so surprising to me, he had so much to do with carol when she was living in that isolated little house and he literally tried to get daryl to assassinate her because he didnt know they knew each other!! also when henrys older brother was killed because of him and he had all that shit goin on.. so interesting that he wasnt a memorable character for u!!

There are thousands different languages but bro chose to speak facts
The first 2 seasons of rosita, she was a really good character. But near the end it seemed like they didn’t know what to do with her
Agreed, I think her character really became a bit to frustrating and unfortunately just a bit to bland

@@tiabeaniesemotionalsupportdmonand Merle’s hand
I remember that Garreth was on his honeymoon when he got the part and he had to come home early to film. I always found that funny.
I would've added Laura to atleast top 30, she was one of the better saviors, and the actresses gave an excellent performance especially in the Negan Episode. Also honorable mention for Lucille the Bat and Shiva, also Dog

i’ve been hoping to see your thoughts of these characters in a list! can’t wait to compare with my own
I'm gonna stand by the fact that Beth dying was the dumbest decision the show could have done.

Though in the same breath I guess you can call his death following the attack on one of Negan’s outpost just as ironic as it is tragic again, considering he took his first human life.
glenn is overrated
@@IIIISaidefinitely.
Glenn still great though
such flawed logic, so if a character saving someone makes them as good as the person they saved, Otis wife is one of the best for helping save carl 💀

This must have taken you so much time lol. Nice work! Love to hear other people's perspectives on things like this. I'm going to try and come up with a top 10 and post it here later.
1. Rick
No question about it for me. What an arc, what a character, what an actor. Rick made this show what it is.
2. Hershel
That man was a bad-ass and also had such a great arc. He had such great influence on Rick as well. Wise man, big heart and truly one of the good guys from start till end.
3. Negan
The most entertaining villain of the show. "Well, ding ding!"
4. Michonne
Another wise bad-ass.
5. Merle
What? Merle?! Yes. The main reason he's so high up on my list is because his arc ended when it did. Merle had one of the best completed arcs in my opinion. Was he redeemed by the end? Probably not. But a very well written character and his last scene always his me right in the feels.
6. Daryl
The only reason Daryl comes after Merle is because Daryl made it to season 11, and by that time I felt like the writing just wasn't what it used to be. But I can't deny that Daryl is the dark horse of this show and definitely one of the characters I was always most excited to follow.
7. Shane
Shane has to be next. Only two seasons on the show, but damn, the guy's influence was so great. And even when you're watching season 10, and he's mentioned once more, it feels like yesterday. Such a strong performance by John as well. Perfect arc, during the time the show was it's strongest.
8. Carol
If my ranking had been based on just the earlier seasons, Carol would have been up higher. I'm not sure why, but I kinda lost the Carol-hype at some point. Nevertheless, amazing character, amazing arc, especially in the beginning.
9. Eugene
I just love Eugene. I can't help it. Great survival instinct, even if it looked different from the survival instinct seen in character like Rick. Eugene was unique that way. He saved the day during the Negan arc, which made him a hero. Loved that he got his happy ending in the end.
10. Alpha
This one was hard.
