    That was fun guys, thanks for the ride. Taken it many times in the past, fun to relive it from the front cab.

    Used to take this every day when I worked at 1600 Arch St. Best way to travel in So. Jersey or Philly! I remember the week they opened up the Lindenwold line I took a ride to town, so many memories on this train, rock concerts at the Spectrum, Flyers games, Mummer's Parade!

      oh that's cool that you have alot of great memories behind riding this line. I bet you got to see the transition era. When the older cars were retired and the new Budds took over. I think it's got one of the best rides in the city. Auctaully it's the smoothest also. I need to re-ride it since they are rebuilding these cars. I don't think many of the original cars are left.

    Families seem or appear better when they get along like real pals. These males' companionship sounds so easy-going that I still can't readily tell, all these minutes later now, from their chats which is the father & which the son..they certainly deserved that beaming weather :)

      trainrover Thanks for the compliment. My dad and I are the best of buddies and even though we don't always agree on things we still get along and have fun. Plus we like trains so when we're both in or around them, well the video here is more then words can describe. :-) And indeed that day was awesome. Thanks again!!

    used to ride the old bridge line when it ended in Camden and then back over the bridge to philly. My dad had a flower kiosk at the 8th and Market station in the early 60s. Thanks for the ride...enjoyed reliving my past!

      ***** I like it. I am glad they rebuilt it but they need to rebuild or buy newer cars for it. The M4's are being run into the ground.

    Hi there EMDSD14R, I just discovered you and have subscribed and are anticipating many hours of fine viewing. I like it that you edit out the dwell time at stations and the banner explanations about the bridge and the like.

      Hi and thank you for discovering me and my channel! Thanks for subscribing! I'll sub you back after I post this comment. Indeed you won't be disappointed when looking through my channel. Thanks I try to keep station stop waits out unless I see or know a train is meeting mine. In certain video's I do post written facts about locations or numbers of trains or special trains but that's about it. Sometimes I announce it in the video. Thanks again and continue to enjoy my channel and video!

    It was the first system like it if I am correct but I don't think the slow order on the bridge or passing the MOW slowly was automated at the time. The system can be overridden by the operator.

      My dad was referring to the Trenton Thunder team and got the locations mixed up. he knows about the Camden River Sharks also. Yes your right there was but at the time of this filming I didn't remember. Thanks though :-)

    DC metro can't stop you from filming if your on the Amtrak station platform :-) Plus I've seen video's of people making some video's of the line but some places its not cool to film at all.

    I'm surprised that American metros are this old... I thought american trains are more something modern... it looks like it's from 1980s...

      +NT HM Actually this line was first opened in 1969.

    • @EMDSD14R
      @EMDSD14R  9 лет назад

      +NT HM Actually these cars are more durable then a lot of trains made today. They are actually being upgraded and rebuilt now. They'll still look the same but silver only. Also I think you need to look more into America trains we've got a lot of new trains in-service and being built right now. :-)

      what does PATCO stand for

    • @kevinhoward9593
      @kevinhoward9593 6 лет назад

      Port Authority Transportation Company. Its a division of Delaware River Port Authority. Not many transit lines have trains that can run in automatic controls. PATCO trains can basically drive themselves. the driver just opens and closes the doors.

      @@kevinhoward9593 - Operators (or are they "Engineers"?) are required to run one "manual" trip per work day using the cab signals rather then the ATC (Automatic Train Control).

    Much disinformation among riders.

    • @EMDSD14R
      @EMDSD14R  7 лет назад

      You mean between me and my dad or in general?

    • @sixroute
      @sixroute 7 лет назад +1

      Maybe a little too hard on you guys. Was it your dad who mentioned stations in the Franklin Bridge abutments? He was right that they were built, but were never used. I believe they were for streetcars to load/ unload above and public would climb up or down stairs to street level trolleys below. I am sure you know of the huge trolley terminal under the lighting bolt sculpture at the foot of the bridge. Also never used. The baseball field is not Camden Yards which is in Baltimore, but was the home of the Camden Riversharks. I don't think they are there any longer though. I think the freight line you saw was the NJT Atlantic City ROW which runs right next to the PATCO Line. In fact was the Pennsylvania Reading ROW from Camden to AC, with the line from Philly joining from the north from the Delair Bridge. I remember when they discontinued the 30th St leg, and one would ride Patco to Lindewold and change to P-R RDCs downstairs. Good production, I enjoyed

    • @EMDSD14R
      @EMDSD14R  7 лет назад +1

      Yes that was my dad and yes he was correct. At the time I didn't remember when I was filming this video. Indeed you are correct there were plans to have as Trolley station underground but it was never used. I saw a special on this in the TV series called "Secrets Beneath the Streets" .They did several episodes on Philadelphia including this here. Thanks I am glad you enjoyed the video and thanks for the extra information about it also!

      @@sixroute The freight line coming out of Camden is freight, not ACL, although it is part of the old Reading and PRSL ROW which ran from Camden to AC, with other PRSL branches forking off at Winslow. The NJT ACL follows the line from Delair and joins joins in with PATCO approaching Haddonfield, also part of the PRSL ROW.
