Oh, And I am 55, love fashion, trends, and classic, and I adore, simply adore black. It’s so chic and timeless. I really don’t think there should be too many rules at all about getting older and what you should wear. The only thing that I don’t do typically is really low shirts, skirts, shorts much above my knee, and I’m not as big a fan anymore of sleeveless things, or although I will wear them sometimes. I think if you feel amazing in it, you should wear it. ❤️❤️❤️
Fashion for over 40....are you kidding me!!! Its no different to women in they're 30s!!!! i think its more to do with lifestyle choices and body shapes. This day and age a lot of women look and feel better in they're 40s than at any other time in they're lives.
Such an inspiration. I am in my forties and was starting to doubt my style and was becoming more reserved through fear of looking "too much"' Gayle has been a breath of fresh air and given me the courage to again wear what I want. Thanks.
What a lovely lady this Gayle! Super informative, obsessed with her dress. I am from Holland so I don't know any British stylists... I am in my early 40's and I kinda have the same style, thank god she does mix and match as well and it doesn't stop at a certain age. I started doing this in my middle 20's and it is hard for me to stop :D Great show. Thank you for that x
Like Georgie I watched river dance in my teens I think everyone should watch it.. it's incredible. Also I agree having mother daughter/son time is important, I believe they appreciate you more and creating memories. Love gayles dress she looks great. Another fab show ladies ☺️xx
@@sheerluxe 40 was the new 30 when I was 40. I'm in my mid 60s now. My mother's generation also thought they seemed much younger than her mother's generation. I'm not sure if this is always true, or always a delusion.
So loved today’s show in particular, Gayle was fantastic, simply love her style. Really relevant topics/sections for a lady in her 30’s. Great job ladies, thanks so much. Have a good week.
Great show today Georgie! We have Alexa echos in every room of our house and use them mostly as intercom system to drop into different rooms and to announce to the whole house when dinner is ready. Our kids use audible to listen to books while they play or listen to music and as an alarm. Harry Potter series is playing on repeat in our house daily, cannot get enough. I use it as a Bluetooth speaker as well, add items to my grocery shopping list or occasionally to the amazon cart and to set a timer or reminders. We use the add on plugs which you can use through Alexa to turn them on and off but mostly I use the app. I listen to the news (when I can bare it) or podcasts on the Alexa. We also have a google device in our kitchen which has better voice recognition. We also go in the app to delete all conversations or commands Alexa has recorded. In case you are wondering, this is not a sponsored comment, it’s just the experience of a regular user.😉
Firstly! Great show today ;-) But... are you telling me that you can't understand at all why some people would buy fake designer goods?? Not that I have a fake anything or intend on buying fake. But I must admid that I think it is a bit more compleks than it just being a question of ethics or bad taste as you suggest. The price of these designer bags are so high prised that carrying a designer bag signals that some people have money enogh to buy things others NEVER will be able to - just the way you describe the thought of buying a fake shows that it is about status and class (inequality). I don't condone buying fake (don't get me wrong) but I will say that I do understand (in a way) why some people feel it is the only way that they can be a part of something as prestigest as owning designer goods. Also I am sure the labour conditions for a lot of workers within other brands (that many people shop at and that you feature in your show) are close to being just as bad. Sorry if it sounds very negative. I realy do like your show(s)!
I love your show! I’m from the US, and know that to dress in an elegant, classic way, you don’t need the designer labels. I want to spend my money on quality, but I gave so many more interesting/important things to spend our money on. I feel for people who think these items make them something. The fact that our good God made us is plenty for me!
At 57 years old, I found myself nodding Yes! I wear my clothes with confidence. I love mixing high end and thrift shop finds. Lots of color and print. I also like form fitting items. Not tight. Loved the 40+ fashion segment!
Thank you for having Gayle on the show. She is so knowledgeable and has impeccable taste! Great styling selection here, I liked the high, low combination here a lot. Can we have a bigger discussion around 'love bombing'?! That was a new one on me! Had me googling straight away! Also while we talked about having one on one time with our children (which I think is so important!) question for the team - how many of you still take trips with your girlfriends? Do you have an annual getaway? If you do - what do you do? Or if you don't, how do you maintain long-distance friendships? Sorry I am on catch up - I have been moving over the summer! x
Hi Emily, we are so pleased that you enjoyed the show and loved the styling. Thank you so much for your feedback - this is definitely something for us to think about! Many thanks xx
I purchased a fake handbag as a paycheque to paycheque single woman. I used it a few times but it now sits on a shelf unloved. Thanks to the husband I now have a small collection of the real thing. Ironically, half of those sit on the shelf untouched as I am afraid to ruin them. (White Multicolour LV Alma, looking at you). My advice to anyone purchasing a luxury handbag is get something robust. My black LV Noe that I purchased pre-loved has provided amazing service as a work bag, diaper bag, workout bag and travel bag. Still looks amazing and it is 25 years old now.
First fashion item i haven’t been too sure of - i loved the clothes but not that helpful if you have a job where sequins in the day would just worry people... Also i was a bit depressed by the “hey who knew you can still wear nice clothes in your 40’s” tone of the item. I’m 58 so christ knows how surprised you’d all be by my wardrobe ....
@@helenallen2832 Absolutely! Just turned 50 and I give zero Fs about the rules. Well most of them (but I'll get there!), I think I'm going to get a lot more interesting in 2020. If I'm comfortable in it................. it's getting worn. Ladies don't let society tell us we're done.

Hi Eileen, we're sorry to hear that you feel that way - we had such positive feedback on our Fashion In My 40s Look Book that we wanted to bring it to the show. We love women of all ages and agree that style has no age limit. We really appreciate you watching and thank you for the feedback - we will take it on board. Thanks, SL x
Eileen MyEditedStyle amen. Very narrow, ignorant and inappropriate with this topic. Missed the mark. Be thankful you get to enjoy all the experiences at any age. Goes by way to fast and before you know it you will be challenging those viewpoints.
Another awesome show!! Loved the insider look into Gayle's style. She is fantastic. And, the gadgets segment gave me some great Christmas ideas! Thanks so much, everyone!
There are NO key fashion rules for your 40's Age is just a number. Wear what you want for your body type. Life too short for flapping around what you can and can't wear! really WHO? sets these ridiculous rules. (no one! may I add) I don't buy any of this nonsense Period. Just another excuse for people to make £££ The biggest take is your body shape, dress for your shape!! Its NOT rocket science ladies and have FUN with it lol.
Loved the content but is there any chance to show women that are not necessarily anglo saxon, white? Being a latin woman I feel difficult to relate to the ones showing in your website. We all come with different colours an body shapes, lets embrace it ladies. Diversity is big business
I would like to note that buying from most highstreet brands is not, when it comes to the human welfare aspect, better than buying fake designer. and even lots of high priced designer brands produce under questionable conditions like some high street brands. it is a little more complex than saying: expensive must be well produced - it isn't always.
I missed you my SL friends! I was helping my family on difficult time, I came last night, woke up, super excited!! ready to catch up on all the episodes I missed, fo not having internet services where i was :( what a TREAT to have Gayle back, she's fantastic! Georgie LOOOOVE the micro iron - cloud nine---I would be in CLOUD NINE if I had this with me, very practical, I'm buying one for my next trip :) My jewelry screammms for help, Great Gadgets. So good to be back! Big Hugs!
Maybe we could shift the language a bit....as a forty year old woman with a defined sense of style and a healthy amount of body confidence I cringe when I read the word RULES. I appreciate fashion inspiration, but maybe instead of placing limitations on what is "appropriate" we could celebrate what is wonderful about growing older. More autonomy....more resources (if you're lucky)....more evolved sense of one's own style and what works on one's body....etc. just a thought as a member of the target audience 🙂💜
