Great to know, I adjusted mine for power etc sounded like an alfa twin cam, but brought the settings back abit and replacing the cat didn't make much of a diferance it runs fantastic after I learned how to adjust the whole pump and its just passed the mot with low emissions , putting a large intercooler on really lowers the egt I would definitely do that first before adjusting the pump to 11 its great to out drag td5s coming up from brighouse on the m62
We used to tweek the wolf emissions by tweeking that screw every so slightly back in the day of been a REME mechanic. Quite surprising how little adjustment made such a big difference. Also good for hiking the power up but carefully with a exhaust temp gauge. In gives more pump internal pressure.
Indeed it is not much of a turn to make the difference and it acts on the whole rev range, not the power band you want, so it affect idle speed 100% correct for the EGT
Your Videos have been a life saver over the last year or so...this one was helpful because I inherited a modified 200tdi engine which was creating black smoke from start up. Have you done a video on cleaning/checking the injectors on a 200tdi?
No injector videos as it usually involves buying new nozzles and setting them up - sadly not much information on them - and to get a pro shop do them here is expensive - so much so, it is cheaper to buy new - but not Chinese ones!
Be right back.... Oky doky... 39.16mm. Runs and starts beautifully, but when i let out the clutch and accelerate, doesnt want to move until about 900-1000 rpm. I had to lean the fuel out because i want to drive further than 600 kilometers on a tank. Im used yo getting around 1000 ks a tank. maybe now it just needs just a squidge extra gogo juice.
@@jimnewton6566 G'day Jim. I found that someone had severely advanced the star wheel in the injection pump and wound the fuel right up. So, i had to 'reset' the star wheel, wind out the fuel and work from there. Long story short, it now runs and drives beautifully and efficiently! Zero black smoke out the exhaust.
Evening me old mucker Cracking schooling as always, thank you. Any chance you could do something about alternators. I’m just about to replace the one of my 200tdi 90 and there are so many options available at Autocentre’s, eBay and more. What’s the score or is it a simple case of you get what you pay for? I ask this with cooper washers in mind and that has nothing to do with price! Merry wot nots to all 🎄❄️🎅🏻
Nearly all the cheap alternators are Chinese - I have not had much luck with them in the past (starters are so so) I now fit Denso ones, which is the OEM option - so far so good! I have on file the 300Tdi alternator :- States Denso made in the UK, Lucas - made in Turkey Mike
Its allways handy to know where all the 'start' points are for anything thats adjustable. You just never know whos had a go at what :) .Any suggestions on the 'star wheel' neutral position? lol. Cheers mate. Loving your videos.
This is a big problem with pump overhauls - they should be bench tested to set them up - as you say, you never can work out if they have been fiddled with in the past Mike
only just happened across your channel and binge watched through the night with a bout of insomnia. great content and well explained
Thank you Adam!
Stick around for more real repairs!

Great to hear!

Very helpful, many thanks for the video
Glad it was helpful!
Do you have a video on how to tune these pumps and which adjustment changes which characteristics of the drive?
Sorry, due to liabilities I no longer offer tune up information
@@BritannicaRestorations fair enough thanks
Thank you for understanding - IF I told you what to do, and you ruined your engine by doing something beyond my advice, you could sue me
Yeah I get that

what was the outcome? were you having problems before you checked it and did you get it running cleanly?

do you have the external measurement by chance?
Also what is the EGTs suppose to be for optimal power?
volume screw.. don't you just turn them up to 11 ( wonder how many people outside the UK will get that one )
That was Marshall amps wasn't it? - they used to make them close to where I lived in Milton Keynes
@@BritannicaRestorations .. close, it was spinal tap.. but from memory it was a bank of marshall amps they had
Indeed - there is a RUclips video on Marshall amps and they mention the 11
