I was very happy to hear her say the seedlings are from Kenya because I am currently conducting a feasibility study on an avocado growing venture. Though a 5-foot spacing is not correct, I believe she meant 5 meters, which translates to 25 square meters per tree and, therefore, 160 tree seedlings per acre.
Ok

What is the size of a acre in Uganda since other countries are different
@@shamsiya5993an acre is a standard measure worldwide.
@@shamsiya5993 An acre is an acre whether in Uganda or Denmark
drip irrigation using plastic bottles..is a good way to go during drought
It's 5 meter by 5 meter not feet, but you can choose 7x7 meter
What professional journalism, keep up the great work. From Ethiopia 🙌🙌🙌🙌
I liked the fact that she shared some of the setbacks;losing 4000 seedlings bought at 8k each is depressing. I have experienced such scenarios I want to avoid telephone farming as much as possible. This was an insightful video there was alot to pick
The ideal strategy would be 2b on the gd but unfortunately, a lotta of folks with the resources 2 invest in such capital intensive ventures reside in the diaspora. But that shdnt be a reason not 2 start. It comes down 2 how u manage the risks. Otherwise, u'll never start anything if ur afraid of losses. It is part of doing bness!
On the setbacks would have been beat they had a back up nursery growing avocado seedlings from seeeds and do their own grafting in case of any inconvenience
please do another programme on Marias Macadamia growing
Very rich content! Thank you Denis for the brilliant questions and Maria for the detailed answers.
I think the lady meant a spacing of 5 meters by 5 meters not feet. Thank you.
Tru dat! That is the recommended min.!
Yes, mine is 7 by 7, I'm at 4 hectares and looking forward for 10
There some variety now that can do 3x3
Yes indeed, glad you noticed, it was a slip of a tongue.
@mariajorgensen7592 You're very welcome, my sister. Great work. Kudos to you. Cheers.
Well information grafted is the key any type you do not want a planting takung many yrs to fruit I have a few grafted avocados seeds is local the Haas scion is importanted to graft it
Wonderful and very educational Interview, Job welldone.
What an amazing insightful interview. I'll be starting my farm very soon
I say plant any avocado tree. We will buy it and eat it. Matter if fact you cannot get a hass tree from a hass seed. The avocado keeps mutating.
If the specie gives alot of fruits...go for it. I personally believe Hass waa developed and marketed as a niche.
My plea to my fellow Africans....the market is big. You don't have to break a leg to do fruits and vegetables.
I have heard someone say there is a 1/10,000 chance of the avocado being edible if you grow directly from seed without grafting. If that is true you could waste 10 years plus of raising a tree only to have it be worthless. Sounds like it is better to graft from a known delicious tree.
Good expertees she has. Hass avocado in Uganda in good health.
You're such a professional journalist Duke, your choice of questions and interaction is up a level. It's been my wish that you diversify into crops as well. I'm sure you will handle coffee too in future. Blessings
Definitely definitely. I’m having that soon. Thanks for watching and appreciating.🙏🙏🙏🙏
The HASS Avocado variety grow very well in the Kingdom of Morocco especially in the region called Gherb (Arabic word meaning West) between The Costal city of KENITRA and the city of Larache.
For me I plan to cultivate the AVOZILLA Avocado variety due to its huge weight (more than 1kg for one piece)
Thanks for the video.
Don’t think your being smart .. the biggest market is for Hass .. which for export is what you want to be growing
Bdw .. I’m from Morocco Larache & have avocado farm

Avocado is extremely healthy. I am allergic to it . There is possibly a pesticide being sprayed on it that I am allergic to . I am growing it here in NYC to see if I can return to eating this amazing veggie. I have winter here so I have to baby sit this tree
How do u people get these allergies from healthy food!?
How much would it cost to purchase 10 acres of land in Uganda?

Good question good information excellent video, 👍
Thank you very much for the guidance!
Married for 32 years Grandparents we like the fruit
May Allah bless your farm ❤
5metres by 5metres not feet. Otherwise 5feet is less than 2metres which would not be possible for the tree to grow in that competition
Yes indeed, I meant to say 5 metres, it was a slip of a tongue. Thank you
The spacing of that orchard is 5m x5m, To cut irrigation cost please installation of driplines pipes will really solve the main challenge.
I will visit this farm very soon for installation of pheromones insects traps and the stickers.
Fantastic, thank you both
