Phoning It With a Friend

The plaintiff claims she bought the defendant, her friend, a phone with the agreement she'd pay her back. Unfortunately, the defendant failed to pay, so the plaintiff is suing. The defendant insists the plaintiff gave her the phone as a Christmas gift. The defendant believes the plaintiff only asked her for payments because she needed rent money. The defendant is countersuing for defamation.
