The masks in the MV actually were like muzzles, the older gen wouldn't let them speak. When they took it off it was showing how now they can speak their minds and pursue the dreams they want.
Stray Kids have some of the best freedom musically in the kpop industry considering they are a rookie group. Like to start off their leader Bang Chan (trained for 7, years) chose the other eight members, he hand picked them all by himself. Then three of them began producing music by themselves (they are called 3racha u should check them out). Then the 9 of them went through a survival show where they again had to do everything by themselves, producing, choreo, lyrics and two of them ended up being eliminated. Thankfully in the end they were able to pull through and the members were brought back and they would finally debut as 9. And then their tracklist came out for their debut album and everyone was shocked because once again everything was done by them, 3racha had written and produced all of the songs on the album and one of the songs all of the members participated in. It was the same again with their first comeback album. Like these days rookie groups are lucky enough to produce just the title track. Stray Kids however is telling the world EXACTLY what they want them to know through their music. And it's one of the many reasons y I love them so much

stray kids are a group that have a lot of creative control. their music is composed, written, and produced by primarily three members (chan, changbin, and han) but they all take part in writing lyrics. when it comes to choreography and styling they of course receive help and input but are allowed to incorporate their own ideas and express themselves freely. i believe this is why they appeal to the eye of teenagers because they create music that is genuine and allows for self expression, while discussing real issues that goes on in the life of a teenager.
I'm not sure if you guys are aware but Stray Kids write and produce every song they've ever made 100% themselves. They also choreograph everything themselves. Stray Kids want to be recognized as completely self sufficient artists. Plus their lyrics are always incredibly deep and insightful

As far as I know when it comes to performance clothes usually the stylist bring a bunch of things to match the general color palette/theme and the individual members can usually pick from that. It can depend a lot on the company and the image different individuals have though. Sometimes one member will be given more freedom to chose their own fashion then others in the same group. For Stray Kids I have not seen quite enough yet to know for sure, but I would say that the style in their videos tends to lean toward matching the feel of that video more than the normal street clothes they wear, but definitely has hints of their personal style. JYP tends to let individuals show more of their own style then some other companies.

another great thing about this song is that the voices can also stand for the voices in your head. doubts, self hatred, and other mental health related stuff and how they want to step out of that too. but, genuinely, one of the things that i love about stray kids is that they really do put a lot of emotion and meaning into their songs and the lyrics themselves.
