- HI SISTERS! After THOUSANDS of requests, I finally filmed a Cooking With James video. I decided to try and make my favorite fast food restaurant, Raising Canes, from scratch. I definitely burned it all along the way, but enjoy and find out what the finished product looks like. Food network, watch out.

Tips from someone who works at Cane's.
1. Order no salt fries and ask for salt at the second window. They have to come out fresh.
2. You can ask for butter on both sides of the toast.
3. A box no slaw extra toast is less expensive than a 3 finger with an extra toast.
4. Sauce is the cheapest thing on the menu. It costs about 40 cents, so if you usually ask to substitute something for sauce and add something else, it's more expensive.
5. Most Cane's restaurants also have hot sauce and mayo if you need it.
6. Anyone can order a kids combo, but a kids lemonade is not more expensive than a kids fountain drink.
7. If your asked for a bottle of water for no additional charge, you'd be better off getting a cup of water light ice. It's still cheaper and you get about as much cool water if not more.
8. A sandwich combo is cheaper than a 3 finger combo, and you get relatively the same amount of stuff on it unless you get it on toast. (Than it's a 3 finger with extra toast.)
9. You can put butter on your sandwich combo if you want. No extra charge and all, but you'll have to wait maybe 30 extra seconds.
10. We do have naked tenders. They take about 3 and a half to 4 minutes to make though and they come out smaller, so it might not be worth it sometimes.
Bonus tip #11. Caniac is pronounced the same as Maniac, but with a C at the beginning.

If y’all wanna make raising canes chicken:
You need Chicken Tenderloins.
Marinate them in a mixture of msg, salt, and water. You can marinate anywhere from like 5-24 hours.
To replicate our batter it’s actually just a gallon of whole milk and a dozen eggs. But that’s for a lot of chicken so you could half that and be just fine.
Our flour mixture is basically just flour and some pepper but honestly that’s the most basic and boring part so feel free to add some other seasonings.
That’s it. It’s basic.

Buttermilk is made with an acid and milk so... vinegar, apple cider vinegar and citrus fruits (lemons, oranges) are used as the acids and just use milk. USE FULL FAT CUZ ITS FAT AND FAT IS GOOD

And also that buttermilk doesn't actually contain any butter lol. It's basically fermented fresh milk which obtains a sour flavour and thickens to an almost yoghurt consistency. But traditionally it was the liquid that was left after churning butter so that is most likely why it is called that
